Auburn got beat by Troy....at home...

Lebo needs to go...NOW...

uburn's shot just 39.2 percent from the field, making 8-of-31 from 3-point range, as Troy held on for an 81-77 win over the Tigers Friday night at Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum.

The loss dropped Auburn to 4-4 on the season.

"This is unacceptable, unacceptable," senior forward Lucas Hargrove said. "I take full responsibility for this loss as a senior and a leader. We've got no excuses.

Todd Van Emst
Reed scored 18 points but had 4 turnovers and shot 0-of-3 from 3-point range.
"I don't think they have a better team than us but they were better tonight."

The Tigers took 20 more shots than Troy but the Trojans made 29-of-54 (53.7%) while AU made 29-of-74.

"They shot the snot right out of it and we really couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. That was basically the difference in the game," AU head coach Jeff Lebo said.

Auburn trailed for most of the second half before a layup by Brendon Knox put the Tigers up 74-73 with 1:46 remaining, capping a 9-2 run. Troy answered with seven straight points including back-to-back layups by Michael Vogler and Brandon Hazzard to put the game away.

Lebo said AU's emphasis coming into the game was stopping Hazzard but the senior had a game-high 28 points, making 7-of-10 3-pointers.

"We did a very, very poor job at every spot recognizing what he does," Lebo said. "…We let him just come in here knowing what he was going to do and just let him do it. That was the biggest disappointment, I think, in the game."

Troy went into halftime with a 40-38 lead but broke out to a quick 53-46 lead and led by seven with 6:36 remaining.

Senior point guard DeWayne Reed led Auburn with 18 points and seven assists. Frankie Sullivan had 16 while Hargrove and Tay Waller added 12 apiece.

Vogler scored 14 points and had nine assists for the Trojans. Richard Delk added 12 points while Antywan Jones had 11, making 3-of-4 from beyond the arc.

Auburn sophomore Kenny Gabriel returned to play three minutes after missing the previous five games following hernia surgery.

Auburn returns to action Monday against Virginia. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CT at Beard-Eaves and the game will be televised by CSS.

This was evident years ago.

What's Lebo's new excuse?  Injuries?  Recruiting?  Lack of fan support?  Academics?  New Arena?

I didn't think the time was right two years ago, but he sure as shit had better be gone after this year at this rate.

He's got to make it to the big dance (which looks incredibly unlikely at this point), or gtfo.

I'm not so sure Auburn could have realistically gotten anyone much better than Lebo 2 years ago.  Now, with the new arena, they should be able to attract a quality coach IMO.
