Title: Titanic Observation Sub Disaster
Post by: The Six on June 21, 2023, 07:57:24 AM
You all following this submarine piloted by a joystick that has sank while taking five super rich people to view the Titanic wreckage? Call me a cynic but I don't think there is a rescue at 13000 feet. It's a recovery mission. Horrifying to think about how that went down, what those people must have thought.  :jaw:

It CAN be recovery if it starts soon enough with the right tools. I know a super sub bot has been deployed from France to start today but I also know they run out of air Thursday AM. This may have worked if it had been used Monday. Odds are slim.

It's like trying to find a lego in a pool in the dark with your eyes closed. Tragic.

I am no deciphering genius, but I think what he wrote is shorthand for "fuck them".

Rich folks, droppin' $250k each for submarine tours at the bottom of the ocean with unproven tech. as their vessel doesn't seem to be gaining a sympathy vote from nook.

Pakistani billionaire who is apart of the WEF and a trustee for a Pakistani corporation whose main business is food & agriculture, energy, petrochemicals, and telecommunication infrastructure.  Seems like an accident.

I had my suspicions.  Thanks for clarifying.

I don't know, man. They went down to the ocean depths in an experimental seacraft built with "improvised parts."

Looks like a disaster that was waiting to happen.

Yeah, I'm not wishing ill on folks generally, but fuck these guys and every dumbshit rich asshole who dies on Everest.

Saw the old "Pimp My Ride" meme with Xzibit dusted off for this "tragedy."  To paraphrase it was essentially: "Yo dawg, I heard you like nautical tragedies so we put a nautical tragedy on your nautical tragedy!"

Maybe the guy running this should have hired based on merit and skill and not based on "diversity" and "inspiration."

The thing was piecemealed together and had a Logitech playstation controller. I am not sure I would go 1 mile off shore with that thing in the gulf much less 2.5 miles to the ocean floor in the cold Atlantic with it. Dumbasses.

That doesn't look all that "diverse" just younger.

You don’t know what they identify as. This is ridiculous for you to jump to conclusions. And very close minded.

When in doubt always choose younger, less experienced and more “inspirational”  Practical experience and knowledge is overrated.

Hope they can inspire their way to the surface.

I'm seeing all these bad taste memes going around about these poor souls trapped in the submersible.  How can people sink so low?

$1.00 to GF

The reports of his death have been greatly exaggerated.

Unless this thing imploded, there should have been some sort of contact.
All the safety features were to immediately bring it to the surface. These things don’t just disappear.
The megaladon is back.

It imploded in all likelihood.  These folks are smashed to a molecular level at this point.

ETA: Debris field reportedly located.

Just announced the debris field is from the Titan.  Families notified they gone.

I do wonder if it happened on the initial descent, since they lost contact 1hr 45 mins into a 2 hr dive.

I would think that has to be the case.  No other reason to lose contact.

That’s the explanation that keeps you sane.  Otherwise it’s pretty gruesome.

Per reports, the Navy now thinks they heard (via sonor) the implosion on Sunday and this whole time was confirming what all of their experts were fairly certain of already. If it happened the way they say, the people on board may have known for a few seconds something was up (warning systems lights and such) but it was over in milliseconds.

I heard one expert says that the time it takes you to blink was longer than the time they had when the hull ruptured.

I can think of about 250,000 less expensive ways to go though...

This is also close to the same amount of time that it takes me to slap a motherfucker to sleep.
