Calloway would have only needed $500 to make that. The others would have needed $6000, and $6,500. In theory anyway. Some bondsmen will give you payment plans. I expect that if you're a bammer player, they give that extra benefit.

AUBURN, Alabama -- Four Auburn football players were arrested early Friday and each charged with 5 counts of first-degree robbery, according to the Auburn Police Department. Coach Gene Chizik has "permanently dismissed" the players from the team.
The players are Mike McNeil, a starter last season; and reserves Shaun Kitchens, Antonio Goodwin and Dakota Mosley. An Auburn Police Department press release said a gun was recovered when the 4 were stopped. They are being held in the Lee County Detention Center on $511,000 bond.
Chizik said: "The players arrested in connection with this deeply troubling incident have been permanently dismissed from our football team. While we realize the legal process will run its course and these young men have a right for their case to be heard, playing for Auburn University is an honor and a privilege. It is not a right.
"We hold our student-athletes to a high standard of conduct on and off the field as representatives of Auburn University, and this kind of behavior is not tolerated.
"I am extremely disappointed and embarrassed by the actions of these individuals. I want to personally apologize to all of those who were impacted by this senseless act, including the victims, Auburn University and the Auburn family."
Athletics Directors Jay Jacobs said: "This type of behavior will not be tolerated at Auburn. I fully support Coach Chizik's swift and decisive action to dismiss these 4 student-athletes from our football team effective immediately."
All four dismissed -- permanently -- from the team the day of their arrest.
Chizik issued a statement confirming such.
Now here's the Bama reaction. Nothing at all from Saban, but this from Mal(icious) Moore.
"This is a very serious matter and we are very disappointed in the actions that have resulted in the charges against these student-athletes," Alabama athletic director Mal Moore said in a university statement. "In this type of situation, the Athletics Department works in conjunction with the University. We will have more to say at the appropriate time."

So, how does someone that's out on bail, for have a gun without a license to own it ($500 bail), get to bail out the next day for 2nd degree Robbery (I'm guessing assault is included in that) as well as fraudulent use of Credit Card ($65,000 bail)? Wouldn't the 10% bonding be revoked?

A good lawyer goes a long way in a situation like this, fosho. It's really the only time people like 'em, when they are in deep hockey.
I was arrested for sodomy one time and my lawyer got the charges reduced to tailgating. So, there's that.

Football players’ victim speaks out after arrests

When Samuel Jurgens woke up on a sidewalk outside of Paty Hall shortly before 1 a.m. Monday morning, he thought he was dreaming. His face was numb, his headphones lay nearby, bloodied and broken, and he didn’t recognize where he was. His backpack, containing clothes, books and his Apple Macbook Pro, was gone.
Jurgens struggled to get up, fading in and out of consciousness, and stumbled toward Blount Hall, where he had spent the night hanging out with friends.
On his way across the parking lot between Paty and Blount, he placed a call to his friend, fellow sophomore Chris Burks.
“I apparently called Chris while in that state,†Jurgens said in an interview with The Crimson White Tuesday night. “I don’t have a recollection of that, but I told him something. Something bad has happened to me, I remember thinking before I faded out again.â€
Burks, who had spent the evening with Jurgens, said Jurgens called him about 20 minutes after they had parted for the night. He sounded delirious, Burks said, and repeated “I don’t know what happened, I need your help,†multiple times. Burks and another friend, Anna Richardson, hurried to meet Jurgens at the front door of the dorm.
“His left side of his face was gigantic,†Burks said. “The jacket he was wearing and his headphones were completely drenched in blood, the bottom half of his face was completely covered in blood; he was bleeding badly from his lip. He had clearly been badly beaten.â€
Friends helped clean Jurgens up and called UAPD, who made a report and escorted him to DCH. To save Jurgens the costly ambulance fee, Burks drove his friend to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a mild concussion and received stitches to close up his busted bottom lip.
Three UA students and football players were arrested early Tuesday morning in connection with Jurgens’ attack and another student robbery that occurred just an hour later. Each man was booked on two counts of second-degree robbery.
According to arrest records, Tyler Hayes and Eddie Williams admitted to robbing Jurgens near Paty Hall, and Dennis Pettway “aided and perpetrated†the robbery.
Hayes also admitted to standing by moments later along with Pettway while Williams assaulted UA student Caleb Paul in the MIB parking lot on campus.
Williams admitted he struck and knocked both men unconscious. Arrest records do not indicate whether Pettway admitted to the crimes.
The Attack
Jurgens still cannot recall specifics from the attack itself, but remembers the moments leading up to it. Walking from Blount toward his home on Hackberry Lane, he was listening to music when he heard someone ask him a question.
As he pulled his headphones off his ears, Jurgens saw someone approach from his left and ask if he had a lighter.
Jurgens replied that he didn’t and replaced his headphones before hearing the man ask again. He replied the same and turned to walk away.
“That’s when I guess something happened,†he said. “I woke up, my face was swollen, I had cuts, and I had a concussion. Police say that’s probably when they hit me; I just know right after that I lost consciousness and I regained consciousness on the sidewalk, staring at the sky.â€
Jurgens said he doesn’t remember being suspicious about the exchange before the attack.
“He just was very nonchalant and asked for a light,†Jurgens said.
Burks said Jurgens initially had difficulty making sense of his situation.
“He didn’t know what was going on. He couldn’t tell us what happened when we first sat him down,†Burks said. “We had been playing a game in my room about 15 minutes before it happened, and he was saying he thought that was days ago. He couldn’t remember anything.â€
Richardson said Jurgens’ headphones were completely shattered on the left side, the same side of his face that was swollen and lacerated.
“We thought it must have been an object [that broke the headphones], but when we got a look at the guys who were arrested, it could have very well been their fists; they were huge,†Richardson said.
Though Jurgens said the attack was an “eye-opening experience,†and his body is still recovering, he returned to class Tuesday.
“This was just a matter of chance. I’m still gonna love Alabama football. I just want to deal with this case, move on with my life,†Jurgens said. “I just want to get on with my education. I want to continue being happy here. I was happy here before, and I will continue being happy here.â€
Chris Paul, the second student attacked by the players Monday morning, said Tuesday night that he was feeling well and had returned to classes.
According to a University spokeswoman, UAPD did not send out a campus alert to students in the 24 hours between the muggings and the arrests because the University normally sends out alerts in situations where students need to take immediate action.
UAPD did, however, post an advisory on police.ua.edu after the incident.
The Charges
Williams, Hayes and Pettway face less serious charges than the maximum allowed by Alabama law, according to the Code of Alabama Section 13A-8-41 and 13A-8-42, the statutes dealing with burglary.
Alabama law holds that causing “serious physical injury to another†during a robbery is grounds for a first-degree robbery charge. Robbery in the first degree is a Class A Felony.
According to arrest records, Williams knocked both men unconscious in the respective attacks.
Though Jurgens was released from the hospital several hours after his attack, he considers his injuries quite severe.
“They [his injuries] were shocking; they’re something I’m still recovering from,†he said. “From what I’ve been told by the police of what they did to me, it could be much worse. I don’t have any hernia in my eyes, which my doctor was concerned about. Considering how athletic and strong they are, it could be a lot worse.â€
When asked if he believed his attackers used excessive force during the assault, Jurgens said he “definitely thinks so.â€
“The police report doesn’t say that they just punched me and robbed me,†he said. “They punched me, they kicked me in my back, in my ribs. I would definitely classify it as excessive.â€
According to additional arrest records, Williams was charged with the “Fraudulent Use of a Debit/Credit Card†along with fellow UA football player Brent Calloway, after both men used a stolen ACT card to purchase a snack from the vending machine on the first floor of Bryant Hall. Williams admitted to stealing the card from his previous robbery, and Calloway admitted to using the card with knowledge it had been stolen.
Williams was released from jail on a $65,000 bond, Hayes and Pettway were released on a $60,000 bond and Calloway was released on a $5,000 bond, a Tuscaloosa Police Department spokesman said. Jail records indicate they were arrested around midnight and released between 3 and 5 a.m. Tuesday morning. Officers at the Tuscaloosa County Jail said they could not provide information regarding the release of the four men or who paid each of their bail. Sgt. Jeff Judd referred questions Tuesday night to the Sheriff’s Office public information officer, who was not available.
Jurgens said he has never met his attackers before and wasn’t sure if they attacked him with specific intent to rob him.
“It’s almost like they were doing it for fun, because it seemed weird that they didn’t rob me of my wallet or phone or keys,†he said. “But, I just know they sure did an efficient job because I can’t recall parts of it even today.â€

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - First things first. Blame the punks.
Blame Eddie Williams, Tyler Hayes and Dennis Pettway, the three Alabama football players who’ve been charged with assaulting and/or robbing two of their fellow students.
Williams admitted to both assaults and robberies. Hayes admitted he participated in one assault and robbery and watched the other. Like Hayes, Pettway is charged with participating in one assault and robbery and watching the other.
According to police records, this is what the three players did to the first of the two victims: “Physically attacked him†by punching him in the head and kicking him in the back and ribs.
This wasn’t boys being boys or fellas blowing off steam. These were criminal acts of violence, and violent criminals have no place on a college campus, let alone a college football team.
You strike someone in something other than self-defense, and you shouldn’t get a second strike.
Nick Saban can’t control whether Williams, Hayes and Pettway get to stay in school. There are university policies that must be followed in that regard.
But Saban does control who gets to play on his football team and who doesn’t, who earns the privilege of receiving a football scholarship and who forfeits that privilege.
Toward that end, Saban’s statement Tuesday afternoon could’ve and should’ve been stronger. His action, indefinitely suspending those three players and Brent Calloway, who admitted to using one of the victim’s stolen debit cards knowing it was stolen, could’ve and should’ve been tougher.
The three players who participated in the assaults should no longer be members of the Alabama football team. They should be gone with no chance to return.
You don’t knock someone unconscious while robbing them - another detail from the police reports of what happened to both victims - and stay on the team one day longer after that information surfaces.
Calloway may have forfeited his Alabama football future as well because this is his second arrest. His first arrest in 2011 was for misdemeanor marijuana possession.
As for Williams, as if knocking two people unconscious while robbing them wasn’t enough to lose your roster spot, he also was arrested Sunday for having a pistol without a license.
“This behavior is unacceptable for any student-athlete at the University of Alabama and is not representative of our football program,†Saban said in his statement.
True on both counts. So why not tell them to turn in their playbooks?
In contrast to Saban’s measured response, consider how quickly and decisively Gene Chizik acted when four of his Auburn football players were charged with armed robbery in March of 2011. Within eight hours, he kicked them off the team.
“While we realize the legal process will run its course and these young men have a right for their case to be heard, playing for Auburn University is an honor and a privilege,†Chizik said in a statement. “It is not a right.â€
There was more to the statement, but that part cut to the chase.
This is no time to compare the arrest records of Alabama and Auburn players, but it seems fair to compare the reaction to two similar situations, especially in light of Chizik’s reputation for running an undisciplined program before he was fired and Saban’s rep as the ultimate and unquestioned authority in his program.
There’s no question that Alabama spends an extraordinary amount of time, money and effort to help its players develop as people, and there are more successes than failures. There’s also no doubt that those efforts don’t succeed in every case. See Rolando McClain.
Despite the perception of him as a dictator who strikes fear in everyone in his orbit, Saban is very much a players’ coach. He, his staff and his players have accomplished too many positive things to see them tarnished by the actions of these four players.
An indefinite suspension is more than a slap on the wrist, especially considering Saban’s track record with that form of punishment. His indefinite suspensions tend to become permanent.
But imagine the impact it would’ve made had he come out Tuesday and, in no uncertain terms, dismissed those four players from the team. As the coach of the program that’s won three of the last four national titles, Saban stands behind the biggest bully pulpit in the business.
This would’ve been a good time to use it to the fullest extent.
