This has been an entertaining game regardless if AU wins. I will tell you this, AU has some heart. Xavier is bigger in every position but yet AU brought their hard hats tonight.

OT it is. Hasn't Xaviers top scorer fouled out?

Yeah Davis is gone. Bowers has 4 and we can't hang much down low.

Frees up a defender to help for Xavier. They knock down FTs on drives. We likely need threes.

Great win. Our guys play as hard as any team out there. Talent is shining thru under Pearl. He gets the most.

Lots of bright spots but my Player of game goes to Canada. 15 pts and had avg'd less than 5

agreed. Kicking myself because I considered going but was lazy. Would've been fun atmosphere. I recorded whole game but I missed first half. When I started watching we were down 11.

Hell of a game and a team effort.

We gotta get some meat on Reed's bones. He needs some biscuits and red eye gravy.

Great effort. We are horrible from the line, a poor rebounding team and generally overmatched inside. But...we play very good defense, get pentration buckets and hope to get double figures from Harrell, Mason and Bowers.

We didn't know Canada was capable of this. (blame Barbee)
Reed needs 25 lbs. some footwork and a jump hook. He can only get better.
Ross-Miller can play but turns ball over and struggles to fit in.

We were down 13 at the half. Came back with grit and and toughness. I really haven't seen AU play like this in a long long time. Like jmar basically said, there is some work to do but with Pearl at the helm, we should be in for one heck of a ride. I love it.

Was a great game against a talented, well-coached and larger team.

Unfortunately my fucking DVR stopped recording with 38 seconds to go in regulation so I missed the double-OT thrill ride.

Bowers is big and clumsy, but plays with fire.
Mason is a great outside presence and drives nicely to the basket.  Ditto Canada, though that was an unexpected performance and I want to see him sustain it.
Reed had some good blocks and one nice finesse put back basket.  He needs some weight, though, pronto.

Loved the redemption steal and basket for the kid near the end of regulation (Ross-Miller maybe?).

The future is bright for AU Bball.

Was wrong about the game count. Xavier was actually the eleventh game.
We should take the next three non-conference games to get us to 9-5.

Looking ahead though I could see where an NIT berth is within reach. I think this team can get 16-18 wins.

The first six conference games are key because Florida hasn't hit its stride but the game is in Gainesville.
I say we start very strong before we meet the grind in late Jan. well into Feb.

IMO we will need a sweep (tough to win on the road) against Missouri, Alabama and/or Georgia to get to 17 or split among the three while needing to steal one from either LSU, TAMU or win in Gainesville. I think we are the 7th or 8th best team in the SEC.

Realistically: 7-11 (16-16 overall)
but hoping for 8-10 (17-15)
or 9-9 (18-14).

@Vanderbilt     W
Missouri    W
@Florida   L
South Carolina    W
M.State    W
@Alabama L
TAMU    L
@Tennessee    L
@LSU    L
Ole Miss    L
Arkansas    L
@Georgia   L
Alabama    W
@Kentucky    L
LSU    L
@TAMU    L
@Missouri    W
Georgia    W

Yeah it is imperative we have Bowers on the blocks at least as a scoring threat.
Reed can spell him nicely with his shot blocking ability (& fouls to give) while he learns and Thompson can eat some minutes.

If Canada, Ross- Miller and hopefully Granger can fit within the framework we can surprise.
Free throws are our bugaboo. We can get around a couple of unforced errors and Pearl can limit those that he allows to shoot threes but we have been desperate for bench scoring and maybe the Xavier game can be the signpost showing us the way.

• Also learned that the next opponent, Texas Southern beat Michigan St., so there's that.
