Title: Furr gone?
Post by: Ogre on August 03, 2008, 08:15:09 PM
It's being reported on Scout and Rivals that Deron Furr was a no-show for practice.  Apparently CTT said in a press conference that he didn't know where he is.  The general consensus is that he's quit the team.

What the hell?

I have not seen anything official being posted.  However, if this is true then it sucks, he was very talented.

He dad has said that Furr didn't attend practice in order to study for a final exam (summer courses).  However, he could not reach Tuberville before practice.

I smell bullshit.

Before we start thinking that Furr is history, remember Robert Dunn walked off the field right before the LSU game.  He was welcomed back.

Unlike you, my girlfriends have Furr.  You get rid of yours as soon as the first weed pops up in the garden.

Ok, from everything I have read/heard this is the story.  Furr was constantly lethargic on the football field during 11 on 11 drills on Saturday.  He was constantly complaining and felt like he was owed something (as a freshman...).  The upperclassmen on the team who were working their asses off during the drill took it upon themselves to teach him a lesson.  The "lesson" got out of control and became a half brawl.  Furr was quoted in the ledger as saying that he "wanted the fast track to the NFL...that is why he switched to corner."  It appears to many people that he had a bad attitude and thought he was a world beater...others on the team weren't too fond of this attitude.  Tuberville hasn't completely written him off yet and would take him back with punishment attached of course.  (Not ice cream, this isn't Bama) Tuberville was asked yesterday after practice about Furr, and he said "It is still the same."  Meaning, they still don't know where he is or what he is doing.  Then, a reporter asked about the comments from his father and Tuberville refused to answer.

There are rumors that he wants to go to FSU...and his brother is being recruited hard by the 'Noles right now.  All we know for sure is that Furr did not practice Sunday or Monday, and is not with the team.  Take this as you will.

If true, then fuck him.

You have to earn respect, playing time and a shot at the league.

Fuck him in da mouf until he gets himself unfucked.

That is sort of what I was thinking...except I always believe in second chances...He has to prove himself though.

With what he would have to do to earn a second chance I imagine some humility would be learned as well.

Yeah, it seems the phrase "bad apple" is being thrown around a lot.  I don't know if I would consider him "bad" right now, just needs to get his head on straight.

This is true.  If it weren't for second chances, Pat Sims would not have been there last year.  As long as his attitude gets straight, I would welcome him back.  Otherwise, go to bammer or F$U and get treated like a rock star before getting shut out of the draft in 4 years.

Various message boards are mentioning that he's planning to transfer to F$U.  I hope this isn't true, but if it is, how would he be received down there?  How much respect do you have for a guy who got his ass kicked at practice and took his ball and went home?

I hope he stays at Auburn and becomes the next turnaround story under Tubs.  However, I am glad to see that our players aren't going to put up with any prima donna bullshit from a frosh.

It also doesn't make sense to go to FSU because he's not going to play QB.  He's going to be competing for a spot in the secondary, and considering how many athletes FSU pulls in each year, it won't be the same opportunity he has now.  He could have worked into the rotation THIS year.  Now, he'll lose a year.  Either by suspension from Tubs or sitting out a year due to transferring.

i'm glad to see so leadership amongst other players on the defense.  obviously furr was just a selfish player, in it for just him and not the team.  hate that he couldn't turn the attitude around and be a contributor to the defense.  but sometimes you gotta lose dead weight.  and furr choosing to quit is part of seperating men from boys and team players from selfish players

Goog ole' fashioned class and character. Gang beat a 17 year old kid on the field and then talk shit about him being a ''selfish player'', ''dead weight''. Yea what a piece of shit he was
As if tubs needs anything negative in recruiting. Wonder what kind of questions parents will be asking him about.

Lets see, ''If  my son doesn't have a good day on the practice field, will your character guys show him the way? Oh yea, our son could use strong character people around him to teach him and maybe a beat down once in a while, ....where do we sign. :vn:

Like it or not,It wasn't a good thing.

Cause that's what happened. He was "gang beaten". I heard they made him bite the curb and everything.

Also, he is completely innocent, but those thug barners just felt like singling him out at random. Never mouthed off about being on the "fast track to the NFL", wasn't lethargic on the football field and then act like he was owed something.

Oh, and most of all scuffles NEVER break out during August practices.  :taunt:

First of all: You are an idiot.

Second: At Auburn you are not owed SHIT because of how many stars you have coming out of high school. You earn your respect at Auburn and that's by playing as a team player and working your ass off. Tuberville has stated time and time again that he recruits the type of players that fit into the Auburn "TEAM" philosophy. Not only just good players with a lot of stars. That is the difference between Tuberville and other coaches...he actually practices what he preaches and doesn't feed players and recruits a bunch of bullshit.

Third: This is why Auburn doesn't have a bunch of trouble makers on the team with 45 arrests over the last couple of years. The players govern themselves without Tuberville having to start some bullshit "player review board". The TEAM knows what it takes to win and if they see another team mate screwing up...they take matters into their own hands and handle it before Tubs ever has too.

Fourth: You are an idiot.

Yea ,ok whatever man. Good to see that auburn ''team philosophy'' taking over on the practice field. ( Piling up on a 17 year old) Good moral fiber and high character,, yup.

Maybe the other fight that broke out and sent a player out on an air cast was the other high character guy?
Who the fuck knows?

Lastly, you're an auburn fan so you calling me an idiot doesn't sound so bad coming from the like of you.

Call it what you want...but I would rather the team take care of cocky ass freshman that comes in and think they are owed something than letting the bad apple stay and plant a bad seed within the team and divide the team.

And you keep saying that the team "piled up on a 17 year old". How do you know this? Were you there? Did you talk to someone that was there? Or did you just take whatever you fucking wanted it to mean and post out of your ass?
Title: Re: Furr gone?

Piling up?

You know not of which you speak. Etheridge shoved Furr to the ground, and other players crowded around him yelling at him hoping to light a fire under his ass.

This is an Auburn "team philosophy"? No one gets in fights in August practice but those daggum barners. I guess it's easy to throw stones when no one can know anything that goes on at bammer practices since they're closed to the public.

I just used the auburn method of coming to a conclusion, read what's in the media, truth be damned, check a few message boards, rumors be damned, and start making fun of the situation.

I've learned from the best, my hats off to a huge chunck of the auburn fan base.

Between fred and BLS, El Guapo looks level-headed and rational.

2/3 of our bamer residents are a complete stereotypical joke that don't warrant being dignified with a response.
