Has anyone heard the greatest story in the history of college football, hell, maybe in all of sports? Of course, I'm speaking of Stetson Bennett, Jr. XXVIVX.
The guy was a walk on. Don't you people understand that? Is that not registering with you? He was a WALK ON!!!!
Since the beginning of time, no walk on in any sport has ever had even the slightest modicum of success. Until Stetson Bennett, Sr. VIIXXY.
And do you know what else? Get ready. Brace yourselves. Okay, here goes.....Everyone said he couldn't do it. EVEN HIS OWN COACHES!!!!
No, seriously. Everyone. Crazy, isn't it?
How could anyone overcome such incredible odds? You know, being a walk on. And everyone, including your coaches, saying you can't do it.
I hope Amazon quickly delivers my Stetson Bennett, III, Jr. XVIXX 13 jersey. I may never take it off.
A walk on. Wow!!!!
-
I just can't get over it.

I walked on here as a poor young black kid with nothing to my name but a pack of magnum rubbers and a broken down Ford Ranger.
But Godfather saw fit to give me a chance and a scholarship. He preyed among the most vulnerable in society. I will forever hate his guts.

I remember when Vince Dooley told Stetson Bennet XIVLLIVILX that he would never do any more than hand the ball off to Herschel. Wow, he sure proved him wrong.

Yeah, but initially, Dooley told him he couldn't do it.

I’ve have used his cologne since first came out in 80s.
I mean when cologne came out. To be clear.

Hell, they even named a restaurant after him...

I'm just impressed that for once in my lifetime some kid was actually told he would never amount to shit and actually beat incredible odds rather that the stupid shit higher ranked kid's feel compelled to say about nobody believing in them.

I know how it feels to be told at a young age that you will never amount to shit. And then, I know how it feels to prove all of those people who said it, right.
It reminds me of what my grandaddy used to say.

I was a 3 sport athlete in HS. Some would use the term “star” but I prefer to simply say athlete. I don’t want to make a fuss about it or make sure I mention it every other post like CCTE does about being a jock washer at Auburn back in the day.
The only reason that I even bring up the fact that I was an elite athlete and lettered in football, basketball and golf (3 sports for those who are counting) is to mention that incredibly, I was overlooked led by every major D1 program in the country.
I was overlooked by every minor D1 program, too. And every DII, DIII and club football.
Crazy, huh?

A legend in his own mind, and probably in Vladimir’s mind, too.

While we're on the subject, were you aware that David Greene and David Pollack played Pop Warner football together? True story.

Are you saying the 284 times that Chris Fowler, Dirk Turdskreet, Holly Rowe and Molly McGrath told us was not enough?
-
I read an interesting and hidden fact today, regarding UGA football. A lot of people are not aware but their quarterback was a walk on.
Hell, we have a walk on and ours is better than there’s. He’s bonafide.

Where is the that “one mo damn time” meme when you need it!
