And still to this day I have yet to set foot in the new...ish arena.
That's a shame. It's a great place to sit while you wait for the football game. It's also a great venue for Fan Day.
and for Garman to catch up on his sleep.
Is there going to be a basketball outing for the X this season? If I can stay out of the Midwest long enough, I'd like to make to one.

the free throw line, where as a team Auburn shot 80 percent (16-for-20).Really? Did they move the free throw line closer or something?

111-92 loss to.....Northwestern State. No, not Northwestern of the Big 10. Northwestern State of the Southland Conference. 72 points allowed in the second half.

20
No, I think 20 losses is a very realistic goal. I believe we can reach that without much effort.

Good Lord. They had to pull out a 5 point win last night over 0-7 Tennessee State.
Last season was horrible. This season could be epically shittastic. Don't know if either of those are words but they sound appropriate for describing this program.
The dudes on Sportscall yesterday said this may be the worst team we play all year. Their rpi was around 300 they said. Good grief.
In other news, UAB beats UNC.
Have we gotten our invitation to the big dance yet?
29 point beyotch slapping at the hands of Iowa State last night.
Sad thing is they led isu about 5 mins in. Looked decent. Then just fell apart. No rhyme or reason. It just happened and suddenly.
Only 19 more losses to go. I think we can do it.
I've evolved on the Barbee debate. It's time for him to go. We will have premiere football & baseball programs. We may never have a premiere basketball program, but Barbee has proven he can't even keep us in mediocrity.
Serious question: Does anyone follow basketball enough to know of an up and coming coach that could possibly garner Auburn's attention?
I follow it but I'm more along the lines of finding someone willing to take it that has been there and done that. Don't know if it's possible to make a "splash hire" at AU given our history. But geez Louise, I just want to be competitive and make the dance every now and then.

Barbee just needs more time and some better facilities.
Again? What did he do with them the first time?
We had the chance to get tubby this past offseason. Texas tech snagged him. He could have dug us out of this hole were in. Even if only for 3-5 years.Did we really, though?
I may be open to Barbee getting axed after this year.Ron Chizik? Hell we are still paying him, might as well make his ass useful.
Provided anyone can tell me who we can get that's better on paper.
He was as good a day one hire as we've ever gotten at Auburn. Can't make it work.
Ron Chizik? Hell we are still paying him, might as well make his ass useful.
We beat Clemson tonight 66-64.
Auburn makes it 2 in a row over the ACC with a 77-67 win over Boston College.
Where is the Final Four being played this year?
Maybe all it took to motivate Barbee was me finally jumping off his bandwagon.
So far, a pretty incredible turnaround since that post.
IF we keep winning (and history does not show that we will) and have a relatively successful SEC run, then he might have saved his job.
I personally hope he can. I like him and don't think we can do better, as sad that is.
Boston College is now 4-8...
Don't get your hopes up...
Yeah, but those four wins were against the likes of Philadelphia. They may be last in the Eastern Conference, but a win against the 76ers is nothing to sneeze at.Esp when Dr. J is hot.

Yep. Let's not take anything for granted. I'm eager to get on into the conference play and see what we have. I can't get into basketball very much right now, what with having to help with strategy for FSU and all.
So, Barbeez Boyz have two games with what should be out manned teams, Arkansas Pine Bluff and Florida A&M, before opening up conference play.

The late night film sessions are brutal.they are but I'm willing to continue doing what has helped get us to where we are now. I know that Gus appreciates me. So far, I've been able to find one key tendency with their starting QB, Winston.

I've pinpointed that he tends to throw the ball down the field, toward the opposing end zone--in hopes that one of his players will catch it and run across the goal line.
They've performed this trickery many times this season. He does not receive the snap and run like hell or hand it off to an awaiting runner like we do. It's new fangled forward pass sorcery and hopefully the NCAA will do something about this.

Well, I actually watched my first bit of Barbeez Boyz last night. 91-59 thrashing of Louisville...err, North Carolina....I mean Arizona...okay, Arkansas Pine Bluff. 7-3 on the season with one more tune up before conference play.that was not as bad as Chris Brandt guarding Shaq
This is easily the biggest team we've had since Cliff Ellis corched here. Not saying they're any good but AU can put some 7 footers on the court now. Anyone recall Lebo's first year when they didn't have one player over 6'4" on the entire roster?
Auburn beat the piss out of Florida A&M, 81-50, last night. That's it for the exhibition season. Conference play is next.
Marshall Henderson is out for tomorrow nights conference opening game against Auburn, per ESPN.
We may start conference play with a big ol' W in Oxford.
With or without Marshall Henderson....you guys are calling for an Auburn win? In conference????

51 seconds left, down 3 with the ball. Auburn comes down and starts launching 3's like there's 5 seconds on the clock. Long rebound...get it out quick...launch another 3. Was that the play you called, Tony?

We drop a close one to #21 Missouri, 70-68.
Just listening on the radio, but what the hell was that possession all about when we got the ball at about 1:15 left, down by 3? It sounded like there was no clear direction from the bench, they just came down, passed it a few times and then got it blocked on the eay to the basket. I would rather have Denson or Canada pull up for a three right off the bat.Florida went with big lineup at that point (Donovan) with the percentages in their favor knowing a drive inside would only yield one attempt. We failed miserably at the line as the game wore on.

Nice effort.
We're close to being a pretty decent team, but just can't make it over the hump. We need to recruit a couple of those 7 footers that seem to exist in abundance in the Former Republic of Yugoslavia or in the Ukraine.Would be happy with a thick, agile 6-8 240 rebounding defender for nine boards and 6 PPG.

So, is what you're really trying to say that we need a couple of tall white guys? The thicker the accent, the better. I can see it now, "The Iron Curtain" they would be called. Pure marketing genius.
Just a guess but Barbee would normally have the two players we need if he could get them like he knows he can. I think he gets more rope by shunning the troubled and avoiding sanctions.
The team all but disassembled when Lebo was sent packing.
I get that and all.....but then I see a school like Vandy with a similar handicap - academic standards for them - being successful in spite of it, and in all 3 major sports. Same with Duke before Coach Ratface showed up. I'm just tired of a handicap being an excuse for being a bottom dweller. Not asking to be elite or anything - just to have some decent seasons every now and then. At least we did that under Smith and Ellis. World beaters, no. But they weren't horrible either.Goto this site for the telling results: http://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/team-stat/shooting-defense-category (http://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/team-stat/shooting-defense-category)
I mean, are other schools that have a better roundball program really getting that many AAU recruits either? There can't be that many AAU guys at Vandy, Iowa State and Miss State. And all of those teams are better.
The win streak is up to 3! We beat USC 79-74 in Columbia.First 3-win SEC streak in 5 years.
First 3-win SEC streak in 5 years.
Or since just before Barbee was hired.
Is a B Ball gathering happening this season?
And since its a round ball, can snaggle attend?
You said roundball. Not noball.
I will be present at our next hoopball match of the Auburn Basketball Tigers vs. the University of Louisiana State University Toonces.
It will be thrilling watching us snap our win streak in spectacular fashion!
Is a B Ball gathering happening this season?I think a baseball game would be doable.
*I haven't searched for the exception to the rule or the roundball equivalent of Auburn football which often employs gimmicks and blind luck to dazzle its opponents.
The win streak was snapped in Baton Rouge, 87-80.Appears we can beat the lower end SEC teams when we play our bestest. LSU is much better than in recent past and making some noise.
Kentucky comes to town Wednesday.

Beat MSU today. Corner turned?

We should go 3-3 to finish out the regular season. I think we win at home against South Carolina, and on the road versus the updykes and Aggies.
Does that buy Barbee another year?I don't think so - or better yet, I hope not. Auburn will never be compared to Duke or Kentucky when it comes to basketball, but we shouldn't be as bad as we have been over the last few years.
The gators win 71-66. We were tied with :20 to go, missed a free throw, fouled the rebounder (who hit both free throws). We followed that up by throwing the inbounds pass out of bounds.
All in all, a good gutsy effort on the road.
It ain't horseshoes. It's not, indeed. At this point, a gutsy effort is about the best we can hope for.

I'm holding out for gusty play.
