Title: 2014 Beesabol Tigers
Post by: Snaggletiger on January 31, 2014, 01:19:34 PM
Season starts up on February 14 with a tourney down in Port Charlotte, Fla.  Don't know where Port Charlotte is but I'm betting it'll be warmer there than here. Sunny Galloway is the new head man and with his reputation and career, there shouldn't be any excuses for not putting this program back on the national map.  Crappiest pre-conference schedule I've seen in a long time.  Biggest names are Ohio State and California.  I honestly have no clue as to whether or not either of those have jack squat for baseball programs.  But, it's like those two and Kennesaw State and umm...well...anyway....then we start SEC play.

We had two errors, a passed ball, and five hits all game.  On the flip side, they had zero errors, nine hits (with a triple and a double) and drew 4 walks.  Sounds like out pitching fell apart.  Wait a minute, is Galloway auditioning for the Orioles job when Buck gets fired?

Baseball is a funny game and anything can happen. But even on a bad day, a division one school should not be losing to ASU.

I agree with that last part and the Braves should never lose to the Cubs, but they do sometimes.  It happens.  All it takes is your pitching staff to be on fire and their isn't much the other team can do about.  Especially if you make mistakes like we did.

Yep. We're down 5-0 to Cal in tonight's game, with 2 outs in the 9th.

We've only 4 extra base hits so far this season, I think.

Sonny is pissed at some of the guys slacker attitudes. In his postgame interview after last night's game, he called a couple out and said changes are happening.

Sounds like some of the problem children are going to watch a lot of games from the bench.

Alright , you doughnut punchers. Conference play started tonight. It's time to get this thread going again.

We took the opening game of the series, 4-0, over the Aggies. The victory runs our win streak to 6 straight since dropping the Capital City Classic a week and a half ago.

Sunday's game has been pushed ahead to Saturday due to the forecast of inclement weather. We'll play a double header tomorrow, with game 1 starting at noon.

And 17-7 overall.

After the slow start where we struggled to a 6-6 record, the team has caught fire I think Coach Golloway trimming those 3 pieces of dead weight off the roster got their attention.

I forget that we are about where I expected us to be, but damn if it isn't frustrating after watching us earlier this season win 14 out of 17.  We need to sweep bammer and get ourselves over .500 ball in the SEC.  We do that and play slightly above .500 ball for the rest of the season and no reason we shouldn't make a regional.

I'm sure everyone knows this by now, but we lost the series on a gut-crunching 9th inning error and then of course couldn't score in the bottom of the ninth to lose the final game 4-3.

We're currently losing to Samford 6-0. Golloway's choker collar is tightening...

Just an update as the Tiggerz wind down the season. They're sitting at 25-20 overall and 9-12 in the SEC.  While they're last in the SEC West, they're within a game of 2 others in the division.  They have three SEC series left with Miss. State, Kentucky and LSU.  Barring a collapse, they should be in good shape to make the SEC tourney with the top 12 teams going.  Right now, the bottom teams are:

AU  9-12
UK  9-12
UT  8-13
Mizzou  7-13
UGA  6-15
