Title: Speaking of Cigars
Post by: Townhallsavoy on April 01, 2014, 07:11:19 PM
I've never smoked a high quality cigar before.  I saw some last week that were running at least $10 each and it seemed steep for me to purchase.

What do you smoke if you do?  I like to enjoy one rarely mainly because the taste lingers in my mouth for too long, but they are good when I do.

Tabak Especial Robusto Dulce pairs really well with good bourbon.

Best cigar bang for the buck is a Padron 3000.  Usually about $7 a stick. Constant quality never had a bad one. It is also a great cigar for beginners.

There are other cigars out there that are very good that are anywhere from $5 or so and up.  The most expensive cigar I have had was a $30 Fuente Opus X Lost City.

Good bargain cigars (by bargain I mean price not taste) to look for are Nat Sherman, La Aroma de Cuba, Herrrera Esteli just to name a few.  The great thing about cigars is trying new ones, much like whiskey.

I pay anywhere from $5-13 per stick.  You are right though it is not a cheap habit, and the reason it should be enjoyed.  Take your time, enjoy the cigar. Mix it with different drinks- coffee, different alcohols, wine....see how it changes the complexity of the cigar.

Since money is usually no object with me, I have no idea on the $ since I send people to shop but swisher sweets makes a good smoke. I have no idea if you would be able to afford it though.

BTW it also it helps to look at it this way, usually when you go out you buy drinks, right?

Beer at most restaurants now a days is $5 and that is probably on the cheap end.  Wine, premium alcohol, you are paying 9-12 for just a small amount.

A cigar on the other hand can be enjoyed over a 2-3 hour period.  A cigar is an experience, it is sophistication in an tobacco leafed wrapper.  It is endless conversations with good friends, enjoying life.

One other tip, if you want to avoid that lingering taste effect especially the next morning. The trick is cheese.

Eat some cheese after smoking a cigar, preferably a hard cheese like a gouda or swiss.  Usually only need 2-3 slices.  It does 2 things actually it tastes good while mixing with the cigar, it will also greatly reduce the bear that shit in my mouth morning taste.

Or you could do what Uncle Sani, Garman, or Tarheel and I do, have a cigar for breakfast.

Or, one could suck a dick. That would probably do the trick.

Listen, boys, this man knows of that which he speaks.

And I'm in agreeance with his and Sani's recommendations.  If you're not used to smoking a cigar I'd also add a mild-ish selection of a Macanudo Hampton Court or Hyde Park frontmark; and both are a good vitola for a relative newbie to smoke that's not overwhelming.

I smoke cigars occasionally, I don't know a lot about cigars. Like I'm at the cigar store, the man behind the counter says "what kind of cigars do you like?" "Uhh... Itsaboys."

Well, if there was dick cheese present, it probably would.  Smegma is the finest of the cheeses.

I like goat cheese but I like goat milk even better. Goats don't seem to like having their tits sucked though.
