Title: What's The Deal?
Post by: AUTailgatingRules on October 01, 2008, 01:00:57 PM
We are 4-1
The following teams have also choked a game:  USC, UGA, UF  (I don't think we choked the LSU game)
We are ranked 13th in the nation

WHY IS THIS PLACE SO DEAD and down on the team?

Look I know that our offense sucked the first 5 games and everyone hates Franklin, but good god this is not the end of the world.  With our defense and a little more production from the offense we can easily pull out a great year.  We are not out of the SEC west race, and if you thought we would win the MNC this year you were crazy.

Let's get our heads out of the sand and start getting this board moving

You know what is strange about this?  I have noticed the exact same deadness on almost every other board I am on.  not just here.  I don't know what has everything so stagnated.

By getting so down on our team and infighting about the offense we are giving the mullets exactly what they have been hoping for for the last 6 years.  I still believe that we have a chance to have a better season than UA.  They have a pretty tough schedule coming up in the second half

I agree whole heartedly.  I been pretty busy as well and really have not been as amped about football this Fall as I normally am.  Just trying to juggle all this fucking "Kinda-Care" I am responsible for here at work.

That's what has everyone worried.  We're seeing no improvement.

The sooner Franklin gets his head out of his ass in regards to the health of Todd's shoulder, the sooner we will see offensive improvement.  I think maybe he finally saw that on Saturday, but who knows...

I am just overwhelmed at work too - I am lacking in fire and enthusiasm, but not because I am down on the team.  I don't have a lot of fire and enthusiasm for anything right now...  Yes, I am unhappy with our lack of offense, but i will never feel second to bammer under any circumstances.  They suck monkey goat nuts.

Auburn kicks ass even when we don't...  we are Auburn, dammit.  'Nuff said.

I remember Cox throwing 4 int's vs GT in his first game and he ended up being one of the winningest QB's we ever had.  At least Todd isn't throwing to the othr team that much

I agree and have made the comment that we're 4-1 but I feel like it's 1-4.  The reason is that we were all coming off the Peach Bowl high, new offense, preseason hype and ready to unleash the beast in an opening game laugher.  Hard to complain about a 34-0 shutout but everyone went, "Uh-oohh, that didn't look real good".

We all thought it would steadily improve but since that time, Auburn has literally embarrased itself in front of a national audience with a 3-2 egg and whatever the hell that was Saturday against UT.  The biggest problem is that 5 games in, it's gotten worse.  I truly think everyone is "Stagnant" because despite a 4-1 record, we're all half expecting some bad shit down the pike.  Terribly negative attitude but this team has shown that to this point, they simply cannot score.

I truly think that fans need to see ONE breakout performance, hopefully this weekend.  One performance that says no matter what happens the rest of the way, there's hope.  We want to actually see that this team is capable of clicking on all cylinders.  Give us that one game this weekend and this board and fans in general will pick it up big time.

If all this team hears from fans, media, message boards, etc is that they suck monkey nuts it is going to be pretty hard to get that out of your head.  I know that these boards don't mean shit in the overall scheme of things, but the fans aint helping things.

If all they hear from dumbass coaches who look like panhandlers is that they're too stupid, slow and uncoordinated to run his magnificent "system" that 140-lb high school nerds operate with efficiency, it's going to be pretty hard to get that out of their heads.

Hell with all of this.  I WILL NOT go and cheer for ineptitude when I am cognizant of the fact that the players are capable of so much more.

What we need is tackling fuel.

Tackling fuel doesn't seem to be a problem.  Maybe some "throw the ball farther than 5 yards" fuel.

I think that a lot of people have a quiet confidence that the defense allows us to hold onto, but the offense has been so inconsistent, and seems to ignore what works so much, that it leaves kind of an empty confused, not sure what to say feeling.

I'd love to be high on the soapbox right now, and be defending like I was at the beginning of this season, but there seems to be some genuine dysfunction in effect here, and I hope it gets going soon.

I do appreciate and hold onto the fact that even with us struggling, we're winning ballgames, despite one loss to a very good LSU team.   My confidence level for the remainder on the season are still higher than average.

Screw Bama, it's not even halfway through yet.   We've seen this song and dance too many times recently from the Crapstone.  Let them chortle, chuckle and beat their chests right now.   I personally don't give a damn.  It's still just funny to me until they've fucking earned different.

It's Kinder-Care.

And we will be fine. Like somebody already said, we are this bad and still winning. Just wait till the offense actually works.

Is your spread dead?  I saw on another board where Ears was quoted as saying he was scrapping the spread and going back to the old offense.  ESPN was named as the source, but I couldn't find anything on it.  Anyone heard this rumor??  Any truth to it??

It's not that I am down on the team, just our OC and his play calling.  I am very high on our defense right now, we are one of the best if not the best defensive team in college football at the moment in my opinion.  We had a couple of let downs in the LSU game but we are playing dang good D right now.

I have wanted to get on here a little more often, but I haven't had a chance to sit down at my desk much as we are extremely busy at work and we have been pretty busy at the house.  Night time is the only time I have had to post much here lately.

You'd better get that offense going.  Don't come back here with 325 yards and 1 offensive TD.

Been busy as all hell...not even gonna bore folks with the details.

As far as the offense is concerned, I'm not going to throw Todd under the bus because (1) that's just not my style, especially with players and (2) it doesn't take a QB with a rocket arm or even be fleet of foot to run a spread offense.

I think back to Oklahoma when Stoops was first hired...his first offensive coordinator was Mike Leach and their QB was a spaghetti-armed slow guy named Josh Heupel.  Year 1 was shaky (7-5) because they were digging out from under the mess John Blake and Howard Schnellenberger left behind, year 2 they go 13-0.  Heupel was no run threat at all...he was very accurate, he had a decent college RB in year 2 and his receivers made plays.  Most importantly, his OL protected well and let him do his thing.

Our offensive issues are unit-wide...there's not a single position that can say they're doing their job at a high level.  The OL has struggled much more than I thought they would and that will cause an offense to spiral downward in a hurry.  Combine that with fumble-itis from the backfield and a QB that is getting his first real taste of major college football (and that would be the case no matter who was starting) and you get 8 offensive pts/game in SEC play.

I hope it gets better, but I am not holding my breath.

I do believe that if our guys take care of the ball tomorrow, they'll beat Vanderbilt.
