6 OL in this class, any thoughts on maybe seeing if any of them can swap over to DT.

Between last year, and this year with OL...I think it's a real possibility.

Rivals hasn't updated their rankings after Diamond's commitment. Auburn will be 11th (53 points shy of 10th Place) with the addition of Diamond.

IMO, Mr. Diamond is one of the Top OTs in the Country, here's his Senior Highlights (I see a quicker Andre Smith in him...ie, he could definitely come in and start at either Tackle positions)

Since you know how many "points" Diamond is worth, I'll go with you.  I thought we'd move further up than that.

If we collect Diggs, we will surely be a top 10 class.  And these rankings don't even include Prosch.  He was a 2 star in 2010, but I think an All American FB = 4* anyway.

As I said in my long diatribe here, and as K said in his in the football forum, Chiz and staff are getting it done.

Aren't we also at play with that Kozen kid?

Add Diggs too and this class is damn near perfect.  Well, except for missing out on a big DT prospect.

I looked Thursday and AU was 11th.  I looked last night and Diamond was on the commit list (which I found strange because Thursday the had AU with 19 commits and after adding D that number didn't change).  AU had dropped from 11th to 12th which I again found strange because nothing had changed other than AU adding a four star commit to warrant movement in any direction.

We are.  I can't see it that one or more of these big uglies doesn't go to the other side of the ball.  Remember, Fairley was first listed as an OL coming out of HS.  The Will Adams kid that came with J. Williams is the lowest ranked OL of this class, but supposedly has a mean streak.  I think quickness and meanness are the differences in OL and DL.  He's 6-6 275, and could easily carry 290 plus.  I look for him to be a candidate to move to defense.  But, who knows, could be any of them that decide to move, or that the coaches think can help on Defense.

They haven't updated the ranking list since we got Avery Young...They are showing us with 19 commits we actually have 21.

Besides it doesn't matter Kaos bama is #1 they are the king of football...all other rankings are dubious.

Wonder what it would be if they counted Prosch?  I know he was a 2*, but All American should bump him up a bit.  Now, let's get Diggs.  Should be a nice recruiting tool to tell him he'll have all day to get open.

Here is the team ranking formula for those interested...
(a statistician from Cal-Berkeley developed this).

*Note you only take the top 20 prospects in this formula, ordered by # Stars descending.*

POINTS = ((N / (N + 50)) * H) + ((50 / (N + 50)) * L)

H = 250 for each 5-star commit + 140 for each 4-star + 75 for each 3-star + 20 for each 2-star + 10 for each 1-star
L = 18 for each 5-star + 12 for each 4-star + 8 for each 3-star + 3 for each 2-star + 1 for each 1-star
N = a number of calculations, described below

CALCULATION OF N:
10 for each commit on the Rivals 100 (high school) ranked 1-10
9 for each commit on the Rivals 100 (high school) ranked 11-20
etc. down to...
1 for each commit on the Rivals 100 (high school) ranked 91-100

10 for each commit on the Rivals 100 (non-high school) ranked 1-10
9 for each commit on the Rivals 100 (non-high school) ranked 11-20
etc. down to...
6 for each commit on the Rivals 100 (non-high school) ranked 41-50

24 for each commit ranked #1 on his official position ranking
18 for each commit ranked #2-5 on his official position ranking
8 for each commit ranked 6-X on his official position ranking, where X is dependent on detail position, as listed below...

--Dual-threat QB: 25
--Pro-style QB: 25
--Running Back: 35
--All-Purpose Back: 15
--Fullback: 15
--Wide Receiver: 50
--Tight End: 20

--Inside Linebacker: 35
--Outside Linebacker: 35
--Cornerback: 40
--Safety: 30
--Athlete: 25
--Kicker: (no points awarded for rank lower than 5th)

*If the team's average stars are greater than 3, add (100 * (Avg stars -3)) to N.*

Tubs originally recruited Fairley, but Fairley didn't make to campus until 2009.  They moved him to DT at Copiah-Lincoln CC.

What about the tweener Hutcherson...he's Gronklike, do we get more credit for him ?
And how come a center is of lesser value than other linemen? And where is the all important deep snapper on this list ?

Diggs is still in it though.

I only knew him to be a WR until jmar posted that.  I looked too, and seems he can play a lot of positions.  WR, Safety, Corner, maybe even LB.  I'm guessing since he's listed as a WR that is what he wants to play.

I would think so. Hell, thats where I want him to play too but as you said, it would have been nice to pick up one more DB. I will say though, I think that the secondary will be a lot better next year......at least I can hope.

 By Scott Powers
ESPNChicago.com

CHICAGO -- Simeon senior offensive tackle Jordan Diamond announced his commitment to Auburn at a news conference Friday.

Diamond, who is 6-foot-6 and 291 pounds, is the 10th-ranked offensive tackle and 94th-ranked overall player in the Class of 2012, according to ESPNU.

His final list also included Arkansas, Michigan and Wisconsin. He made official visits to all four schools, going to Auburn on Dec. 16, Michigan on Jan. 13, Arkansas on Jan. 20 and Wisconsin on Jan. 27.

He said he was torn about his choice until Wednesday night.

"I had mixed emotions about every school," Diamond said. "I liked a few things about every school, but when it came down to it, the people down there at Auburn really separated themselves from everyone else.

"I slept on it, prayed on it, dreamed about it. That feeling came when I made that decision."

One of the most influential people in Diamond's decision was Auburn offensive line coach Jeff Grimes. Diamond was swayed by his coaching style and him as a person.

"Definitely, coach Grimes put it over the top," Diamond said. "The way he conducts things down in the Southeastern Conference is very amazing. The poise he has his for his athletes, the way he teaches, the family guy he is convinced me to come play for him."

Auburn now has 21 players in its 2012 recruiting class.

Diamond made his decision while standing in front of six hats, which in addition to his finalists, included Illinois and Notre Dame. He said Notre Dame was an outside possibility, but Illinois was a decoy hat.

"It was really difficult for Jordan," Simeon coach Dante Culbreath. "I think about three days ago he might have been going to Wisconsin, so I knew it was a difficult decision. It came down to the last days."

Diamond was an ESPNChicago.com all-area selection and helped Simeon to a 10-4 season and a runner-up finish in the Prep Bowl.

At the news conference, Simeon quarterback Robert Gregory also committed to Purdue. Gregory was previously committed to Arkansas, but backed out because he wanted to go to a school where he could play quarterback.

"I made a late decision predicated on a late offer," said Gregory, who also considered Minnesota. "I wanted to play quarterback and not a lot of schools would give me the opportunity to play quarterback. A lot of schools wanted to recruit me as an athlete, and Purdue gave me an opportunity. If it calls for a position change, I'll do that, but they give me the opportunity. They made me feel like I'm at home."

I was really worried that we were going to lose him to Texass last year.  Glad he is on our side.

Gained a ton of respect for Grimes when he told Texas to fuck off.

Also nice seeing someone turn down UT's millions. Has to smart them in the ass for someone to tell them NO.

I don't think Kozan is an option any more. He was waiting to see what Diamond was gonna do and do the opposite. Kozan was a backup plan for Diamond.

Diggs is still in it though.
Alex Kozan is a Guard / Center, Diamond is a Tackle.

Kozan belongs up north.  With that name, you have to play at Penn State, theOSU, Meatchicken....they all have names that sound like pimple creams.  Cefalo, Skrepinak, Kozan, Plyznewski....

I wonder if all the Polish kids are scared off by Lutzenkirchen, fearing German dominance once again.

Two Pollacks are walking down a dirt road late at night.  Suddenly, one comes across a head laying in the ditch.  He reaches down and grabs the head, holds it up and says, "Damn, that looks like Dobowski".  The other one looks at it and says, "Nah, Dobowski's not that tall."

Ohio State caller to Fuckbomb:

Auburn was Diamond's only option.  Big Ten schools pulled off him when he showed up on campus looking for Kenny Rogers.  We see where he ended up.  Nobody else would take him.

We paid Cam.  It's a fact.
