Title: Coach Muschamp
Post by: ssgaufan on January 03, 2008, 05:31:40 PM
Is being interviewed for the Texas DC opening.  This shit is really starting to piss me off.  Why the Hell is Auburn just a fucking stepping stone.  I understand moving to a Head Coach position, but a coordinator spot, what the hell?  Did I miss something, are we in Conference USA or some shit?

If he decides to go the route of Chizik then  :fu: him.

Just my thoughts on this shit.

Yeah, I don't know what to make of this.  If he leaves I'll be pissed, because I would have wanted John Tenuta to replace him.  Now that he's gone to LSU, I am not sure what other top-tier DC's are still out there.  What's Joe Kines doing these days?  <----(that was a joke for those of you who are humor-impaired)

I hope to the Good Lord that CWM decides to stay.

He might as well stay because if he does go, I'm going to Texas and shitting on his windshield.  Mack Brown's, too.

Make sure you swing by every Taco Bell between here and Austin.  Load up on Cheesy Gordita Crunches (they're back!) and Grilled Stuft Burritos.

More Finebaum BS.
He's not going anywhere.
A guy doesn't just turn down the HC job at Southern Miss a month ago, say "Anyone out there that wants to be a winner needs to become an Auburn Tiger" two days ago, then bolts on us tomorrow.

It's being reported by rivals that an offer and decision will be made in the next 24 hours. I will be fucking pissed if he leaves. I was OK with the Tony Franklin hire because even if the spread offense bombs, we should still win some games with our bad ass D. If Muschamp leaves, we will be reworking not only the offense but the defense...and that's not a good thing...

Muschamp and TT like each other...it was well known that Chizik did not like Tubs and the fact that he didn't back him for head coaching positions like he wanted. Muschamp doesn't go anywhere, lateral move at best. Muschamp could have gone to a lot of places after the Dolphins he chose Auburn, remember that.

Word I've heard is that they may be looking to offer Muschamp a similar deal to what Fisher received at FSU, which would pay him handsomely and make him the front-runner for the job once Brown retires.  He's expected to take the offer.

Also, it should be noted that Muschamp's agent is......Jimmy Sexton.

It's a done deal according to news reports out of Austin and orangebloods.com (Texas' Rivals site).

Bye-bye, Muschamp.  You can Boom Motherfucker your ass all the way to Texas.

Yeah this is bullshit.  Fuck this.  We aren't a step ladder.  They lose SEVEN defensive starters.  We return just about everybody on defense.  We could compete for an NC if our offense clicks.  I have no doubt that our defense is going to be good enough to carry us to the SECCG.

They've been playing the 4-3 defense.  This won't be a quick fix for Muschamp.  It took two years to finally get the 3-4 defense working.  And now he's going to abandon it?  Maybe Saban influenced Muschamp a little too much over the years.

If Muschamp thinks he's going to wait out Mack Brown, I think he's full of shit.  Mack Brown is 56 years old.  Unless he just got word from a prophet that he's going to die at age 60, Muschamp is going to be waiting a long long time to become a head coach.

My thoughts exactly.
I'll admit I'm more weary about this than Arkansas, for the sole reason alone that he actually did interview.
Other than that it baffles the mind why he'd leave us for DC job at Texas when he could have already had a HC job. And he seems as committed to us as a coach gets nowadays.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Well either way, if its one thing I don't worry about under Tubs is his defense. We will get someone in there deserving not to worry. Does really suck though...I am highly disappointed tonight.

Someone with a large one needs to strap on a Trojan and give Muffchump a going away present.  This is bullshit from beginning to end.  I do NOT wish him well and I hope Texas loses 9 games and has the NCAA crawling up their collective asses.

If this is indeed true.

Fuck him!  I once hated on Texas just in support of our Arkansas brothers and sisters.  It's not like that now.    I could handle it if he went as a head coach somewhere but I just don't understand this.  I'm with Kaos on this one.  I'll catch the back windshield while you get the front.

I talked to a buddy of mine that is really good friends with Muschamps agent (who is definitely not Sexton by the way) and he said that Muschamp was talking with Texas even before the Peach Bowl. It sounds like to me Muschamp is tired of the "We are going to have a good defense as long as I am here. This is my defensive philosophy and I will hire someone that fits into it." talk that you sometimes hear from TT. That may be where some of this is coming from...

But then again, I am also convinced that TT was WAY closer to taking the Arkansas job than a lot of people out there so take it for what it's worth.

Still no word on Muschamp's plans

Will Muschamp's Auburn future remains uncertain.

Muschamp, Auburn's defensive coordinator, interviewed Thursday for a similar position at Texas. Muschamp was still in Austin this morning, and Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville said this morning he has not talked to Muschamp since the interview.

What does it mean? It's really impossible to say. Most of the time, when a high-profile coordinator like Muschamp goes to interview at another school, he takes the job. But there are also ample examples of times when it didn't happen that way.

It would be surprising if something isn't known before the end of the day.

Should Muschamp decide to go to Texas, which would still seem to be the probable outcome of all this, Auburn will have a new defensive coordinator in a matter of days. Stay tuned.

If that picture was from 20 years ago when they sang that song, and the video was actually shot in the present showcasing how they look now, by method involving a flux capacitor, I'd believe it.

I wanted to clarify something that I stated earlier in this thread. I have been reading that Sexton was Muschamps agent and it made me wonder what happened to my good friends buddy that was representing him. It is my understanding that CWM fired Mark, his old agent, after he got passed over for both the Tech jobs and the Arkansas job and hired Sexton to work as his "employment" agent still retaining Mark to do endorsements. This makes sense because of the "contract disagreement" that was "discovered" about the time thhat Sexton was brought on. I personally think that Sexton has been wanting to screw Auburn so when he got CWM as a client, he looked for anything in his contract that he could dispute.

It sounds like CWM wanted out of Auburn for some reason, and he got his wish....I have my thoughts on why he wanted out but they are just opinions.

The reasons do sound like complete bullshit to me, and honestly it makes Muschamp look like an ass. Seriously how could there be a miscommunication that big. Either we said fuck you were not changing your contract or we said Will, baby, bubalah, we can work it out. He sounds like a spoiled brat that gets mad, takes his ball and goes home.

The thing that is curious to me is that Tubs didn't really seem like he gave a rats ass that Muschamp left, leads me to think there had to be something else behind the scenes. I do like Tubs confidence and ability in his defense he will find another good coach.
Title: Re: Coach Muschamp
Post by: War Eagle!!! on January 07, 2008, 11:39:17 AM
I think that Muschamp started resenting the fact that he works under a "defensive" coach like Tuberville and wasn't getting credit for his work on the defensive side of the ball. Tubby always takes credit for the defense doing well (deserved or not I have no idea, but Auburn HAS ALWAYS had a good defense under Tubs) and I think Muschamp thinks that may have played a part in him getting some HC jobs he wanted or a solid look from another HC position.

Add to that tubbs got pissed when WM turned down S Miss and accepted AU's counter...then interviewed with Tech and Ark....that is when it started going downhill between the two of them.

Take it for what it is worth though!!!

He has been working with him from the beginning and didn't have the decency to call. He also said that Muschamp let Tubby know he was talkking the UT job through voice mail.

It sounds like this was a snake in the grass type of guy. It really dissappoints me because I wouldn't have thought Muschamp was like that.

Agreed.

I think Muschamp goes a million miles an hour at all times.  I remember seeing him in the athletic department, and he always had kind of a goofy walk.  He looked like he was focused on murdering his shoes with his eye balls.  He always stepped hard like he was trying to puncture a hole into the floor.  Head down, hard steps, always determined to win the next play.  God, I loved that guy as our defensive coach.  Fuck him.
