Title: Word on da Skreets, regarding the soon to be coaching search...
Post by: The Prowler on November 02, 2012, 04:11:57 PM
A name keeps popping that a lot of fans might be happy to hear, and it's not Bobby Petrino...Chizad might not like it, though.

Sean Payton

He will be a golden god in NO once the suspension is over...shit, he's just about that status now.

My skreets indicate he will coach both Auburn and the Saints.

Although the chances Prowler's "skreetz" are as full of shit as a Canadian goose (shocker) stand at 99.989%, this offer needs to be pinned. I'm officially on the 0.011% bandwagon.

Jacobs won't be around to make the coaching decision.

Btw, I'm not saying that's the coach that'll be hired, just saying that his name is popping up, don't go full retard. Also Coach Gundy, Coach Kelly & Coach Fisher are also popping up.

If I had to bet...we'll hire someone like Willie Taggart.

I seriously doubt a man, the king of the west coast or sittin' pretty in Tallahassee are coming to Auburn. That's a no on Paul Rhoades too because he's coaching in his backyard.

my personal favorites:

1 ) Bobby Petrino is the best choice but the goody two shoes crowd had rather suffer 0-? than hire a job jumping scoundrel.
Hell they had rather have Butch Davis. Not sure how it works but it has to be in the letters of Paul to the Romans or ... a re-written biblical event to suit them.

2 ) Gary Patterson TCU age 51, 114-33 13 years-Auburn needs to at least make a run at him.

3 ) Jim Leavitt 49ers, USF age 56, 95-57 13 years-Teacher, builder, tenacious recruiter but comes with an asterisk.
Yeah this guy was Gruden's suggestion for ASU before they chose Graham.

I'm okay with Strong or Freeze but Louisville is Arky's supplier and the Reb's are finally over Tubs.  I'm sure there are those fans wanting Malzahn or even Tubs back.  I don't want someone trying to cut their teeth here or a guy that may be on the verge of losing his zest for winning. (this is a tough conf.)
And I want to avoid Air Raid-  Leach, Briles, Dykes and Holgerson (agree with JR)

others: Petersen, Whittingham, Smart

                                                  Joey Jones, Taggart

                                                                           Cutcliffe, Tedford, Pelini, Fitzgerald

Not saying it is Sean Payton but I think the Prowler is on the right track.

Judging by what I've read on the net, I believe the coaching search is shaking down like this:

There are several groups with money and each of them has their own guy. One group is wanting Jimbo. Another group wants Petrino. There is another faction that wants to interview Strong and several others. However there is one coach, whose name we don't know, that IS INTERESTED in the job and everyone would be on board with. Supposedly the said coaches name hasn't even been discussed by fans yet and his hire would stun the fanbase in a positive way. Word is we would pay this guy around 7 mil a year and that if hired he would be either be 1or 2 of the top coaches in the SEC and thats including the little one. When it comes to the wow factor, the said hire would be on the same level as when the goat fuckers hired the little one and he isn't just a pipe dream. He is supposedly the #1 candidate and the PTB are determined to make it happen.

Jeff Fisher is more realistic than either Payton or Gruden.

I agree with that. While I have no fucking clue who this mystery candidate is, supposedly sent word to Auburn that he would be interested. That right there means 1 of 2 things, the guy is sincerely interested or it someone just trying to squeeze his current team out of more money.

I'll say this though, I'm starting to feel better about Auburn's coaching search. Instead of setteling for a Willie Taggert type, I'm starting to believe we do no worse than either Petrino/Strong/Jimbo. Hopefully if it falls that far Jimbo and Strong turn the job down and Auburn has to "settle" for Petrino.  :wartim:

Coach Leavitt would get the players attention, that's for damn sure...of course he'd be choke slamming the walk-on players, Kickers, Punters and Long Snappers...but it'd definitely get the players attention.

They'd be all, ”#yolo but this mutha fucker crazy, Coach Chapped Lips just choked out the fuckin water boy and we up by 30.”

St. Louis Rams' GM Les Snead for AD and Coach Fisher for HC, and keep Coach VanGorder for DC (eventhough he doesn't know how to coach against the HUNH Spread type teams)...Then someone print up some orange & blue ”Fear The 'Staches” shirts and sell them like hot or cold cakes at A-Day.

Maybe jacobs is, but Auburn will be fine.  It might take two or three years, but we'll hire a good coach and be competitive again.  Hell, we'll be at least .500 or above next year.

Think of it this way, Chizik is the second or third worst head coach in Auburn's history and we got a bcs crystal, three bowl wins, and a Heisman out of him.

We'll be fine.

Or, the fundraising folks could add another gameday experience bid item that is advertised each week by the athletic department. You can already bid to be the kickoff tee retriever or to come out of the tunnel with the team during pregame. How cool would it be to bid on an opportunity to coach the team for a game? Think of the money we'd save. Instead of paying millions for the shit coaching job that we've seen this year, we could have a different guy each week for roughly 1 to 2 grand and could boast of having the ultimate game day experience in college football.

Even dead, Shug would run all the riff raff off and the team would show a hell of alot more spirit.  May not win, but by Gawd they would hit people.

^^^^^^Someone reads and believes too much Jay G Tate.  ^^^^^^

Guilty. Add Phillip Marshall in there as well. He said that Tate's info was legit and that the said coach reached out to Auburn. Come on man. Shitty as this season has been atleast let me have some delusion of grandeur.  :wartim:

Speaking of which..

Guess how many years of college coaching experience - head coach or assistant - Jeff Fisher has.

Zero.
He started his career as a Defensive assistant coach under Mike Ditka and the Bears, then with Buddy Ryan as a DB Coach and then becoming the youngest DC with the Eagles. DB Coach with the 49ers under Seifert. DC with the Oilers under Pardee, then HC with the Oilers then moved with the team to Tennessee. Head Coached the Oilers/Titans for 16 years took the 2011 season off. Then became the Rams HC this year.

Jeff Fisher coached teams have been referred to as aggressive, edgy, chippy and dirty.
^^This is what I want in a Auburn team^^

Worth noting that Les Snead is an Auburn Alum, too.

But I don't see it happening.

The NFL has granted the New Orleans Saints permission to negotiate a new contract with suspended coach Sean Payton, according to a report by the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Fuck...Payton just used us to up his contract with the Saints. Well I guess we will have to settle for Harbaugh.

Harbaugh was my original choice to begin with.

Btw, I'd bet money 99% (always that one dumbass) of Auburn fans would go fucking nuts, shit their pants, and throw it on the walls if Sean Payton were to be hired as HC. I would certainly bet money they would be willing to look over his recent affair that is leading to his ass getting divorced.

Was listening to SportsCall on the way home today and heard Will (the Wednesday host for Bill Cameron) say he heard a lot of different things but that that the consensus was now that Jacobs was safe and Chizik was still on the chopping block. Take that for what it's worth but it was worth mentioning.

OH HO HO HO HO HOHO HO HO HO HO OMG. Bobby Petrino is interested in the Kentucky job, which is especially fun given the anecdotes detailing Petrino's gleeful torture of the Wildcats during his time at Louisville. To wit:

Quote
This thing was heavy and I am holding it up and waiting. Paul comes in and they stand at his desk where Bobby reads the score out loud: "Louisville 28, Slapdicks nothing. I f*&$ing love it, those little smurfs didn't even score a point." They looked at me and said, "that is what winners do, kick their ass." He told me to set it down where he could look at it and as I was leaving he grabbed me and said "get used to it, we are going to kick their ass every year."

"Little smurfs."

Personally, sure. I was more referring to his misuse of puns on the air.
