Title: Have Your Son Learn To Play QB
Post by: Snaggletiger on March 07, 2023, 05:35:38 PM
I have no problem with players gettin' dey monies in pro sports.  I've always been of the opinion that they wouldn't pay them these monster contracts if the money wasn't there.

It's there!!!

Things have really escalated in the recent years, which is fine, but there's been a ridiculous trend, especially in the NFL.  If a starting QB is up for a new contract, the teams are either putting a franchise tag on them, which basically means we got you locked down for one year, at some sick number. Or, they're signing them to "long term" contracts.

So, the trend is, if I'm a starting QB in this league, and you want to sign me, you're going to pay something that's either comparable to, or in excess of what the last guy got. Doesn't matter if I'm All Pro, or All Suck.  Case in point...point of fact....quid pro quo.....Daniel Jones, of the New York Football Giants, just signed for 4 years at $40 million per.

Let that sink in.  Jones had his best year this past season, throwing for 3,200 yards, 15 TD's and 5 Int's.  And that's worth $40 million a year?

No, it's not DeShaun Massage Grope Watson money.  $46 million per, with $230 million guaranteed.  But comparable, especially when you consider the extreme level of mediocrity that Daniel Jones has brought to the league.

BTW, A-A-Ron Rodgers is owed about $60 million this year. If the Jones deal hasn't sunk in yet, marinate on this for a while.

Based on their value to the franchise and long term health effects, you could make a case that the players are underpaid.

I don't know the answer to this question, but I'm wondering if the league provides health insurance after a player retires.

I've heard of one these "search motors" they call the Goggled Chromes.  You can use it with your interwebs to find things.

And porn.

Don't teach your kid to play QB. Teach your kid to pitch. There are a lot more open positions for pitchers.

the gays celebrate.

Not in a world full of pitchers.  They need some catchers in the mix, too.

Even though there are a lot more available slots, there's also a shit ton more competition.  Baseball has truly become an international sport.  I think there are around 20 different countries represented.

Or, better yet, be able to throw with either.

I’ve always thought that it would be great to be bi.

Jarrett Stidham signs a 2 year deal with the Broncos.  Not the money we've been talking about, but $5 mil a year ain't chump change.

Your son will have a better chance at a paid scholarship and money as a pitcher. There are only a few QBs compared to pitchers.
Many colleges do not even have a football team. But they have money for baseball.
Teach them to pitch and hit. Everything else is worthless.

As a former QB, I get it. But the odds are against your kid being a highly paid QB more so than a pitcher.

Speaking of the professionals, Neiko Torched just took a position as a Defensive Assistant with the Seattle Seahawks. The guy is making quite the nice career for himself.

tends to be the trend with players and coaches that leave the Gus nest.
