Title: Reasons to Distrust the Government
Post by: Townhallsavoy on March 20, 2012, 08:27:54 AM
I don't have many thoughts about this new tax that's going to start in 2013, but I do know one thing - slipping this tax on real estate sales into the healthcare bill is some shady bullshit.

The gist:

If you make a lot of money and then sell your house for a large profit, you could be forced to pay 3.8% in taxes towards Medicare.  Why?  Because fuck you. That's why.

Agree, it's some shady "fuck the rich" type bullshit, but who is selling houses for a profit these days?

No clue.  I'm sacrificing lambs right now hoping to break even when we sell ours.

...if we sell ours....

So, once we tax the "rich" out of all their money, then what are we going to do?

They're not worried about that, they're just worried what will be done with it.

Which was exactly where I was going with this.  You can't tax your core revenue more and more and expect to sustain.  It's kind of like a few years ago when they raised taxes on tobacco products to pay of "poor kids insurance".  The price of cigars, snuff and cigarettes went through the roof.  Now that makes some happy.  They believe that you have no right to smoke, dip, or chew for whatever reason.  It stinks, I don't like the smell.  Whatever, fuck you.  If I want to smoke a cigar on my patio and you can smell it from your yard, then tough shit.  Until you are the owner of my property then fuck off, which brings up another point of private property rights and do you really own your land..............

anywho, back on topic.  It made those prices go up.  It was the main source of revenue to pay for the program.  If you raise the price so much in taxes, people will quit and then you lose that revenue all together.  Then what?  Where do you make that money up at?  I know, we will tax the shit out of the rich, or out of those that aren't technically rich when they sell their house for a profit.   When is this shit going to be enough to piss everyone off?

Hopefully in Nov of this year.

This isn't all of it.  There are several new hidden taxes in the healthcare bill.  I think many will get weeded out over time...
