Title: John Dies at the End
Post by: Townhallsavoy on August 21, 2013, 02:46:17 AM
One of the worst movies I have ever seen.

No point to this movie at all.  There's no build.  No climax.  No resolution.  I tried towards the end to see this as an allegory to life on drugs, but I stopped because this movie sucked too bad and was too full of itself to be considered an allegory.

I'm really surprised Giamatti went for this role, but maybe he was wanting a new beach house or a new Ferrari.  Who knows.

2/10.  Absolute garbage.

I enjoyed it.  Have you read any of Wong's other writing?

I liked it too. I just mentioned Wong the other day in here when Kaos posted this link which was some beautiful bloggery:

I have.  I really like his stuff on Cracked.

I just didn't get it.  I'm starting to worry that as I'm getting to be too grown up for my own good.  There was too many random elements....like...

Why was he cutting off a guy's head in the opening scene?
What was the purpose of the girl exploding into dozens of snakes?
What the hell was the Meat Man, and why was Marconi able to disband him simply by talking to him over the phone?
Was soy sauce part of some alien plan to destroy the planet because that's where I thought the story was going with the swarm of white moths that caused people to explode?

And then the real random starts:

The mall of death features a portal to a sister realm where John and Wong are religious figures predicted to one day arrive with a dog that can drive an automobile.  Some guy that had girlish hands was there, but we saw him before when Wong first took the soy sauce.  They go through this portal and are greeted by a man in a mask along with about 100 naked people (some awesome tits too) also wearing masks.  They escort the two to a church service and then John and Wong defeat some blob monster - well, they don't.  The dog does.  And it was all for the dog.  It was the chosen one.

Then afterwards, Giamatti's character ends up not being able to write this story for Wong because big twist!  Giamatti's character is the ghost of a dead black guy.

Just too much for me I guess.

I think you have to be high while watching it.  That could be your problem.
