True.

But I think Dilfer has a chance to succeed.  He will do fine recruiting.  He's got name recognition, a Super Bowl ring to flash, and a history (even if false) of helping develop QBs.  He can sell a path to the NFL. He can sell the connections he has to coaches in the league.  I think he'll be able to attract good assistants (likely green up and comers).  Having the connections he does from his QB camp give him a base of support that's not insular (something no Auburn coach has had since Tuberville).

Would he succeed at A&M or Penn State?  Probably not.  But UAB is a good place to establish himself as a head coach.
