I don't even remember what a 9-3 season feels like.  Loving your optimism.

its a very manageable schedule but lets not do this again with 10-2 proclamations please. If it happens, it happens. I fully believe in the double digit win prediction jinx for Auburn Football.

15-0

'SHIP!

Really, though, other than the OU-Mizzou run, this is a pretty great schedule.

Man, you are so smart it’s as if you hold back from saying anything because you’re afraid that the rest of us won’t understand your complex and sophisticated responses. We are in awe.

Ain't gone lie to ya', playa.  2024 is going to be wild in college foosballz.

Do I like all the changes in the sport that have swept in, in just a few short years?  NIL, The Port Hole, Conference expansion/elimination.....NO!  The 12 team playoff is the first really good, and fair thing that's happened. But it's all here, and there won't be any weeks without some killer match ups.

On top of the new SEC teams, LSU has USC and UCLA in 2024

It gets real for FUGA, with an opener against Clemson, and a stretch that includes Alabama, Auburn and Texas

Speaking of Texas, their second game is at Michigan

Speaking of Michigan, they now play USC

Oregon has both THE Ohio State University and Michigan

It goes on and on and on.  No weeks off in 2024.  Shit's going to be fun.

I like the Port Hole & NIL, although NIL needs some regulations/caps.

A good life lesson for these chirren would be to take their accumulated wealth and redistribute it amongst the team so that they all make the same.  This will keep these famous pro athletes from ignorantly walking up to podiums preaching socialist ideals of which they don't personally practice, just preach.  A lesson is best learned by experience.

I love & respect tradition, but I have never been so excited for Auburn Football and college football in general as I am these days.

I'm for this as long as there are some on the coaches as well. If they can jump and hop everywhere (aka Lane Kiffin-ing), the players can then as well because they already have to navigate registrars offices and academic murky waters.

I am with you on coaches as well.  They get paid way too much, but the market can bear it apparently.

Not a fan of the portal or NIL in their current forms.  It's like they said, okay, let's do this......HOLY SHIT, what have we done?

NIL: I have zero problem with any athlete having the opportunity to earn as much money as they can, based on their abilities, their name, image and likeness in the sport. What NIL was supposed to be, was a player being allowed to endorse a product, do a Dr. Pepper commercial, get paid for an autograph session, etc.  You say Nissan wants to pay you half a million to say a couple of lines to the camera while you drive off in the 2024 Pathfinder?  Congrats, knock yourself out.

It was never intended to be what it has become, which is nothing more than donors getting up a shit ton of money, putting it in an account, and coaches going, "I need $450K for this running back.  And grab me $300K more for a 4* DE we're trying to flip from Florida."  All they've done is make legal, the seedy, dark side of college sports.

The Portal:  Ain't it nice being able to fill some needs quickly by choosing from a list of free agents?  When the portal opened, really just a few short days ago, over 1,000 players jumped in it. Current numbers: Just north of 1,300, with less than 200 having committed.  I've seen almost 3,000 in the portal at any one time in recent years.  The number of kids who screw up their futures, is staggering. They leave a scholarship behind, thinking they can jump right into another, and that's just not happening.

I have no problem with kids being able to transfer, just as any regular student can.  But just like with NIL, they have to get a handle on all this.  The sport ultimately won't be able to survive it.

At least not with any of us, according to jmar.

I don't claim to have any knowledge of portalization. Only know that it can be a great tool to fill a glaring need. And as I peeked at several ranking services our team was way down the list(s) with only two transfers in.

I never got into Fantasy Football but in trading card terms it seems that programs such as Ole Miss and Colorado are able to collect multiple
players for a position that's already crowded.
Someone assigns a dollar value to a
name and that player becomes free to choose another home. Then there are those transfers who have never accomplished anything to speak of other than filling out roster depth. They are assigned a value as well.

What I don't understand is how roster numbers are to be realized when a team has two transfers in and as many as 10 transfers out.

Can anyone here bring me up to speed because just looking at the rankings it seems that many of these programs have a brand new or 2nd year head coach. Other's have just lost their starting QB to graduation or possibly even the portal.

So beyond that it looks like is a list of mostly 2nd tier havenots that have been savaged by this new "convenience."

Wife and I are talking about going back for the labor day games again. Since we seem to have coaches who are working.  I am sure this excites many of you.
