Worked up my own concoction last night. A variation on a recipe I saw.
Get a big dutch over...big boiler. Cut up 8 slices of bacon and cook until crisp. Take the bacon out and add two tablespoons of butter to about 2 tablespoons of the drippings. Melt it down and add:
3 cloves of minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon of coarsely ground black pepper
1 chopped red or yellow bell pepper
Cook those together for about 3 minutes and add 6 cups of chicken broth and chopped up new potatoes or yukon gold potatoes. Put in a teaspoon of seafood seasoning and a little hot sauce of choice. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer for 20-30 minutes or until the potatoes are soft.
Add 1 1/2 pounds of peeled and de-veined shrimp and cook for a few minutes then finish off by adding the cooked bacon back in.
Get a big spoon and get ready to pig out.

It was mighty tasty and the house still smelled good this morning. I'm normally teh suxxors in the kitchen but with this, I didn't see where I could go wrong. Just put a bunch of killer flavors together and boil the fool out of them. The original recipe did call for onion but I'm just not a fan.

Stone soup
Ingredients:
Rock
Misc vegetables, etc. that you scam off of the kindness of strangers
Go to a village, convince self-sufficient villagers into donating from their personal stores to a communal crock. Offer nothing from yourself, other than a stone you pick up from the ground outside their village.
