Title: Time to Shake the Curse
Post by: wesfau2 on February 09, 2024, 12:34:29 PM
We need a win in G'ville.  It's been since 1996.  Fuck.

UF has been largely unsuccessful against ranked teams (less and except a weird beat down of the 'cats) and on the road (less and except a weird beat down of the 'cats and a road dub against Mizzou) they stink on ice.

Their home losses are: UVA, Baylor and UKen...so, no inexplicable losses on their own court.

Hopefully the emotional hangover of the Bama game doesn't leave our guys unable to rise up.  This won't be an easy one.

ETA: That date when we last won in Gainesville?  Saturday, February 10, 1996.

Auburn leads the all-time series against Gusty Gaytah, 86-80.  It wouldn't be that close if we weren't so God awful shitty for so long.  From 2001 to 2018, Florida was 21-1 against the War Eagles.

We were bad during that stretch, but UF won two nattys.

I'm superstitious for the most part and seldom gloat over a win in beatdown fashion. My first impression is that when you go to Gainesville the  lighting on the court is poor. Maybe they practice in the dark. Just an observation.

I walked away from the television down by 17 thinking if we are to go deep in March we have to have comeback victories if we are to have any hope of advancing against teams that have been tested. Most of our games have been blowouts.
As of right now we suck on the road and
every tournament game is away from Neville Arena.

That's it.

The only consolation I have is that tournament games aren’t road games in the truest sense.  Neutral site.  Different vibe.

This team can win in the road.  What it hasn’t learned yet is how to recover from getting punched in the dick.  State and Bama were close at the end.  That yesterday was not.

Well, that sucked ass.

No combination could get any scoring going.

Such is life.
