When you go from head coach to coordinator in the college world, there is usually a reason for that. Auburn certainly can't be stupid enough to go down this road in hindsight of hiring Chizik.

AUBURN - Auburn president Jay Gogue has told some members of the Board of Trustees he is making preparations to possibly replace head football coach Gene Chizik, multiple sources confirm.
Gogue also told the trustees to whom he talked that he plans to retain athletics director Jay Jacobs and reassign executive associate athletics director Tim Jackson, who oversees football.
In telephone calls with some members of the Board of Trustees last week and early this week, Gogue said he intends to form a committee to help with the decision and plans to move quickly, ideally naming a new head coach within days after the end of the season should the decision be made that Chizik will not be retained.
Gogue mentioned at least one potential candidate: Louisville offensive coordinator Shawn Watson.
Mike Clardy, director of university communications, said earlier in the week Gogue would not comment on the football program.
"At this time Dr. Gogue does not plan on commenting on the football program any further than he did in the statement released on 10/25," Clardy said in an email.

So he gets rid of Chizik, hires another "stellar" head coach, and reassigns his buddy to some other high paying position that gives him the ability to be a mole around the team.
I really don't believe any of this. I feel like this is another "BVG kicked out Wayne Bolt" story and PM is running too quickly with it.

If you believe 24/7's Phillip Marshall, AU President Jay Gougue is is planning on making a change at the end of the season. And if you believe Marshall, he's floating the name Shawn Watson.
What? You've never heard of Shawn Watson? Well, do not fret because neither have I. I had to look the guy up. From the ever reliable wikipedia:

How in the hell do we have a system in place this fucked up? No way should JJ stay and no fucking way we hire some no name coordinator as our head coach. This good ole boy network that makes up Auburn's board must go. Do the PTB not give a shit about the school they represent?
I could grab a few of you, take our asses o the Plains and run this shit better than what is in place? I have never been this disappointed about a football season, team, staff, or system in my life. BIG changes need to be made or our program will be set back for decades. We will turn into the step child.
