Depth in Auburn's secondary has become a problem, but Blake Countess could be part of the solution.

After graduating from Michigan last week, the cornerback announced his plans to leave the program for his final season of eligibility. He visited Arizona last week and will be in Auburn Friday through Sunday for an official visit.

"I have heard really good things about Auburn," Countess told Rivals. "I'm really excited to get down there and see what it's all about."

The 5-foot-10, 185-pounder appeared in 38 total games for the Wolverines and made 30 starts. Countess finished with 24 tackles (16 solo) with three pass break-ups last season. He caught six interceptions in 2013 and was a first team All-Big Ten selection after suffering an ACL injury against Alabama in the 2012 season opener.

As a graduate transfer, he will be eligible to play immediately this fall.

Tigers head coach Gus Malzahn recently identified his defensive backfield as a primary concern heading into the season.

Auburn has lost five members of its secondary since January: Mackenro Alexander, Kalvarez Bessent, Kamryn Melton, Derrick Moncrief and Joseph Turner. In addition, Jonathan Jones and T.J. Davis both underwent surgery this spring to repair foot and ACL injuries, respectively.

"We don't have a lot of experience, we don't have a lot of depth, we're going to have to rely on some guys that maybe don't have the experience that you'd like -- or some new guys coming in -- but like I said earlier: I think that falls into the category that we have a chance to get better each game," Malzahn said earlier this month.

Countess, a native of Owings Mills, Maryland, plans to take official visits to Oklahoma State and Oklahoma later this month. He reportedly wants to make a decision on a new school during the first week of June.

The Tigers have already landed one commitment from a former Big 10 cornerback this offseason, as Jamel Dean recently announced his plans to transfer from Ohio State to Auburn.

"We don't have a lot of experience, we don't have a lot of depth,...."

Not sure I agree with the first part of this quote.  Second part...maybe.  Moncrief was the only surprise to me as far as transferring.  He didn't come in and kick ass like many thought, considering the hype when he got to AU.  But he was in the rotation and had some experience.  The rest of the transfers just weren't going to see the field unless there was a catastrophic string of injuries.

As for experience, I think there's more than enough there with the starters, or at least who I think will be starting.

Jonathon Jones
Joshua Holsey
Rudi Ford
Tray Matthews

In addition, you've got:

Stephen Roberts
Nick Ruffin
TJ Davis (Assuming he recovers well)
Tim Irvin
Markell Boston
Michael Sherwood....played damn good in the Spring.

Is the kid from tOSU, Jamel Dean, eleejubble?

Incoming frosh:

Jordan Colbert 4*
Carlton Davis 4*
Jeremiah Dinson 3*

Avoid injuries and this secondary could be one of the better ones in the league.  I think Irvin, Roberts and Ruffin are going to play major roles back there this season.

I'm not sure Muschamp can handle a Prince and a Countess on the same defense.

Dude, I appreciate your enthusiasm but I think we all know that if an early call is to be made, I am ALWAYS  the one with the inside scoop.

Tone it down a little. The coaches are working him and we don't need to interfere at this point.

I will keep you abreast of what happens. Don't take it personal.

Will you at least tell us before he participates in his first practice?

The mass exodus of Auburn's defensive backfield since the end of 2014 has made room for a big name. Former Michigan cornerback Blake Countess announced on Twitter his intention to transfer to Auburn. The fifth-year graduate transfer will be eligible immediately.

Went back and could nit find where it was posted before, but Matt Hegarty is looking at arizona as a possible home for his final college season. Quite the story behind the ND C. Talk is that he would visit soon, and rumor is he is on campus. Would be a huge addition to our O line
