Title: Coming Down The Stretch
Post by: Snaggletiger on January 24, 2017, 03:57:45 PM
Depending on which site you look at, AU has either 19 or 20 commits with about 7 of those already enrolled.  So with 5-6 spots remaining, what are the biggest needs?  Skreetz, what are you hearing?  We have 3 big O-Line commits, 3 nasty LB's and 3 DB's.  With the addition of Stidham, I'm actually good with where we are at QB, that is, if Lindsey really knows how to corch em' up.  Having Stidham, White, Barrett and even Clifford Franklin as the ultimate fall back makes me feel good about the position.

Wide Receiver is also of no concern given the numbers and young talent we have there.  However, only one D-Lineman and one true running back doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies.  I said that 2 years ago and it almost bit us in the tukus.  We were one more injury away from playing out the season with 127 pound, Kam Martin.  Plus, the one RB we have committed is taking a couple more visits.

Now granted, Alaric Williams is listed as an athlete, but I believe RB was his primary position and he looks to be a stud.  But, I'd still like more numbers.  And, despite racking up on D-Linemen last year, signing one in this class is not a good idea.

Long snapper?

What are you guys hearing?  Any must-get targets remaining out there?  Anyone we're looking at flipping?  I'll hang up and lissen'.

DE *** Markaviest Bryant
LB **** Tyler Taylor
TE/Long Snapper *** John Shenker
OL *** Matthew Tanner

Those are my final prospects to commit to Auburn.

There are several silent commitments that I'm not at liberty to discuss. These are 3 and 4 star players. Please keep this on the down low.

I'm just excited to see what might be the recognition of the position some call tight end.

Maybe, at long last, we actually incorporate that missing piece into the Chip Wagon.

My update did tell me the reason he is going to probably sign with Auburn is because we only offered him a scholarship yesterday.  Over Georgia St, UAB and Miss St.  But we do agree I think he is a hoss.

A little blurbitty blurb on the dot  I am a gay twerker that has no balls!!!!  I also have no idea how to use the quote function to post stories, so I annoy the piss out of others.  I like male genatalia in and around my mouth. from Mountain Man, Matthew Tanner, that you guys were mentioning earlier.

"Right now Auburn's my leader by far," said the offensive guard from Jacksonville, Fla., who played at Eastern Arizona College last fall. "I'm not going to announce a commitment, but it's about a 99 percent chance I'll be at Auburn. (My decision) will be made Sunday after my visit or at the latest Monday. I want to see everything, take the visit and get a feel for things."

Would he be the biggest O-lineman we've ever signed?  We've had taller in Marcus McNeil and King Dunlap.  But 6'7" 345?  Jimminy Christmas that's a large youngun'.

King Dunlap is the worst. Dude sucked ass at Auburn wasting all kinds of talent, and I am about 90% sure I saw him on an NFL roster this year...

I was very surprised to see him on an NFLL roster. He started out in Philly. Then moved to the Chargers(wherever).

I have seen quite a few guys from AU that looked average at best at AU and then had successful NFL careers.

If I am not mistaken, Bynes is still in the NFL. Not that he was bad at AU. I just thought he was a step slow. But he was a very smart LB. Always in the right place.

Lost Ryan Johnson to Stanford.  Now, this is a whole lot of meh to me.  I saw him play this year.  He's a physical specimen, no doubt.  I'm not sure he made a tackle all night.  Definitely was a complete non-factor in the game and I went specifically to watch him.

This is the least excited I've been about signing day in quite some time.  I love the guys we have verbals from and those that have already enrolled.  But, it's like we've been stagnant, seemingly for a couple of months, and I haven't read of anyone else who is likely to sign.  We didn't sign our full allotment last year and unless there's 5-6 surprise names tomorrow, we won't again this year.

Somebody pump some sunshine up my rectum.  I'm ready and willing.

Just saw an article (didn't bother reading, which may prove the article's thesis) entitled: "NSD is Dead."

The blurb mentioned how it doesn't matter with some kids locking down early and some prima donnas dragging it out past NSD.

The cheating at Bama that ole miss tried to copy that's now morphed to Georgia has pretty much drained the fun out of it for me.  Add that to the steady stream of negativity toward us and the perpetual bama knob slobbing pushed on us by the state media..... I find it hard to care.

Watched his film the other day...he's a monster, no doubt. But, he was going against guys almost half his size. I didn't see him going against another big guy throughout the entire highlight and I started to wonder if there was a reason. He might've been another Leon Hart, but with less accolades.

I'm right there with y'all. This recruiting cycle has been blah and until Auburn starts putting more money towards the prospects, it's probably going to continue. But with the inbred bama media, that likely will never ever happen. They'll make sure of it, because they're usually out on the recruiting trail doing their part for bama.

What gets lost is the opportunity to fleece an extra recruit or two from UGA if not for that inexplicable loss.
That truly matters and now we have to deal with Smart after gifting him one. That's why that loss stays with me.

Nico Collins. Clay-Chalkville kid. No surprise really. He had been wearing Michigan gear and his girlie friend is going there also. Plus, TJ Simmons is already at bama who came from CC last year and I'm betting Nico wanted to be elsewhere and be his own.

Speaking of Eufaula, I had my first meal at Riverside Grill this past Saturday night.  Little pricey.  Great food.  2 hours from sit down to check.  Only reason we didn't get pissed is because we were meeting some friends we hadn't seen in months and didn't mind some catching up time.  Wouldn't mind going back if I knew I could eat within an hour.

I believe that is on Broad Street? There was a sports bar type place right next to it and a Cajun joint right down from there. All three took forever and a day to get some cookn done. They have their own clock management there.

I'll be the first to admit that the food was first rate.  They have a Grouper Royale, stuffed with crab and shrimp.  I got Lemon Caper Flounder, which was a damn fine dish.  Not anything like what you'd expect in Eufaula and there's only one restaurant in Dothan that serves up vittles like that.

The waitress, kept saying our food would be right out.  She finally came by and said, "I'm sorry about the wait.  The kitchen is backed up because of the tables".

Because of the tables?  Which tables?  All the empty ones in this room?

I would assume that was the exception and not the rule.  I would consider giving it another try.  Even the smoked tuna dip appetizer was the best I've ever had.

Because of the tables?  Which tables?  All the empty ones in this room?

I would assume that was the exception and not the rule.  I would consider giving it another try.  Even the smoked tuna dip appetizer was the best I've ever had.

Def some good food. You should try the Cajun Corner if you haven't already. Like I said, lots of folks including Chefs in Eufaula have hourly treatments for their cataracts.

I've seen that place 100 times and just never thought about stopping.  I'll have to give it a shot.

I won't be able to get my son to go there.  I turned him on to Big H chicken this season on the way to Auburn and he's obsessed.  Gotta' admit, that's some damn good bird.
