Title: AU vs. AL game
Post by: lifesapplepie on March 03, 2009, 10:37:48 AM
I just looked at the line and AU is +2...thinking about laying down a little.  Lebo has his team playing pretty good right now and AU record ATS this year is 17-5.  What are your thought on the game?

Tough to say.  Lebo certainly has them playing well, but Bammie just came off an ass whipping of Ole Piss on the road, so they may have a little mo coming in themselves.  I would imagine the crowd will be a factor because, isn't this the game where they make the Iron Bowl presentation at half time?  They've suffered for a lot of years and I suspect a ton of Camaros in the parking lot with mullet fans there in droves to exorcise some demons.

I think if AU loses, Lebo should be fired.

We certainly can beat them but I have to agree with Birdman; there will be a lot of psychological factors at play working against AU not the least of which is the turds avenging that pounding that we gave them in January.

Anyone going to be on the chat board tonight for the game? I will be in Tulsa, OK and drinking alone in the hotel if you fuckers want to discuss the game!

Naaa...I just don't feel good going back and forth with some dude, alone and drunk in a motel room with his dick in his hand.

Okay, here's the deal.  It's been a while since I've seen a more pathetic display of shooting and just in general, trying to run an offense.  It's a pass or two and then straight one-on-one, throw it up from wherever.  And they are IIIICCCCE COOOOOLLLLLD.  If Mulletville could hit a free throw, we'd be down 25 right now.

This ain't sayin' much for our chances if any selection committee member is watching this.  Lebo better get his guys focused for th 2nd half or this thing could get ugly.  Come on Tigers, snap out of it and whip this awful Bammie team.

20 fucking free throws to Auburn's 3. 20 to 3. 20 to fucking 3. Something is wrong there. I am not blaming it on the refs...but damn man. I know I saw several questionable calls go against Auburn. Auburn needs to stay out of foul trouble and start hitting some shots and we will be ok.

I am stunned.  They looked absolutely pathetic for 3/4 of the game.  Them all of a sudden, every 3 goes down, every drive to the bucket is a finish, they get all the loose balls.  I can't believe the turn around.  WOW!!

20 wins with quite a few coming on the road and ANOTHER season sweep.

Holy shit Bama, can those fucking houndstooth hats look any more redneck?  Good Lord, the world is laughing at you.  Stop the insanity now.  If there were 10,000 people there..8,000 of them had some form of houndstooth shit on their head.  Fuck, that's awful looking.

WAR DAMN EAGLE!!

I am as proud of this team tonight as I was seeing Carolina beat Duke in that quaint little gym in Derm a few weeks ago (no offense to Harvey Birdman or Aubie 16 both of whom I consider friends).

What a game!

A couple things.

1) What the fuck was with the foul calling in that game? That was the most pathetic basketball officiating I've seen in my life! Auburn would get raped every time they took a shot and no foul. Bammer would charge, get Auburn within an couple inches, go over Auburn's back, run into eachother with no Auburn player in sight and it somehow was a foul on Auburn. That shit was beyond ridiculous.

2) Granted, it should have never been that close. We just threw what the fuck ever up instead of chipping away at the deficit. Auburn looked like shit until the last quarter of that game.

3) I fucking HATE bammers with every drop of my blood. There were two 56 year old (they told me) mulleted mustachioed bammers there that were mouthing the fuck off when they were in the lead. After the loss they threw up every cliche' bammer statement imaginable. Just when I thought the stereotypes had subsided and maybe it was all in my mind, here come these assholes to prove me wrong. Literally this is what they yelled at us. "Saban. 36-0. We got them rangs, 12 of em, how bout y'all?"

We couldn't resist but go up and dispute every false logic bammerism they threw at us. To be honest, they were coming too fast to even combat them. They threw out Steely Dan's "tribute" to them due to their greatness, to which I quoted Steeley Dan's actual take on the creation of the song by googling it on my phone. They responded "Hell yeah. Steely Dan's a damn good band." In other words, they still didn't get it. Boldly claimed Auburn would never win another game as long as Saban's the coach...claimed Auburn has never been significant as if the last 7 years...hell 25+ years...never happened. Didn't realize we were making fun of them when we asked what their alias was when they called into Finebaum, to which they exclaimed "Hail yeah, I call in at least once a week".

Fuck bammers with every molecule in my soul.

AU had some serious guts there at the end. There were junk calls on both sides, and though I wasn't happy with the outcome, I'm pleased with the way 'Bama is playing now.

Good win.  :bar:

I didn't know you were at that game...wish that I'd been there but I must refer to Sani's and my own interaction with the bammers at the game in Auburn...see the First Annual Tigers X Basketball Outing thread for more details...

definitely a great win...

Ich verstehe.

At any rate, I wasn't impressed with any of the bammers i encountered in Auburn at the Auburn/ turds game in January.

What the hell is with those folk?

I'll readily admit, the refs were awful on both sides of the court tonight. There were several times I just cringed.  Having said that, I'm still blown away they could look so bad and then just flick that switch.  War Damn Eagke.

The ONLY way Auburn makes the NCAAs is if we win the tournament.  RPI guys this morning said that.

Damn.

Quote
Tigers are worthy of an NCAA bid, regardless of what computers say

By Phillip Marshall, Senior Writer
Posted Mar 4, 2009

I’ve said it for years, and I still believe it. Computers have no place in deciding who gets to play for championships in college athletics.

RPI, as it is called, is a joke. It’s a made-up formula that is not grounded in reality. There are so many variables in college athletics that can’t be quantified in a computer program. Whether its conference commissioners talking about the BCS, men’s or women’s basketball tournament or NCAA baseball tournament selection committees, their consistent claim is that RPI is just one part of the equation.

But talk privately to people who have served on those committees and they’ll tell you that RPI is far and away the biggest factor in determining who goes and who stays home.

I watched Auburn rally from a 13-point deficit in the second half to beat Alabama in the most hostile of environments at Coleman Coliseum on Tuesday night. The computer will say that’s not a good win. The computer doesn’t know.

Auburn is 9-6 in the SEC. It has won seven of its last eight games and has won four SEC road games. Anyone who watches these Tigers play knows they are worthy of an NCAA bid. But the computers say they’re not.

Hogwash.

The worst part about the whole formula is the unreasonable weight given to the weaker teams on a school’s schedule. If you play a team whose RPI is, say, 180, you’re not going to lose. If you play a team whose RPI is 300, you’re not going to lose. So why should one count more than the other? Got me.

Auburn already deserves to be part of the tournament conversation. If it beats regular-season champion LSU at home on Saturday, the issue ought to be settled. But apparently that won’t be the case.

Of course, the Tigers could make it all moot by winning the SEC Tournament in Tampa next week. And the way they’ve played for the last month, they have as good a chance as anyone.

Sorry.  Mom was an english prof.  "hear hear" is the way to go.  She slammed my hands once for writing it this way, so I thought I should return the favor.

There, there now. Don't get upset about it.

I do think if they knock off LSU this weekend, they should be getting a real serious look from the committee.  I'd also like to point out that just because you play in the Big East does not mean you're sporting a 10" cock.  I'm sick of listening every night to the talking heads break down the Providences and Georgetowns and Notre Dames of the world and talk about how they may only be 2-8 in their last 10 but so and so has that "Quality win" against Pitt or Syracuse.

Oh, and Heel, the Dookies took down another 20+ win team last night.  I'll be watching with interest as the Hokies play for their NCAA llives tonight.  Could be (Won't be) a good one.

I was listening to Tim Brando on Fineschlong yesterday and he was giving FSU over Dook as his guaranteed upset special.  "Sandwich game" he called it.  Not on senior night biotch.

Problem is, it will be senior night at the Bean Dome Saturday too.
