Cards trade Dex to the LAA for player to be named later.
Reunites Dex with Maddon.
And also means that Buzz no longer has any rooting interest in the Cards.
Think it's a cost cutting measure for Cards. They had 5 OF.

Agree with u and K both. The Braves burned it down to the ground about 4-5 years ago and started building back with young prospects. They keep adding some talent and experience in guys like Donaldson and Ozuna. Now they think if Soroka comes back healthy, they have the pitching in place. I disagree. I think they need one more piece to the puzzle, a Scherzer level starter. Then...it’s on.
-
Buzz, cubbies make any moves??
Nope. No moves this year. We are primed to take the Central by storm.
Wait...what was that? You mean? Really?
Well fuck.
-
Love the Braves line up from top to bottom. They keep bringing in good, young talent from the farm system. I think they're a little better than last year overall with the pitching staff; however, they still refuse to go out and get a big time starter, while the Dodgers add Trevor Bauer to that stacked staff. It really comes down to finding a way to make the playoffs and hope you, or someone catches LA in a bit of a slump. Otherwise, we're all playing for second place.

No definite decision has been made as of a couple of days ago to let fans in. However, most think it's a given and the capacity will probably be 25%, which is about 10K. Reedonkulus!

Sent this to Snags and Buzz this morning, but figured I'd post too...
https://ftw.usatoday.com/2021/03/cardinals-yadier-molina-dared-astros-runner-steal-threw-out-video
Yadier Molina dared a baserunner to steal in a spring training game and still threw him out
St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is a surefire Hall of Famer for a number of reasons. Besides being the best defensive catcher in the history of baseball, Molina takes every game seriously — even in spring training.
We saw that in action during Sunday’s Grapefruit League game against the Houston Astros.
Molina was still in the game in the seventh inning, which is typically around the time you’d see a bunch of guys with numbers in the 90s who have no shot at making the opening-day squad. But Molina was still in there, and he noticed that Astros pinch runner Jose Siri was looking aggressive off first base.
So, what did Molina do? He straight-up challenged Siri to steal second … and threw him out anyway. Jomboy Media broke down the exchange brilliantly.
The best part of the whole play had to be the pronounced staredown from Molina after he threw Siri out to end the inning.
Like, it was the seventh inning of an early March spring training game! And Molina still wasn’t going to dial down the intensity at all.
It doesn’t get much better than that.

I cheated and looked into future Baseball Almanacs and the Mets are predicted to make the playoffs again in 2039. Very promising.

Didn't you hear? The Mets got Francisco Lindor. They're scrappy now.
I did hear an interview yesterday on The Dan Patrick Show with 1st Baseman, Pete Alonso. (Go Gusty Gaytah) Not that you'd expect him to say anything else, but he sounded genuinely pumped about their season. I don't see it with that line up, but they should be better. Patrick asked him who he thought was the best power hitter in NY. Alonso said he didn't want to come off as cocky but he considers himself the best power hitter in the game.
He is a strapping young lad.

I am strongly considering going full Kaos on this season after that All Star game bullshit. Has nothing to do with Atlanta or my Braves. This woke shit has GOT TO STOP. MLB caved to those sick bastards. Just make a damn statement that we’re staying out of politics. But noooo. Did anyone read this bill? I did and I don’t live in Jawjah. The things being said about It are outright lies. Even that senile old bastard, Joe Biden, thinks the bill is about having minorities pass out in voting lines from dehydration. Fuuuuuuck MLB.
-
I just went to their website and called every number on there. Of course it goes to voice mail and every mailbox is full. I’ll find a way to contact those pieces of shit one way or another. For the time being, those assholes are dead to me.

yep. With ya. It’s crossed the line. It’s so far over the line I can’t even see the line anymore.
Braves disagree with MLB. GOOD. Love my braves. But fuck MLB. I don’t know all the details of the cba but I’ve read mention of some legal action possibly by the braves. All moving the game is gonna do is a hurt a ton of people who had nothing to do with anything. I was actually considering attending it being so close which doesn’t happen very often.
-
Since they won't answer the phone, my email to MLB.
I am writing to voice my extreme displeasure with your decision to move the All-Star game from Atlanta. You say that the decision was based on the new voting law passed in Georgia; however, it is blatantly obvious that no one in your organization took the time to even read or research it, but rather, based your position on misinformation and outright lies. Anyone who actually reads it would know that the very notion that the law in any way, shape or form, suppresses or hinders anyone’s ability to vote, borders on the ridiculous. But, no need to belabor the point, your decision is made. And so is mine.
Your organization, and all professional sports exist because of one thing, and one thing only….the fans. Whenever you take positions on political and “social justice†issues, you must realize that you will always alienate a huge percentage of those fans, especially in today’s climate. Sports are an escape from the every day world. We are inundated daily with those issues and I would venture a guess that the overwhelming majority of fans don’t want that spilling over into that escape. We don’t want you, or the NFL, or the NBA force-feeding your political positions down our collective throats.
Your decision to pull the game ironically hurts the very people you claim to support. Either you didn’t think that through, or more likely, you really don’t care. MLB took a stand, and an embarrassing one at that. Until that stops, you can count me as another former fan and supporter of your product.

You know, UAB has a nice new stadium. Might as well move the game there. F Atlanta.

Disappointed.
If u actually were to support these faggots, I mean. I will not spend a nickel, knowingly, in support of their political agendas. Again, Fuck pro sports. And if SEC pulls out, fuck them. It very well may happen. If so, I guess I’ll be whipping kaos’ ass on the golf course.

I'm back. I wrote my letter to MLB and I probably caused their ratings to drop at least 60% by not watching at all for about 20 games. So mission accomplished. But, I can't quit my Braves. They railed against the move and I know moving the All Star game was a knee jerk reaction by the numb-nuttz Commissioner, cowering to the woke mob.
I just wanna' watch my sports.
Everyone is right at 30 games in and it's hard to get a feel for what teams are the shizznit. But the cream always eventually rises to the top in a 162 game season. Bahstahn sits atop the AL East with an 18-13 record. Yank Me fans were about to run A-A-Ron Boone out on a rail, but they've sort of turned things around and sit right behind the Sox at 16-14. They've been hosting the cheating Stros and I had to laugh at the chants of "Fuck Altuve".
Nothing much else happening in the AL other than the A's are off to their annual hot start. They do it every single year, but fade in the end.
In the National League, Jar's Cards have been steady and hold the lead in the Central at 18-13. Buzz' Baby Bears just took care of those bastage Dodgers again last night to pull within one game of .500 at 15-16. The Braves have been Jeckyll & Hyde all year. Lose 3, win 4. Lose 3, win 2. They sit at 14-16. I have to say that I like this pitching staff with the emergence of Ynoa. (I can't pronounce or spell his first name.) And on that Ynoa note...a few notes and tidbits.
Ynoa has hit a home run in each of his last two starts, including a grand salami. Pretty skippy for a pitcher.
I was never a Bryce Harper fan. Brash, cocky sumbitch....unless he is on your team. But, I've come to respect the guy over the last couple of years with some of the things he's said and done. The other night, he took a 97 m.p.h. heater to the jaw. It dropped him, but he got right back up. There was no intent in the pitch because the guy had just come off a lay off and had no control. He hit the next hitter with the very next pitch. Harper texted the pitcher afterward to let him know he was okay and there were no problems. Good move.
Speaking of pitchers, after last night's No-No by the Orioles, there have been 3 no-hitters thrown already this year. MadBum had a 7 inning no-hitter against the Braves in a double header, but MLB says they don't recognize it since he didn't go 9. Bull shit. Give him credit for it. As for the no-hitter last night by the Orioles', John Means, the only runner to reach base for Seattle came on a strike out that got away from the catcher and allowed the batter to reach first. Otherwise, a perfect game.

News and notes from the texting fingers of Buzz and Jar, the Angels released Albert Pooh-Holes today. Last year a of 10 year, $253 million contract. As Jarhead said, it would be nice to see the Cards pick him up and he can go out with Molina and Wainwright.
Yo Jar, does he go into the HOF as a Cardinal or an Angel?

St Louis Cardinals (11 Years)
Hits: 2073
Doubles: 455
Home Runs: 445
Batting Average: .328
Los Angeles Angels (10 Years)
Hits: 1180
Doubles: 214
Home Runs: 222
Batting Average: .256
I would hope a Cardinal, and I don't know with his DFA what that means to his personal contract with the Angels.
I know it doesn't make any sense for him to come back to St Louis (he's not going to take Goldy's position), and I know he wants to play every day (he apparently wants to get to 700HR - and he won't get that in the NL), but I'd love him to come back.
The last home stand of the season was already going to be big, with Waino and Molina potential last game, but I can't imagine what it would be like if Pujols was back. It'd be like the running of the gumps.

The ATL is 0-4 against the Blue Jays so far. Sitting at 17-18 and looking anemic so far this season. But there's some reason for hope.
Ronald Acuna Matada Jr. has been tearing it up and is hitting .311. Austin Riley is at .288, but that's only because he got on a short hot streak and raised his abysmal average quickly. Other than that, not one every day player is hitting over .230. There's no way Freeman, Albies, Ozuna, Swanson etc. will stay in that much of a funk.
Watching last night's game and heard Chip Caray say that just over half of the Braves' runs this year have come by way of home run. They've scored 160 total runs and have hit 51 HR's. That definitely speaks to where MLB is these days. Everyone throws 97 and every batter comes out of their shoes when they swing. It's no longer base hits and RBI's. It's launch angles and exit velocities.

Dead to me as well. I loved the game. Absolutely loved it.
Now? I have no idea about any of it. I won't go. I won't watch. I won't even follow the box scores. I don't care.
I did pick up a little of Auburn's games this year just out of curiosity, but even for that I've lost the passion. Win? Lose? Get rained out? Whatever. I've got other things to do than be concerned with it.

Over 33%, or 251/637th through the season. Quick check of some stats:
In the AL, the Tampa Sting Rays are 16 games over .500 and leading the East. Boston hanging with them, but the Yank Me's are only 3 games over. Hope it stays that way. The Orioles are still shitty.
The White Sox are leading the Central at 14 over par, while the A's and Trash Bangers are in a tight race out West.
NL leaders are the Mets, Brew Crew and Gay Pride Boys. Gotta' think the Fathers and Dodgers will fight it out later in the season. Bravos are 3.5 back and finally back to .500. They haven't been over .500 yet this year, so look for a 3-4 game losing streak starting tonight. The Cubbies are a half game back while the Cheatin' Cards are only 3.5 out after a slide.
The MLB leaders in Home Runs are Vlad Guerrero Jr. and Ronald Acuna Matada with 18 each. Show Hey Ohtani is one back at 17. Kris Bryant having a solid year at .307 13 HR and 38 RBI.
Pitching: How in the Sam Hell does Jacob deGrom have two losses (5-2) with a .62 ERA??? Dat boy is sick. The Braves ship Kevin Gausman off to the Pride Boys and he promptly goes 7-0 with a 1.29 ERA. Not complaining though, starting pitching hasn't been our problem. Jack Flaherty is dominating at 8-1, and on a side note, former AU standout, Casey Mize is 3-4 with a crappy Detroit club, with an ERA just over 3.00.
-
Braves are 2.5 back bucko....something interesting though, Braves and Mets are both at 29 in the win column, Mets have played 5 less games so they have 5 less losses. If they went anything worse than 3-2 in those 5 extra games....they lose ground.... This is a tight race.

I think it will stay tight most of the way because the division isn't all that skippy overall. I'd feel better if Ozuna hadn't broken his digits, then used his cast to break his wife's face. Austin Riley has picked up a good bit of the slack. though.
I was pumped about them handling Aaron Nola last night. (Perfect name for a guy that pitched at LSU) He's a damn good pitcher, very Wainwright in his approach. You're never getting the same pitch in the same place, twice. He's 93 inside. Then breaking one off at 81 down in the zone. Love to watch it, except against ATL. He did leave a change up out over the plate last night and Acuna about sent that shit out of the stadium.

I'm a regular Nostra Dumb Ass. Right after that post, they lost 4 straight. Won last night, but it's just wash, rinse, repeat this year.

I do know that teams with a bullpen that gives up 10 runs in 1 inning don't normally make the playoffs.

So as we head into July...
Snags in the lead at 37-41
Jar at 40-41, 1.5 GB
Buzzy in dead last place at 42-39
Cards have really disappointed this week, as they swept the DBacks. Coming off that strong performance vs the Pirates, as they dropped 3 of 4.

The Braves scored 20 tonight. Their reward tomorrow??? Jacob Fucking deGrom and his .069 ERA. Yeeeesshhh!!! Dude is hitting 100 on the gun every heater.

Yep. deGrom had one and a half shaky innings, then set down 17 in a row. Struck out 15 I believe. But the Bravos scratched out a run in the 9th for the W.

In just the 9th and 5 runs? Not many. It takes the Braves bullpen a full 3 innings to blow just a 3 run lead. It’s a slow death every game.

This sucks balls. Maybe they want to tear it down and build it back with younger talent. Bryant, I might can see for unloading salary purposes. ($18.6 mil) But Rizzo is only making $11 mil, which is a steal for him. And Buzz, would you say AR is probably the most popular Cub for quite a few years running? At least that's what I see from afarrrr.

We didn't go all in or fold the tents either. Picked up Adam Duvall from the Fish. I was quite pissed when they let him go after last season. He was crushing it. He's not hitting for average this year (.229) but his production is pretty good with 22 HR and 68 RBI. They also finally shipped The Panda off to the Cleveland Redskins for some light hitting outfielder. Hal-A-Lew-Ya.
But, the bottom line is we're still shitty.

So...we have traded Rizzo to the Yankmees for a couple of 19 year old prospects. Kimbrel to the White Sox for a couple of other prospects and now Baez to the Mets for some magic beans and an old lamp. Can I start bitching and moaning now?

That may be a great pick up. Actually, I have no idea how he's doing this year. But didn't he pitch in the 1957 World Series? Wasn't he best friends with Waino's dad?

Braves staying busy. They picked up a guy from KC who is hitting .192, so there's that. But they did get reliever, Richard Rodriguez, from the Buccos. He was needed more than anything else because our bullpen is teh succos.

When Duvall came to the Braves a few days ago, he had 22 HR and 68 RBI. That put him second and first in those categories with the Braves at that time. Hardly numbers for a role player. Last year, he appeared in only 57 games and put up 16 and 33 respectively, much of which came late in the season. He wasn't going to find his way into the starting line up with Acuna, Jr. and Ozuna blasting away like they were.
Duvall has never hit for average, and yeah, at this point in his career, he may be more of a role player. But the dude gives serious pop in the line up or pinch hitting. And I would have no problem with him taking over right field right now.

Watching the Braves-Cards last night and realized one of the reasons our production this year is for shit. Catcher, Travis d'Arnaud, went down right after the season started with a hand injury, so they brought up William Contreras, who sucked balls and they eventually had to send him down. Anyway, our current catcher for the last 28 games has been Kevan Smith. Gawt Damn, he sucks. .176 with 0 HR's and 3 whopping RBI's. Oh, and he's struck out 28 times.
-
I’d like to point out that the Braves are now over .500 and only 1.5 out of first.

The thing about the bullpen woes is what in the wide wide world of sports can Mike Maddux do? These are elite pitchers with elite arms who can all bring it up there close to 100. He can't hold a practice session and go, "Okay, but here's how you throw strikes. Here's how you don't hit the batter in the middle of the back. Now pay attention."
On another note, I was reading an article by some Cardinals beat writer, forget the name, and he was saying you can't make excuses for all the injuries and started throwing out all those damn metrics to prove his point. OBPWRISP....WHISP...CRISP...BLT.....TGIFridays etc. Honestly, I don't pay attention to any of that. But one point he made was basically saying that Schildt is too even-keeled. He should be slamming water coolers and kicking over buffet tables to get his team motivated. Maybe a little of that is true, but note to the author....it's a 162 game season. That shit only works for so long.
Jar, what's your take on Schildt?
-
Jar, what's your take on Schildt?
Ehhhh…. I thought of him as a mediocre hire. I was pleasantly surprised when they won the division two years ago, but I think a lot of the issues the team has are more GM related.

Kind of like how Tony Gwynn had the same amount of strikeouts in 20 seasons in a pitching era as this ohteni kid does the last few seasons.

I saw an interview with him where he said something I'll never forget. He said he knew where every hitter liked the ball, so he'd throw it there....but not exactly there. Just a smidge (My words) from the sweet spot. I get the feeling that hitters got so frustrated, thinking they got their pitch every time up there, but can't figure out why they grounded out twice and popped up once.
-

So my story...
Back in the day, I had the chance to sit in the Braves dugout for a series against the Reds. Except for the time I was blocking the dugout camera so Pat Corrales could pick his nose, I sat down toward the end of the bench where a baby pre-starter Andruw Jones used a pocket knife to carve figures out of a bat.
On the days he wasn't pitching, Maddux was in there and nobody bothered him. Never seen anybody study hitters like Maddux did. Wrote things down. I heard he would get video of all the home runs hit the night before and study location and selection.
What he did, more than anybody before or since, was be numbingly consistent. Same motion, same release point, same delivery no matter what it was. Did away with the visual cues the good hitters look for to know what type of pitch was coming. Which is why you'd see them swing early on the changeups, be late on the fastball and be confused as hell when the curve didn't break and sliced the edge of the plate.
No offense to Ryan, Glavine, Smoltz, Neikro, Pedro, Curt, Randy the seagull killer, Clemens, Gooden, Fernando, Hersh or any of the other pitchers through the years, but Maddux was the best I ever saw.

He's always been in my Top 3-4 all time. If not the best. He, Bob Gibson, Sandy Koufax, Nolan Ryan.
Yeah yeah, I know - Cy Young. I have zero frame of reference there, so yeah...sure.
I like all those you mentioned and they all had bright spots, especially Clemens for a long time. But Maddux was absolutely the most consistent pitcher I've ever seen. Much like Tony Gwynn on the other side of the plate and Bonds as well - juice or no juice - he was an all tool player and really just a tool in general.

I read an interview one time with Maddux where he was taking about how his consistent delivery would keep hitters off balance because the reality is that in the seconds they have from delivery to crossing the plate a batter cannot judge the speed of the ball..... "except that fucking Tony Gwynn."

Thats good stuff. He is one of the most underrated Players of all time, and I think much of that had to do playing for shit teams in SD....not a great lineup either, imagine if the guy had Acuna or Freeman hitting in front or behind him?
Some mind numbing stats to me about Gwynn:
• Gwynn faced Greg Maddux 107 times in his career -- more than any other pitcher. He batted .415/.476/.521 against the four-time Cy Young Award winner and Hall of Famer. That's easily the highest average against Maddux for any player with at least 70 plate appearances.
• Among the 38 pitchers he faced at least 50 times, he batted at least .300 against 32 of those 38 pitchers, including Tom Glavine, Nolan Ryan, John Smoltz and Orel Hershiser.
• In the past 100 years, nobody has more batting titles than Gwynn's eight.
• The historic 1994 season in which Gwynn batted .394 -- the closest anyone has come to hitting .400 since Ted Williams did so -- was cut short by the strike.
• Rather famously, Gwynn struck out three times in a game only once -- against Bob Welch and the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1986.
• Including postseason play, Gwynn faced 18 Hall of Fame pitchers for a total of 541 plate appearances. Gwynn batted .331/.371/.426 against them.
• In his entire 20-year career, Gwynn struck out 434 times -- an average of 21.7 K's per season. Last season, 129 players had struck out 22 times by the end of April
• Gwynn batted .300 in every season but his rookie year.

Absolutely amazing numbers. And the guy never looked like, or carried himself like a great athlete. Then he'd step in the box and slap a line drive over the shortstop's head.

I mean, if you're gonna' lose anyway....
The Dodgers have been "quietly" becoming what everybody thought they would be. Now 37 games over .500 and getting the pitching they need to win all the close ones.

I mean, they paid enough. Its basically an all star team.

I don't know why I keep watching... But they are now in sole possession of the second wild card. 1/2 game up on Cincy and 1 game up on San Diego.
Braves 4.5 up on Philly. Brewers up 13.5 on the Cards.
In the NL, SF and LAD are the only two teams to have clinched.
Magic number for the Brewers is 5, and ATL is 15.

The Mets, Phillies and Braves have taken turns at the top this year. Feels like it's not our turn anymore. I don't have the warm and fuzzies.

Not since the all star break Sancho.
Vegas said back in May that the division would go down to the Phils and Braves - 50/50 for each - and that the Mets had about a 8-9% chance - this is when the Mets were leading by several games. The amount of research they put into the roster depth of each team and schedule strength as the season progresses to predict these things is bewildering.
-
All is know is the Cards had their first sweep in Gotham in 20 years last night.
-
The board has been down, so there hasn't been any talk about some of the best, down to the wire races that we've had in quite a while.
The Bravos are 80-70 and hold a 3 game lead over Philly. We have one left against the D-Bags in Arizona. We've smoked that ass 3 games in a row, but face Madison Baumgartner today, who no-hit the Braves earlier this season. The season wraps up with a series in San Diego, then home for the Phillies and Mets. My sphincter is so tight, you couldn't drive a 10 penny nail up my ass with a sledge hammer. ($1 to Sir Charles)
What about those Cheatin' Cards? Just about written off a month ago, and now they are by far, the hottest team in the game. Currently on an 11 game winning streak, and right now, firmly in the driver's seat for a wildcard berth. Pretty amazing stuff, and coming at just the right time. I haven't looked at their schedule so I don't know who they close with. I'm sure the Cubbies are on that list, though.
-
Wrap up 4 game set at Brewers tonight.
Then onto Wrigley for 4, then host Brewers for 3 and Cubs for 3.
Plenty of games for the Cubs to play spoiler.

What about those Cheatin' Cards?
you misspelled Astros.

6. They just swept the Brewers for their 12th straight. Team record is 14... Which means the Cards will win the first in Wrigley, and drop the next 2.

And the Braves blew a 3-0 lead while the Phillies came back from a 5-0 deficit to win. The next couple of weeks will be like slowly pulling a band-aid off a wound.

Like you've mentioned before, the Braves have a tough path to close the season with SD, NY and Philly getting the Mets last - hopefully by that series the Mets will have lost all their mojo and fold knowing they are out of it.... The Phils only have the Braves between the Pirates and Marlins.
This may get bumpy

Magic Numbers:
Braves at 5 to clinch the NL East.
Cards 1 to clinch the WC.
Brewers have clinched the Central.
Giants magic number is 5 to win the West. They, along with the second place Dodgers, have already clinched a playoff spot.
So assuming everything holds...
Dodgers/Cards in WC - Mad Max vs Waino. Doesn't look good for Cards, but they do funny voodoo to LA in the post season.
Braves/Brewers in NLDS and Wild Card Winner/Giants in the other. Is that right?
In the AL:
Rays vs Yanks/BoSox and the ChiSox vs Astros. But Mariners and As trail Boston by 2 or 3 for the last WC spot.

Yup...
as it stands today - would be the seedings.
1. Giants
2. Brew Crew
3. Braves
4. Dodgers/Cards play-in game
I like the 3 we have going against the Phils.....as long as we don't get swept, I still feel good about it all going into the NYM series up 1.5 and the Mets all but demoralized and shutting it down for the year.
Plot twist here - Braves need to be more than a half game up on Philly after the Mets series to avoid having to make up that Rockies game from earlier in the year.

Swept the Phillies to take the division. Hopefully rest some arms during the 3 game set with the Mets to finish the season.
Saw where Waino will take the bump against, most likely, the Dodgers. Did you see that coming a couple of years ago? The guy has sort of recharged his career.

And Cards just resigned him to a one year deal. He will retire a Redbird next year along with Molina.

Holy Childhood 8th grade team won the semis today, and will now play on Thursday in the state finals. Down 6-2 in the second, they rallied for one in the 3rd, one in the 4th, and then blew up for 7 in the 5th, and cruised to an 11-6 win.
MiniAUJ was 2 for 4, with 2 RBI.

Congrats and good luck. However, I am highly offended by the Apache name. The level of cultural appropriation these 8th graders are participating in is both insensitive and shocks the mind. I'll bet you fans also do the chop during rallies. Who does that shit?
Oh wait......never mind. Good luck in the finals.

Who does that shit?
I'll tell you who. Those damned Catlicks.
Edit to add: They did beat a Lutheran school today, so we know who God loves more.

Last night, the Red Sox beat those putrid Yank Me's 6-2 to advance to the NLDS against Tampa. I adopted the Sox years ago as my American League favorite, but that was mostly as the antithesis of the Yankees. Honestly, I don't give two shits, just so no NY team makes the Series.
I heard one of the analysts this morning answer the question of what's wrong with the NYY. His answer was very telling and made me immediately think of the Braves. He said the Yankees took their home run, or strike out mentality into the playoffs, and you simply can't do that and be successful long term.
That describes the ATL perfectly. We have 4 guys with 30 or more HR's. Dansby Swanson has 27. And while Freeman and Austin Riley both ended the season as .300 hitters, the overall approach of this club is come out of your cleats on every swing. The rest of the line up is batting .220 to .257. I get so frustrated even listening to the Braves announcers, who have that mentality. "Well, let's get a couple of long ones here and go home."
Yes, I'm old. And old school. Your 3-4-5 hitters drive the ball and go yard. Everybody else's job is to get on base and go station to station. The lead off hitter gets on by walk, drag bunt, slapping the ball to left etc. If he doesn't steal, the 2nd place hitter moves him into scoring position any way he can. Then your boppers get him home.
Not anymore. And I don't see the Braves advancing too far because of it.

Dodgers walk it off against the Cards. The Birds left way to many runners on base. Just couldn't get the clutch hit. Having said that, I love the fact that we have the wildcard. It makes it so much more interesting down the stretch of a long season when there are a lot of teams still with a chance. But after 162 games, you have a one game, winner take all? Nah, bro!!! Goes against the way the whole season is played. It's like in football, having huge, elite athletes beat the shit out of each other for 59 minutes and 57 seconds (Mmmmm...sweaty athletes), only to have a 150 pound kicker come in for one play to decide the game.
Needs to start right after the regular season and play best of 3.

Preesh! Need to pick this up and not fly back to Brew Town. I'm also pulling for the Giants big time, simply because we are competitive with them. They're a better team, but we absolutely don't match up at all with Dodgers pitching. But, first things first.

As cold as the Dodgers bats have been the last two weeks, you may want to rethink that.
Absolutely will not root for Houston or the RedSox, so unless Tony can whip up some magic, I'll be rooting for the Senior Circuit.

WTF??? Okay, you follow them closely and I only see them from AFAAARRR. How do you fire someone who took a team from basically being out of it with less than 1/4 or 345/515ths of the season left, they go on a 17 game win streak, make the playoffs and barely lose to what may be the best team in the game? Is there more going on? I mean, the Cards were a better than average team this year, but honestly, I thought they had less overall talent than they've had in a while.

"Philosophical differences" as the official reason.
But... I think being out of it less than 1/4 of the season is part of it. A miracle 17 game winning streak to make the playoffs. I think bringing in Arenado, and teaming him with Goldie, you expect better than hanging with the Cubs until after the all star break (no offense, Buzzy).
I would have been content if he ditched the hitting coaches - Maybe Mo told him to get rid of Jeff Albert, and Shildt told him no.

Arenado hit .255 with 34 HR and 105 RBI. His production and average were somewhat down overall because....geez, I dunno'....maybe he wasn't playing 81 games in Coors Field. But name one team that wouldn't kill for that in the lineup. Forget that he's badass at the hot corner.
Goldy was spot on with his career average and production. .294 with 31 and 99. The man earned his $$$. Again, looking at it from the outside, other than those two, there was nothing about that lineup that struck fear in anyone. At least not going into the season. Molina is still the best back stop in the game, but let's face it, he and Matt Carpenter and Waino and Lester are a combined 853 years old. Obviously, Wainwright exceeded all expectations.
I guess my point is, I was amazed at the job Schlitz did. As you said, it may be the reported "philosophical differences". But from a managerial standpoint, fuck that.

Ain't gonna' happen. As soon as I saw the Dodgers had won, I thought, well, it was a nice come back to win the division and NLDS. Maybe we can get Acuna and Ozuna the wife beater back next year.
-
I'll be honest with you, Snags, I really don't have a dog in the fight in the NLCS. I've got friends who root for both teams, and I'll root for whoever wins the NLCS to win the WS. That being said, the last two games have been awesome to watch. Nail-biting, hold your breathe, exciting games. I know it doesn't do anything for your heart, but as someone who is non-biased, they've been everything you want in the NLCS - clearly two deserving teams.
And a hearty Fuck Georgia to everyone.

Dodgers have as much talent on their roster - lineup, SP, RP - as I think we've seen on a team since those 50's Yankee teams. It's sickening. So I don't feel sorry for them at all. Roberts is an avg mgr at best.
They are finally getting some bad luck and injuries and its been glorious to see their defeated body language during these two games.
and yes, F UGA! and Fuck Bill Plaschkcheeee

My hope is to take 1 in LA. We’ve lost 10 of the last 11 there. Just want to get back in front of the home crowd with a good chance.

They got that out of their system. Maybe Matty Ice will have a few words of wisdom for the Bravos.

I tuned the Braves out going into the bottom of the 8th. I couldn't bear to watch because I had a bad feeling about what was about to happen, and didn't want to watch. I turned back almost a half hour later, hoping to see the game over and a Braves 3-0 lead. No, Kenly Jansen was taking the mound to strike out 3 straight for the save. I didn't even see a replay of anything the Dodgers did. Bastards!
Another reason I turned was, that game started at 4:00 p.m. It was well after 8:00. Playoff baseball is exciting. But jeeeeebus christ, there's no excuse for 4 1/2 hour games.

Luke Jackson has no business in a high profile playoff game....ever. I said this 2 years ago and stand by it. His post season era vs regular season is drastically different. Its Kershaw on steroids. He absolutely let his own little ego get the better of him with 96 mph Chest high on that pitch. Yeah dude, you aint gonna win that one with Bellinger. That guy is entirely too smart to miss that twice.
Sad part is Snags, he doubled down on it post game in his presser. Said he would do it again. That displays terrible judgement. Snit has to sit him now the rest of the NLCS because he's become a mental liability. It was obvious Bellinger was not playing small ball. He was aiming 400 ft out to the outfield. He almost fell down on Strike 1 he swung so hard. When a former MVP that is known for hitting clutch post season HRs is being that aggressive at the plate, you do NOT tee it up for him. You make him chase. You go offspeed. You throw down and away. Walk him if you must and take your chances with a 3 run lead. But you do not play Homerun derby with the guy, and then say you would do it again if given the chance. MORON. MORAN. DUMMY. IDIOT.
Holy shit, where's the Tylenol.
-
I still can't decide if I want the Braves to choke on a bag of dicks now or in the world series?

Yooouuuu're despicable!!!

I want to give him the heat and announce my presence with authority!

1999... Auburn wins in Death Valley, and Braves make the World Series.
2021... Auburn wins in Death Valley... I'm sensing a pattern here, and you should tell all of your friends who are Braves fans that Bobby Cox would want them to root for Auburn in Death Valley every other year from here on out.

I will say this. In an effort for the world to work like I want it to I am wanting the Braves to go to the world series. This kills two birds with one stone.
1) They can lose another world series which is always fun.
2) All the self righteous motherfuckers that had the all star game pulled from Atlanta have to eat a couple of games of dicks in this "racist state".

The esteemed hippie from Oregon brought this point up yesterday, and I'm jumping on the Barves bandwagon because of it.

I don't listen to him ever since he ditched me when I was out there. I was going to reign pestilence and plague upon him but he already lives in Oregon.

We close this bitch out Saturday night. And yes, I hope MLB has to eat a puss covered cock having to spend time in the ATL.

MLB going ATM in the ATL. That has a nice ring to it.

That I can agree with.

Buzz, anything exciting happening tomorrow in sports?
Only thing I can think of is that Mascoutah High School Girls Volleyball has a Regional Semi Final against the East St Louis Flyers. Also, the 8th Grade Holy Childhood boys basketball team has their third game of the season against the St John Lutheran team. Mini AUJ had a break out game last week against St James, scoring a team high 19.

There are several good JV football games coming up in the next few nights. Plus, I have an old guy slow pitch softball game tomorrow night. That will definitely be must see TV.

Since there's nothing good on TV tonight, I think the Mrs. and I may get a jump on a little early Christmas shopping.

If you want the link to watch high school volleyball online, let me know, and I'll get you my login...
Seriously, good luck tonight. Enjoy the feeling in your stomach, and how you haven't been able to eat since breakfast. Enjoy the feeling of only exhaling when the ball hits your catcher's mitt. Late October baseball is the absolute best...
I guess there's only one thing left to do...

Here's the best way to describe my outlook on tonight. The 2013 MNC game between The University of Auburn and Florida State. FSU pretty much bitch slapped err'body all season. We were coming off the worst season in AU history, and finding a way for everything to fall into place for us to be in the Natty, my only hope was that we didn't walk out holding our asses in our hands.
Then we get the ball to start and Mason rips off about 12 on the first carry of the game. That's when I exhaled and thought, "Okay, we can play with these guys." Until I see us put up a crooked number or two, I'll go into this thing expecting a 4 game sweep.
-
Glad to see the braves took game one. I need the Astros in 5 which gives the most number of games in Atlanta for woke MLB to choke on dicks.

I hump half of your post.

Game 1 win means we won't get swept. Boom!
I know it's playoff baseball, and it's managed differently with way more pitching changes than would be made in the regular season. So that obviously lengthens the games. But holy damn, they need to do something to speed this up. That game didn't get over until right around 11:30. I'm not doing that again tonight. I need a lot more beauty rest than most.

1-1 Back to Atlanta to have MLB suck cods. I wonder if they can make the commissioner buy a ticket? I wouldn't give that fucker one.
-
Ok, Snags, your boys did what they needed to do. They won on the road, and have home field advantage.
Enjoy your off day.

Yep. Happy with the split, which is exactly what I was hoping for. I like how we match up with them in every area except the bullpen. They keep running quality arms out there, and there's nobody you think, hey, we might can get this guy.
And yes, tonight is football night, after a low country boil we're going to.

On a baseball related note, PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals) sent a letter to MLB asking them to discontinue the use of the term, "Bullpen". They said words matter, and this degrades sensitive animals. No joke, I just read an article on it.
And I agree, words matter. How about these words? Fuck off!!!

now the dummy is trying to backpedal his thoughts on the matter. He should run for congress.

Guess Dusty sacrificed a chicken in the locker room. Braves better clinch tomorrow night, they don't want this going 7 in the juice box.

Every bull I have talked to said they have no problem with the term.

I felt really good going into Sunday night. Had the momentum, playing at home, and most importantly, the Braves hadn't had a breakout game yet where they put a bunch of hits together over the course of an entire game. They bust out with a granny to start and I was all, heeeeere we go.
Umm, no! Got outscored 9-1 from there.
Well, 2 games to get one and take the World Serious. Or, they go just ATL like the ATL always seems to ATL.
-
Congrats, Snags!!!
Told you the Apaches would help you win it!

Tacos and Beer got the job done.
Screw that mlb guy in the neck for dicking over the ATL.

Although I always like Atlanta teams to lose it did warm a small part of my blackened heart that the woke MLB mob has to suck on the Braves cods.

She's working at the Atlanta Braves Fan Experience event at the park. Throw a baseball through the gap in her teeth from 60'6" away and win a prize. They were going to give $1000 if you made the throw, but after careful consideration realized that even Fauci's narrow ass could get it in there so now they only give $1 if you make it.

Just realized that the Cubs 5 year window is now closed, and Buzz can official participate in the Bitch and Moaning next year. Snags, you are exempt, congrats! Guess that means the Cards are on the clock as being the X franchise that's gone the longest without winning (we are ignoring the Orioles, because they are the Orioles).

I will start bitching and moaning the minute the Braves start breaking this team up. Ideally, you're thinking, "Hey, they just won the WS and get Acuna back next year. Why change it up?" That ain't happening. Hell, even Freeman is a free agent now. If I had to guess, I'd say he finishes his career in Atlanta. But if a big market team comes calling with mucho dinero, he may want to see how he looks in Dodger blue. I've even thought it wouldn't be too far fetched to see him in a Cubbies uni in 22'.
I'd better stop. I'm getting pissed already.
Now that you mention it, Jar, all 3 of our franchises have put on a ring within the last decade. Didn't the Cards win it in 2011?
And yeah, the Orioles.

As much as I would love to see it, he won't be in Cubbie pinstripes. Not unless he will accept some magic beans and a 12er of PBR for a 1 year contract.

The only thing that made me pay attention this post season was the opportunity for the Braves to stick it to that rat bastard of a commissioner!
