Truitt just committed.
Since somebody won't expound....
http://auburn.rivals.com/content.asp?SID=884&CID=1525825
MONROE, Ga. | The day after Auburn landed one of the southeast's best quarterbacks in Sean White, they landed one of the southeast's best athletes to play alongside.
Monroe Area (Ga.) athlete Stanton Truitt made his commitment to the Tigers known after initially notifying Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn and receivers coach Dameyune Craig of his decision on Sunday.
Stanton Truitt committed to Auburn on Wednesday.
"Everybody that's involved at Auburn is so great," Truitt told AuburnSports.com. "When I visited Auburn last, there must have been most of the team working out in the weight room on a Saturday. That shows the dedication they are putting into the team trying to turn this thing around. And from talking to the players, they were welcoming me with open arms. Those things stood out to me."
Truitt chose Auburn over offers from Arkansas, Cal, Florida, Kentucky, Nebraska, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, Stanford, UCLA and many more.
Truitt finished last season with 2,458 yards as the athlete of the year in Region 8-AAAA, he scored a total of 28 touchdowns lining up as signal caller.
Truitt's decision to commit this past Sunday came one day after his visit on Saturday. It was that visit that netted him an Auburn offer and made a lasting impact.
"I don't have receiver film so most coaches don't get to see me catch and run routes," Truitt said. "That's the big thing with them, with a championship mentality, you can't just throw out offers to anyone. I respected that. They were patient to offer, but when they did, they thought I could be a superstar.
"They wanted me in the program. I went home after landing that offer and talked to my dad and we looked at every option. We sat down and looked at what everybody had to offer and we felt like at the time this was the biggest offer I could get as far as being in a great system and doing a variety of things for me."
Truitt stands 5-foot-10, 180-pounds and was one of Auburn's top targets at the athlete position. Auburn projects Truitt to play wide receiver and wildcat quarterback on the Plains.
The unquestioned success of Malzahn's offense and ability to create opportunities for skill-position players was key in Truitt's thought process and ultimate decision.
"They showed me how they used Darren McFadden and Felix Jones at Arkansas and how they started the wildcat," Truitt said. "The offense is proven and Coach Malzahn has proven it everywhere he's been. From Cam Newton at Auburn to Arkansas State, it's proven. It has everything I'm looking for."
Craig was Truitt's lead recruiter. The pair had been talking since earlier in the spring and have built a relationship that grew stronger during Truitt's visit to Auburn last weekend.
Craig's intimate knowledge of Auburn and the football experience proved significant in Truitt's view of the Tigers' program.
"Him telling me about the tradition at Auburn, he's been there and played there, he knows the place like the back of his hand," Truitt said.
"Coach Craig told me if I chose Auburn, it wasn't going to be easy. Everybody worked for a spot and nobody's a favorite. You work and whoever works the hardest is going to play. He never guaranteed me anything and that spoke out about his personality and character."
Truitt noticed the commitment of White on Tuesday. Truitt desired to speak out in congratulations, but worried that may tip his hand. Instead, Truitt watched film of White and came away impressed.
"I was excited. I did my background and watched his film. That was a big-time get and that will definitely help me. I really like him," said Truitt.
Truitt still plans visits as the recruiting process moves forward, but states that his commitment is a firm one.
"I'm going to hit some more schools this summer and fall, but I feel like I'm all in and 100 percent with Auburn," Truitt said. "I felt like in my heart it's the best situation. I found the best place for me and I'm sticking with this."
Now, Truitt will turn his attention towards recruiting high-profile prospects to join Auburn's class. He already has three in mind.
"Dante Sawyer, Myles Autry and Elisha Shaw," Truitt said. "Auburn is in the mix with all those guys and I'm cool with those guys. I've played against those guys and with them in the Georgia All-Star game. I think Auburn has what they are looking for."
Truitt holds a 3.3 GPA and is on track to graduate early and enroll at Auburn in January. Truitt's older brother attends MIT.
Rivals.com currently ranks Truitt the nation's No. 29 athlete.

DE Kinnion has committed.
Just how big a fella' is he?
-
Just how big a fella' is he?
6'6" - 6'7" (depending on the recruiting service) 225lbs. He's gonna be a run stuffing DE once he puts on about 50 more pounds of good weight.
-
Just how big a fella' is he?
Well, it IS Mrs. Kennion's boy so I'd say pretty big. That sweet tea she makes shore do drank good.
-
I Absolutely LOVE our current DE commits both are 6'6"-6'7"...that's Huge, gives Coach Russell plenty of frame to build upon and the fact that they're both around the 225lb. range, means that they can add about 50lbs. of good weight and be Clowney's size.
-
One of our local Bammer radio dweebs was talking about the two commits this morning. Talked about the Truitt commit and made sure everyone knew he was just a 3 star according to Rivals and 247. The only thing he said about Kinnion was a sarcastic, "And Auburn got a Tommy Tuberville commitment to flip."

I'll say this, if Coach Tommy Tuberville wanted him and if Coach Ellis Johnson & Coach Charlie Garner wants him after seeing him dominate one of their camps...I don't give a fuck how many stars he has or how many schools have offered him a scholarship, I want him at Auburn, especially if the prospect is a 6'7" DE.
As for Truitt, he's a four star on one of the recruiting sites that he didn't mention.

So...this sucks, no? What's his deal? Yet another Calloway/Kuodjio/Foster...
I just changed my prediction on one position (Center).
Casher has been a bama fan his whole life, uat slow played him, wanted an offer but didn't get one. Auburn offered due to the fact that they need a Center and Casher's size is ideal for a Center, eventhough he plays Guard in HS. Casher does his thang in the Summer Camps and dominates nearly everyone he went against. He commits to Auburn shortly afterwards, then uat comes in with an offer and a promise that he'll play Guard (don't see many 6' Guards in D1 but whatever). Now he's looking hard at uat. The Auburn staff will make Casher decide soon, when he does we'll know his answer if Center Andrew Marshall receives an offer.
That's another thing I love about this staff, they don't wait around and play games in recruiting...they know when to cut bait.
-
Joshua Casher has de-committed.
-
Andrew Marshall is somewhat of a unknown to us, but WOTS Auburn was recruiting him and Josh Casher. When Casher accepted the AU Offer, they stopped recruiting Marshall as hard as they had been. That all changed last Wednesday when Casher called Coach Malzahn and let him know that he wanted to de-commit and "open it back up" (I put that in quotation because everyone knows where he's headed). Marshall is just as mean on the field as Casher, but he isn't as strong, yet...but he is a true Center that calls the Audible depending on the formation that he sees (Casher is a HS Guard that Auburn and other schools were going to move to Center due to his stature, he's only 6'0).
Andrew Marshall reminds me a lot of my brother...and that makes me VERY happy, Jumbo will be happy as well. What I mean by that, is that he's NASTY and he plays a little dirty, that's what Auburn needs across the OL...mean, nasty & a little dirty. He didn't go through any of the Camp Circuits due to FCA and family vacations (that's where prospects get their bump up in the rankings before their SR. seasons). The recruiting people watch the prospects highlights, but if they can see a prospect going against a player that they rank pretty high and that prospect does very good against him, then that will give him a bump according to the recruiting people that watch it.

They are starting early this year, huh?
A mobile tradition continues. It's becoming an annual thing now.

Is it too late for them to flip Montrae and Lawson? I know they didn't have commitable offers last year but maybe Saban has changed his mind after the summer processing.

Things might be changing.
WOTS...when Casher de-committed he thought that he had a commitable offer from uat, that's not the case at this time. Casher and his family are, apparently, feeling A LOT of pressure right now from the uat fanbase, not so much from the uat coaching staff. There's a real possibility that Casher will be back on Auburn's commitment board and that's why they haven't offered Andrew Marshall yet (Coach Grimes called Marshall, last Wednesday, and told him that in two weeks he'll let him know if they're going to extend an offer). So, by this time next week, we should know where we stand with Josh Casher.
If anyone is "new to recruiting", meaning don't follow it much or just started a couple years ago, then you'll need to know, recruiting 17-18 year olds is a very fluid/roller coaster ride for nearly every University in the Country. uat doesn't have to worry about much once the money is flowing and the constant pressure from everyone around the prospects basically prevent anything from happening to their commitment. Same goes for a few other Universities like Oklahoma, USC and Texas.

So what you're saying is, he won't get a committable offer from Bama until 3 days before signing day when Marshall has already told us to fuck ourselves and he's ready to sign for another SEC rival.
Doesn't sound too different from what Chizik was doing to me.

The Auburn staff will feel out Mr. Casher before offering Marshall. They will cut bait if they don't like the feedback. Just like they did with Dee Liner & Brandon Harris. Like I've said previously, this staff doesn't play games, they told Marshall that he'll know two weeks, from last Wednesday, if he's gonna receive an offer. So, that tells me that they gave Josh Casher two weeks notice and by the end of that notice, if they don't feel that Casher is "All In", they'll move on...hopefully Marshall will still accept the offer.

Heard a couple of updates/rumors/adendums/quid pro quo's this morning. Dalvon Stuckey decommitted from Miami and was at the game Saturday. Wants to sign with AU but those "in the know" don't think he has an official offer yet because they're really monitoring his grades. Also, D'haquille Williams is "flirting heavily" with LSU and could flip if they offer. Don't think they have offered him though. This was from our local Bammer radio talk show host.

LSU has offered D'haquille. He was committed to them for about 20 days, before he decided to open his recruitment back up. Tennessee, aTm & AU were knocking on his door with bags of cash in tow.

Am I the only one that finds it odd that all three of these young men have initials in front of their names kinda indiscriminately? But I hear that G Jordan is one hell of a player.

I'd heard that Auburn has pulled his scholarship offer...wouldn't accept him even if he wanted to come. Something happened this weekend that caused them to make that decision.
That makes the third player that this staff has told to hit the road and not look back.

I'm not sure if they'll be replaced. Auburn landed Safety Markell Boston today, so we're really in no immediate need for another Safety (Stephen Roberts and Boston at the Safety positions and Derrick Moncrief at the Star).
I'd like for the rest of the money to go towards DEs Andrew Williams and Davon Godchaux with another raise for OT Braden Smith and Ath Treon Harris

Yes
Unless he and his parents are playing the joke of this season's NSD. Which they very well could be. Its been done before.

Yup, hopefully I'm wrong, because I think he could flourish in Coach Johnson's defense as a Star player.

Oh, I know. I've been saying he was bound elsewhere since he first started making the puppets dance.

I'm going to put Rashaan Evans back on the board and add OT Braden Smith.
Yes, I'm flipping back to the Evans to Auburn boat.

Foster....I mean, Evans is still on my list but the dynamics of this recruitment remain fluid and I am not at liberty to discuss specific inside info from the program. I will let you know more details tomorrow.

Oh, I know. I've been saying he was bound elsewhere since he first started making the puppets dance.
And like Prowler said, I really hope all the smoke and mirrors are just that. It's almost too obvious. Here's to hoping it's the troll job of the century on bammer.

I think we close out with:
Rashaan Evans
Andrew Williams
Braden Smith
Teron Harris or Davon Godchaux
:wartim: :starz:
In my heart I have conceded them all and it will make tomorrows meltdown better. If we do get three of them then I will be stoked since I don't think we get them.

Give me either Evans or Williams. Throw in Braden Pancake Smith and there will be a party in my Underoos.

The safety Parker 4* out of Ok committed to OK as expected at a nooner presser. We were in on him late.

So, as of this writing, 'Bama has 26 commits and will probably snag a few more tomorrow. That's signing 28-30. Uhm...who's getting
cut processed?

Auburn is currently ranked #10 in the Rivals Team ranking.
In 2010, we were #4.
Our average in the last 10 years is 11.5.
So by and large, this is a pretty average year. If Evans does indeed flip current Auburn recruits, as has been rumored, it will be worse than average.

This year is largely affected by what happened in 2012. Many of these national kids were learning about and exploring colleges while we were getting bum fucked 49-0 by our rivals.
You can bet that we will have a top 5 class next year. Especially if Craig and Garner stick around.

Where is this coming from? If it happens, and I don't think it will, unless 3 plus of our players leave, I don't think it's Armageddon.
We have a great class and are filling huge needs. How many could they have room for anyway?
-
I have said it over and over again. Quit listening to these subscription based web sites. I really don't think there is a tremendous talent drop off between a #10 ranked team and a #1.

Consider most are saying that if we land Evans alone our class would go from #7 to #3. IMO that is a huge jump.... but the fact is all of this is based on perceptions anyways.
Bottom line #3 or #11 whatevs, I am comfortable with our coaching staff.

I completely agree.
Just tempering some of the unbridled optimism I'm seeing about this class.

I don't know where you got that list. I'm sure they're based on Grillz ratings.
But 2010 was our best recruiting class to date, certainly not third from worst.

He got that list from Rivals.
and he is right. You have to remember Rivals ranks classes based on TOTAL points, so teams with more signed recruits have higher numbers. If you look at the AVG stars per class, (which is still stupid because it is all opinion based) I think it is a better indicator of class rank. It is always about Quality over Quantity.
I know you aren't good with the numbers but Prowler's statistic is dead on.
