Title: Tigers get commitment from nations #1 kicker
Post by: Pell City Tiger on July 01, 2012, 02:12:55 PM
He's #1, unless he's #4. Either way, welcome to Auburn, Daniel.
Quote
AUBURN, Alabama -- Auburn added another kicker to its commitment list Saturday night when Daniel Carlson said he'd be a part of the 2013 signing class.

Rivals says Carlson is the No. 4 overall combo kicker in the country. Scout says he's the No. 4 field goal kicker. A top kicking camp says he's No. 1.

He's Auburn's 14th commitment for 2013.

Rivals also said Carlson, who is 6-foot-5, 190, had offers from LSU, Air Force and California. Reporting the commitment first were AuburnUndercover.com and Inside the Auburn Tigers.

Carlson is from Classical Academy in Pike Forest, Colo., but has family ties to Birmingham.

The respected Kohl's Kicking Academy ranks Carlson the No. 1 kicker in the country. Auburn already has a commitment from No. 1 combo kicker Jimmy Hutchinson. Carlson has kicked off, kicked field goals and punted since his freshman season in high school.

You don't get to kick the ball if the long snapper doesn't do his job.

Deep snappers?  Not sure.

Kickers?  Yes.  Preferably multiple scholarships.

A great kicker equals your opponent starting at the 20 and your offense getting three points just for getting to the opponent's 35 yard line.

Touchbacks on KOs now come out to the 25.  But yeah, kickers are worth scholarships if they produce.

Remember, it's over the bar.  Not under it.

H E double hockey sticks yes to both. I say they are worth a scholly. Special Teams are often what make the difference in reaching the next level.
