Ahhmon Richards- Miami vs AU battle. Auburn wants to take one of him, Nate, or Nixon. First come first serve. Miami trending
Elysee Mbem-Bossee- Conflicting info. Some sources feel AU will make a push. Others feel EMB is not a real target anymore.
Erik Swenson- Not much noise w/ AU besides Hand following him on twitter. Not believed to be 1 of the top 3 OT targets
Jayvaughn Myers- Believe he and his brother will be Tigers. Jay isn't taking anymore visits as of now.
Jordan Griffin- UK commit. Says he's solid but is on an OV to AU right now.
Nigel Warrior- Temper expectations for NW, he is a UTk legacy and will be a hard pull.

Really like our starting corners. You can fool Jones once but not twice. My biggest concern (coverage-wise) with the secondary is how well our new safeties interact with the corners because we a devoid of experienced linebacker depth.
That said, our secondary cannot stay healthy if it is making the majority of the tackles.

I totally agree. And that won't be changing this year. We have 1 LB (Tre Threat) enrolled already, and I've seen word that we are possibly recruiting Steven Davis Jr as a LB. If he commits, it will finish off the LB class for this season. And to go back to your closing point, if I'm not mistaken, Rudy Ford has lead the team in tackles, the past 2 seasons. I just thank God we have an All-American in the making in Carlton Davis.

After effectively eliminating Florida State from his top schools a few days ago, it would appear Nate Craig-Myers has trimmed his list yet again.
Per ESPN’s Derek Tyson, the four-star receiver from Tampa (Fla.) Catholic has cancelled his upcoming official visit to Ole Miss. That makes Auburn and North Carolina, two schools he’s already taken official visits to, the likely front-runners for Craig-Myers ahead of National Signing Day.
Craig-Myers, who de-committed from Auburn in May, is one of a handful of receivers the Tigers continue to court, along with four-stars Ahmmon Richards (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and Tre Nixon (Melbourne, Fla.). He was recently visited in-home by coach Gus Malzahn, wide receivers coach Dameyune Craig and secondary coach Wesley McGriff on Sunday.
“They were telling me I’m on the top of the list of the guys that they need,†Craig-Myers said of his official visit to Auburn. “I can be one of the marquee guys who come in and play right away because they need guys.â€

Following his official visit to Georgia over the weekend, David Marshall received two phone calls: one from Auburn coach Gus Malzahn and another from defensive line coachRodney Garner.
The three-star defensive end said both appeared “worried,†as Marshall, whose commitment to the Tigers has become murky in recent weeks, has shown a growing interest in the Bulldogs under Kirby Smart.
“They’re coming to see me in the morning,†said Marshall, who intends on returning to Athens next week. As a result, he will no longer visit Ole Miss on Jan. 29 as originally planned.
“I probably will be going back next weekend with Tyler Clark to hang out with the players and to get to know the new staff and coaches,†Marshall told SEC Country’s Jeff Sentell.
The 6-foot-2, 272-pound standout from Upson-Lee High School said that while he has a better overall relationship with the Tigers staff, he’s developed a better relationship with Smart.
“Auburn is still standing out because of the relationship I have with the coaches,†Marshall said. “But I have a better relationship with coach Kirby (Smart) than I do with any coaches that are recruiting me.â€

If he goes to UGA (the only other place that's even remotely possible) you can put your money on Kirby Smart borrowing from the real Nick Saban playbook -- the one that keeps track of cars, suits, wheelz, steroids, cash payments and REC activities. If Smart's doing that, UGA will go down in flames.
If I'm wrong and he comes to AU for anything other than making us look bad by pretending he's considering us and giving al.com the opportunity to write "Auburn misses on big targets on NSD while Bama climbs the recruiting rankings ladder.." then WE are neck deep in shit that's going to get us in trouble.

But if you look back at my other posts in here, I said that with the two LBs committing to Michigan, we likely sign SDjr as a Nickel LB, and be done at LB. However should we just stop recruiting him? Granted he (Davis) was quoted as saying "They (Auburn fans) outnumber us in Gordo." Doesn't look too good. But you still court him unless he shuts you out.
D'Angelo Benton was a prime example. He was considered an LSU lock forever, then signed with us out of nowhere.
Again, I don't think we land him, but i do feel it isn't wise to just give up on him like we did with Mack Wilson.

Yeah I saw on another site people talking about compliance at AU, and how it's really proactive. Other schools are doing things compliance at AU won't let us do. I guess Pearl is being really handcuffed by it.

But right now he's a 3A linebacker with a dad who was a moderate talent and got a quick sip of the NFL (started one game in his 28-game career). Right now Auburn is sitting at 17(?) recruits of which some have already enrolled. That means the AU coaches seem to think tomorrow will be a big day for the good guys.

I haven't kept up as much this year with my skreetz re: recruiting. But, I had identified DT and LB as a target need. If we get the 5 star left out there from Ga whose name I don't recall, we look pretty decent at DT, no? We gots Antwuaan Jackson, who from what I've read is pretty sporty. And maybe one other DT. But pretty skrong DE's too.
But LB? Tre Threat is a very athletic 4 star out of Spanish Fort. I've seen him and Dansbyesque comes to mind. I don't know if he's big enough to make an immediate run stopper. Maybe.
But he was the only LB, iirc. Most everyone feels that we don't have a legit shot at Davis, the 5 star Alabammer legacy. Point is, I feel like we need another LB or two. Even if it's someone who needs to develop.
Steele hasn't seemed to make a big positive impact on recruiting. Not that I expected it. But, it seems like most of the guys we are getting, we were already on their short list. At least with my limited research, I've assumed this.
Overall, must say I'm a little underwhelmed right now. The potential for PT on defense especially should be a huge attraction for these kids.

Question: In the Tayshawn Manning piece, it says he's going to try and enroll in on-line classes, either through AU or a local school. Auburn is saying they'll honor his scholarship whenever he's ready. I assume we take him off the board for this class? He's still listed on a couple of sites.

From the stuff I've been reading, I think we close very well in the defensive backfield. But LB??? The only real references I see are the outside shot we have at Ben Davis, which I'm with K on.

I knew there was some reason you get to stay here. You are correct sir. I checked with my skreetz and I believe it's 4 4* and a 3*(in Muschamp's nephew)--who prolly isn't a slouch. And there is pretty good size in this group.
So, we can afford to be selective this year. I stand corrected.
So, we finish with Brown the 5*DT and maybe get the Nate Craig Meyers WR and his brother plus a safety (Warrior or the other kid) and have a very solid class.
I would think very close to top 10. I just want us to be in the top 15, as long as we are filling needs. That seems to be the magic number that will most likely allow teams to compete for titles.

You get corrected because those kids barely have any experience and we have to stick three of them on the field to learn on the fly. Tre' looks ready but he hasn't had to keep running on the field like the recently departed.
