Title: Game Weekend Rentals
Post by: wesfau2 on June 28, 2010, 12:32:42 PM
Anyone know of apts/condos/houses for rent on game weekends in Auburn?

I'd like something within walking distance, of course.

I find it best to go to your brother's place and leave a loaf in the trash can.

Fact. That's what I'm going to be doing next year.

I figure why mess with tradition?

Amen.  Just let it be known.  Arkansas State game, there will be a loaf laid promptly in his trash can.

Yeah, I googlemotherfuckered and got those same results.

The house is rented out for the LSU game (the one I'm trying to nail down).
The second link has bupkus.

Allow me to float an idea...

Anyone interested in a modified time-share?  We can form a simple LLC and rent a small apartment near campus.   Organize a calendar and...voila...game-weekend accommodations.

Shouldn't be more than $300/month with a couple of members.  More members=less cost/fewer weekends available.

And give up the Travel Lodge?

Hells to the no.

It's the access to crack whores and the Waffle House that make the Travel Lodge special.

This is perfect. Buy a cheap generator and you can be sleeping in the A/C while parking just about anywhere your boys can push it.

Did you know there is now a new Waffle House down on Glenn near the intersection of College Street? This is of awesomeness. There was some sort of breakfast/donut place there in the same spot when I was living in Auburn in the mid/late 90's but never actually went there.

Daylight Donuts?

Yep. That's where it is. I saw it when I was down there a few weeks back for football camp. It will never beat Tiger Time the first year it opened. Supper club, then tiger time. Yum. Yum.

Daylight Donuts?

Yeah....now there is one of them way out on S. College. But that Waffle House being at N. College/Glenn is great.

You old farts, we didn't have tiger time when I was there.

We always hit up Waffle House or Momma G's.

I remember the day it opened. Hell, I remember the day the old Strutting Duck opened. We are not old, we are historically informed.

Daylight Donuts didn't stay open for too long.  Everyone at Tiger Time always played the you don't have to call me darlin on the juke box everytime I was there and it sounded like a Karaoke bar in the wee hours of the morning.

There is no more SD downtown. The sign is still up, but ownership changed. When I went there in June to take my son to football camp, I dropped in and the bartender told me. Not sure about the original.

It merged with the Old Auburn Ale House, which was no longer brews their own beer anymore. It was one of only 3 microbrews in the state where you could buy the beer onsite.

I was saddened that it was taken over by the Brokeback Mountain bar I always hated in college, and on top of that, stripped of its delicious fresh brewed beer.

TigerSuites has 2 Bedroom Units that they rent for gameday weekends. There is a 3 night minimum at $280 a night though. So you are looking at $900 for the weekend if you want to go that route.

Holy shit that place was awful.  The "band" sucked, their fans sucked, the service sucked.
