Supposedly they're doing tours for the hoi polloi all day Saturday.  I might try to sneak in and get some free breakfast.

Quite possibly just me, but I think this trend has gone too far.

What happened to losing teeth in the mud, drinking from a leaky water hose, running in the heat until you puked in a bucket, piling reeking practice gear in the corner of a shower, getting taped up on the tailgate of a truck, watching film on benches in a locker room that reeked of sweat, dirt, and grass?

We had creaky school buses with no AC.  We weren’t cavemen.

Im not talking just football honestly.   My daughter’s dorm room as a freshman was nicer than anyplace I’d lived for most of my life.  Obscene largesse. Both my kids drove nicer cars than I did for the majority of my life.

It’s my opinion we are fucking up. Work ethic in the younger generation is basically zero.  They want rewards they haven’t earned.  This complex isn’t the problem, it’s just a symptom of a much broader issue.

They’ll never understand until they face that adversity. Most of them will fail because they are not prepared.

so you're part of the problem or the solution.  we can't go backwards. that is dumb.

you can make for the best.  it's all for us to do so...it's what we strive for whether it be work, family or yourself.

you can instill values, hardwork, ethics...that hasn't changed.  it is the commitment or desire that has changed.  that's the problem.

We either go back or we will be forced to go back.

Can you REALLY instill all those things when, for instance, an 18-year old kid has a $91 million athletic center at his disposal that offers free haircuts, PS5 on a 50-foot screen, etc.?  Can you REALLY instill all thos  when a 16-year old girl (whose mom works at Wal Mart) in your neighborhood gets a brand new BMW SUV for her birthday -- and promptly turns it over in a ditch?

It's a good theory and I've tried.  My kids work, have worked.  But they're not the norm.

I know that we have not agreed about much through the years but I do agree with ending the program. Enough is enough.

you most certainly can do so …it’s the commitment. a desire.  a willingness.

some of those athletes that walk through those doors get it.  others won’t.  it works in a circle

I have two pairs of camo!
I had some with fur, but they were too hot.
I mostly use them for around the house and quick outside jaunts.
I do feel they cause your feet problems.

As a player who had to dress in the bottom of the colosseum and walk across the road to practice, I cannot even imagine the amenities that this place has. Hell, I just wanted cleats that didn't hurt my feet.

In this day and age, you have to have the facilities AND the NIL money to compete.

The number? Not always. But most likely was more than you had.
The other players allowed me to talk to them as they were helping me up.

at least you played. My understanding is that they rarely see the kind of contact in college that we saw even in HS, anymore. Which is understandable but could account for piss po tackling.

Our nil collective (otv) raised between 13-14 million in its first 45 days. It’s one of the best in the country now. And if a competent coach is hired? It will grow even more. Take a look at ole miss, msu, clemson and a few others who barely grace a million in theirs.

My baseball cleats were Pony.  Good lord, I loved those things.  Freshman year I had the low tops with the fold-over flap.  Twisted my ankle and switched to high-tops sophomore year. White with white trim.  Wore those cleats until they literally fell apart.  Was playing softball by then.

First swapped to Saucony (loved them) and then got bamboozled by the way some new black Nikes looked. Spent WAY too much, so I felt obligated to wear them. I had near constant foot and ankle problems with the Nikes that I wrote off to being older, but in retrospect......it was the shoes.

I wore those Pony's with the flap all through little league and into the pony league.  They looked so good with the stirup socks and the knee length baseball pants.  I felt just like Wade Boggs.

What's all the fuss about My Little Pony?

Last night, someone posted on the bookfaces, an old photo of our 15 year old All-Star team from Dixie Majors in Montgomery.  Long story short, Dixie Majors decided to have a separate 15 year old State tournament because at that time, DM was 15-17 year olds.  Anyway, I was thinking the same thing looking at the picture.  I loved the stirrup socks with the pants pulled up to the knee.  We all had em'.  I couldn't understand why anyone would wear them at the ankles and hide those fly ass stirrups.

And to be clear, I posted that to make sure everyone knew I was an All-Star.  Never mind that there were only 14 of us in that league, and one guy was blind in his left eye. I was an All-Star.  It was a major award.
