Title: Rogue program alert!!
Post by: Kaos on March 20, 2011, 11:47:07 AM
It must be the culture down there.  Are they running an outlaw program?  They have to cheat and cut corners to win.

TUSCALOOSA -- Alabama senior safety Mark Barron was arrested in Mobile for hindering prosecution, a second degree misdemeanor charge, according to the Mobile County Sheriff's Office website.

And he's wearing bama gear in his mugshot.

Doesn't count.  He was injured in the Iron Bowl.  Auburn cheated and had future criminals on the sideline.  They'll use the "Chizik made me do it defense" and it will be all good.

Section 13A-10-44
Hindering prosecution in the second degree.

(a) A person commits the crime of hindering prosecution in the second degree if with the intent to hinder the apprehension, prosecution, conviction or punishment of another for conduct constituting a Class C felony or a Class A misdemeanor, he renders criminal assistance to such person.

(b) Hindering prosecution in the second degree is a Class A misdemeanor.
(Acts 1977, No. 607, p. 812, §4637; Acts 1979, No. 79-471, p. 862, §1.)

This is another reason not to give rival fans shit about players being arrested. It's only a matter of time. I gave it a month before an Alabama player was arrested.

Thanks, Mark Barron.

Thanks, Mark Barron.

obile police arrested Barron this morning at a home on Butts Street and charged him with hindering prosecution, which is a second-degree misdemeanor. Police tell News 5 Barron lied to police in an attempt to cover for his cousin who left the scene of an accident.

Someone called 911 about 5:00 a.m. to report an abandoned vehicle on I-10 at Michigan Avenue. When the officer arrived, Barron was with the car, which had hit the retaining wall. Barron told police a man he only knew as "Bull" had taken his car from Shotgun Willies, a night club in the 4100 block of Government Blvd. But during the investigation, police learned Barron's cousin, Jamal Lang, is actually the one who was driving the car at the time of the crash. Lang will be issued a citation for leaving the scene of an accident.

Barron was booked into Mobile Metro Jail around 7:30 a.m. He was released about 45 minutes later on a $500 surety bond.

Not quite the same as armed robbery.

Potato Soup with Shrimp

Ingredients

    * 1/2 stick butter
    * 1 small onion, diced
    * 2 medium carrots, diced about the same size as the onion
    * 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
    * 8 medium russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
    * 4 cups milk, whole, reduced fat (2 percent) or low fat (1 percent)
    * 2 chicken bouillon cubes, dissolved in 1/2 cup hot milk
    * 1 cup half-and-half
    * 1 teaspoon salt
    * 1/4 teaspoon pepper
    * 2 cups salted water
    * 1 pound medium shrimp
    * Crumbled bacon bits, for garnish
    * Grated sharp Cheddar, for garnish
    * Dill sprigs, optional garnish

Directions

In a 4-quart saucepan, melt the butter and saute the onion and carrots until both are slightly tender, about 5 minutes. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Add the potatoes, milk, and dissolved bouillon cubes. Cook over medium heat for 15 minutes, until the potatoes are very soft and some of them have begun to dissolve into mush. Add the half-and-half, salt, and pepper.

In a small saucepan, bring 2 cups lightly salted water to a boil. Add the shrimp all at once and stir well. Watch the shrimp closely; as soon as they all turn pink, about 2 to 3 minutes, turn off the heat and drain. The shrimp should be slightly undercooked. When they are cool, peel them, and chop roughly into big chunks. Add the shrimp to the soup and stir well. Serve soup sprinkled with bacon bits and grated cheese. Garnish with dill sprigs, if desired.

Horseshit.  Clearly as pointed out against Chizik, any stupid and idiotic decision made by these kids are immediately attributable to the head coach.  By everyone's logic and based on Bama's recent arrests and shenanigans over the last few years, clearly Saban is running nothing short of The Rock in West Vance.

Surely he should have seen the signs.  Right?

I didn't own a 20k chrome rimmed ride when I was in college.  I had a car that ran most of the time, that I tried to park on a downhill grade in case I needed to pop the clutch and that I used when it didn't have a damn boot on it from being illegally parked.

I didn't drive a 20k car when I went back to school after I was married and making up for the stupidity of youth.

So yeah.  it looks funny to me.  It looks funny to me when apparently EVERY bama player drives either a Chrysler or Dodge or has a relatively new Yukon, Escalade or other large SUV.   Gas for those has to cost $300-$400 a month.

So yeah.

It's okay, a get away car is never necessary when at Alabama.  We all know most have left the scene in this type of car before even getting to the get away car...  Shoot, they've even been so kind as to replace windshields in some of them.

Elder, a freshman from College Park, Ga., is being held in the
Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Department jail on $120,000 bond.

UA police shed more light on the incident in an advisory posted on its
Web site. UA spokeswoman Cathy Andreen confirmed that Elder was the

Two male UA students reported they were approached by an unknown male
in a parking lot about 11 p.m. Saturday night. The male presented a
gun and took cash from one of the students. There were no injuries.

On Sunday, UA police investigators arrested Elder.

Alabama coach Nick Saban has not commented on Elder's arrest.

with selling cocaine and possessing ecstasy pills on campus.

Alabama linebacker Jimmy Johns was arrested on felony drug charges
Tuesday and kicked off the team, the latest in a string of
off-the-field problems for coach Nick Saban's squad.

Johns, who moved to defense for his senior year after playing running
back and receiver in 2007, was "pretty wide open" selling cocaine to
students on and around the University of Alabama campus but tried to
hide what he was doing from teammates, police said.

"He didn't want them to know he was involved in it," said Capt. Jeff
Snyder of the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force.

Records did not indicate whether Johns had hired a lawyer. He was held
at the metro jail with bond set at $120,000.

Saban dismissed Johns from the team almost immediately.

"This type of behavior obviously will not be tolerated and he is no
longer a part of our program," he said in a brief statement.

Alabama players have been involved in a series of arrests and
off-the-field suspensions, with Saban acknowledging the need for
better discipline and judgment earlier this year after two players
were arrested within days of each other.

"I've said enough is enough and we're trying to fix it," Saban said in February.

About two months later, Snyder said, police began getting tips that
Johns was involved in drug sales. Alabama was conducting spring
football practice around the same time.

Undercover officers purchased cocaine from Johns five times in the
last 1½ weeks, Snyder said, and they arrested him at a gas station
near his off-campus apartment, where he lived alone.

Authorities who searched the apartment found about 10 grams of cocaine
and ecstasy pills. Johns was charged with distributing cocaine and
possessing the pills, Snyder said.

Snyder said Johns didn't use his status as a football player to
solicit business, but being a member of the Crimson Tide didn't hurt,
either.

"He was popular. A lot of people knew him," he said.

Snyder said officers purchased drugs twice from Johns at the player's
apartment, once near campus and twice at the university. He declined
comment on whether officers obtained drugs in the Alabama football
complex. But he said there was no indication other players were
involved.

improper dealings with an agent.

Sources told ESPN.com that Smith's suspension was related to improper

it was due to violation of team rules and policies.

Mark Baron was at Spring Practice yesterday. Didn't miss a beat.

http://blog.al.com/live/2011/03/barrons_cousin_jailed_on_charg.html

Quote
Mark Barron's cousin jailed on charges unrelated to wreck that lead to safety's arrest
MOBILE, Alabama -- The cousin of Alabama football player Mark Barron was held without bail today in Mobile County Metro Jail on charges unrelated to the car wreck that resulted in Barron’s arrest Sunday, according to court and jail records.
Jeremy Lavoris Lang, 22, was bound over to the grand jury today on a charge of possession of cocaine, according to jail records. Mobile police spokesman Officer Christopher Levy said today that Lang was arrested Feb. 25 during a Mardi Gras event and also charged with attempting to possess a controlled substance.
The hearing today in Mobile County District Court also dealt with Lang’s unrelated second-degree assault charge stemming from an incident March 2, court records show.
Barron was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of second-degree hindering prosecution after a wreck on Interstate 10 early Sunday morning in Barron’s car, which Lang was driving, Levy previously said.
Lang fled the scene on foot before police arrived, Levy said.
Barron told the officer he had been at Shotgun Willies, a nightclub on Government Boulevard. He would not tell the officer how he arrived at the scene, Levy said.
Barron told the officer his car had been taken without permission by a man he only knew by the nickname “Bull,“ according to Levy. The officer determined through questioning that the car had been taken Lang, who fled the scene. The officer offered Barron multiple chances to provide more concrete details, even calling Barron’s mother and grandmother at their home on Butts Street, Levy said.
Barron maintained his version of events and was told at that point the officer had no other choice but to arrest him and process him, Levy said.
A citation charging Lang with leaving the scene of an accident was yet to be served on Lang, Levy said today.
Barron, an alumnus of St. Paul’s Episcopal School, is a prominent defensive back for the Crimson Tide.
Barron was injured in the Iron Bowl loss to Auburn in November and did not play in the Jan. 1 Capital One Bowl victory over Michigan State.
