Let's just be honest, a lot (not all) of the PL's don't REALLY want Petrino. They just got tired of people thumping the Creed. #auburn
Besides ignoring a career of scumbaggery, the PL's are also assuming post-scandal Petrino will be the same winner as pre-scandal Petrino.
Tiger Woods was the best golfer in the world, had affairs, got caught, and now can barely win anything. Scandals distract for a long time.

This thing has caught a lot of traction and I don't know if anyone has linked the story on al.com that interviews Dr. Flynt and others but the Petrino haters are getting more vocal. I'm in the middle. I thought he was a done deal but now I'm beginning to think this coach search deal put together by Dr. G or JJ may be for real. Surely not?

I'm in the neutral category, maybe somewhat undecided. I don't like Petrino's personality. I think he's prob a jerk. I also think he's a great offensive coach and that he's never had a very good D as HC.
GH, curious to know if you think character should be considered when hiring the next HC? I'm not trying to be a smarty pants, just want to know how you feel about that.

Does any of the anti-Petrino group think he's more of an asshole, and morally inferior to Lord Saban? I'm genuinely curious. To me, having him across the state to be compared to makes Petrino Mr. Congeniality. We'd still have the "nice guy" on our side, relatively speaking.

My #1 choice is not Petrino, however I am smart enough to realize that he is a good football coach and I think he would be successful at Auburn.
Warblogle loses a lot of credibility, because he just doesn't like Petrino. He is a Falcons fan. Plain and simple his hate has blinded him to any rational thoughts. He lost that debate big time. His arguments about Petrino lying about leaving jobs is stupid, I am not saying it is right, but every coach does that.
So fucking what is my point. Is that indicative of how we are going to be on a football field? If he leaves us he leaves us, there are no guarantees in life. There are no guarantees that if we were to hire Charlie Strong, or Gary Patterson, or Gus Malzahn, that they wouldn't leave us for another job.

That's exactly it. You can't say on one hand that Sullivan and Bo epitomize the "Auburn man" and then rip the choice if they do in fact, hire Petrino. I think Pat Sullivan understands Auburn and he undersatnds coaching on this level. He's only been in it for about 40+ years.

He is just a good and decent guy who will try to find good football candidates. And I trust his judgement. As a kid growing up in Opelika, one night I saw him out at the old mall off of Pepperrell Parkway outside the Bonanza. I of course was in awe of him and got him to sign an autograph and almost pooped in my jeans when he invited Terry over to meet me and sign the same thing. (blah-blah I am old-but I have seen all three Heisman winners play. :fu:

Whats sad is if BMFP is hired and wins 10+ games in his 2nd season and stays out of trouble (and both have a damn good chance of happening) they will be singing his praises. Watch and see.

His Defenses weren't that bad, a lot better than Auburn's the last 4 years.

His defensive numbers improved every year he was at Arky and his last year at Louisville his D gave 16.6 pts a game. Just keep in mind that only Cam Newton and crew were the only ones that stood in Bobby Petrino's way of winning the SEC West in 2010. The very next season his fanbase was disappointed when they went 11-2 and finished with a #5 ranking. At fucking AR-KAN-SAW.

All this talk about what he did at Louisville, NFL, etc as far as wins/losses doesn't even fucking matter. He can win games in the SEC. We know that. I find that more relevant than his record at Louisville, but his record there certainly doesn't hurt his case, regardless of the competition that he faced. Maybe something happened and he lost all of his mojo and won't do well at AU. Who knows? You take nearly the same risk with any coach, IMO. No matter who it is, you're taking a risk. It is a calculated risk. There are alot of things that point to him being able to win at AU.
Plenty of coaches have baggage in one form or another. I suppose it is simply a matter of how much you are willing to accept. Petrino made a stupid decision with the whole mistress thing. Has he learned his lesson? Probably. Maybe he's going to fuck every voleyball player on campus. I don't know. I'm not saying that you guys should hire a total douche, but if you're looking for a choir boy.....good luck with that. AU just fired one.

Not to rehash tubs or anything but he undermined ole miss. He undermined auburn and us as fans everytime another damn job came open. Just saying. Cfb coaching isn't for the faint of heart. It's cut throat. WarFagle needs to grow a set.
