Title: Favorite Snack
Post by: Snaggletiger on October 17, 2012, 04:07:57 PM
Simple...but if you're sitting around watching teh tubes or reading etc. what's the snack of choice?  Over the last couple of years, I have become addicted to peanut butter filled pretzel nuggets. I buy em' by the tub.  Brand of choice is CVS and you can pick up a barrel load or two at CVS Drug Stores and they carry them at your local Pube-licks too.  What's the snack? Cheetos?  Doritos?  Peanuts?  What goes good with an ice cold beerz for you?

Bourbon and pussy, preferably in that order.

Golden Flake potato chips - my snack of choice when I can find them.  They are not carried by major grocery chains west of Beaumont.  I can find them in convenience stores in Houston every random now and then, and I always bring a few bags back whenever I come home.

Original Thin & Crispy is the bomb, and Dill Pickle is my absolute favorite flavor.

There's a Peanut Depot?

Not a sit around the house snack, but when I go to the movies a $27.00 TUB-O-CORN..and a diet coke...are a must.

You want butter on that?

No need to even answer.  Just give em' that stare like, "You serious, Clark?"  Make that bitch float.  Then I shovel it in my pie hole until I'm nauseated.  No movie is complete without it.

There's a Peanut Depot?

On Morris Avenue in downtown Birmingham.  We walk over about once a month and get a hot fresh bag...mmmmmmmm.

Dizzam, that looks mighty tatsty.  Love me some peanuts.  (Insert obligatory Snaggle nut joke here)

Back on teh popcorns, the Peanut Festival Fair will be here in a couple of weeks and a must have, to carry home, is a big bag of Kettle Corn.  They pop it up in a big iron kettle and stir it with what looks like a boat paddle.  No butter on it but it has a real sweet taste.

I usually tell the guy "No, just spray it down with that yellow shit on it."  I don't know why but he always laughs.

They are not NEARLY as good as Golden Flake.  Zapps DPs are not much different from their Salt & Vinegar.

You have to be careful with Salt and Vinegar chips in certain places.  Had some in BAHston once that were Salt and MALT vinegar.  I still shudder thinking about it.

The hands down best Salt & Vinegar chips in the entire world are made in the UK:  Walkers Crisps.  OH. MAH. GAWD.  One of the highlights of every trip across the pond.  They are thin like Golden Flake but the ratio of salt to vinegar is PERFECT.  You know how sometimes the S&V chips you get here will leave a residue on your fingers and in the bottom of the bag?  With these, there is none of that.  It's like the chips were soaked in salt water and fried in a vinegar oil - just enough of each.  It's almost subtle, the way the two tastes blend perfectly..

Ahem.

I'll be in my bunk...

My research shows Frito-Lay owns Walkers and some sites say it's the same recipe. You can buy Walker's here if you want to:  http://www.britishfooddepot.com/Crisps_c12.htm

Don't care what multinational food megacorporation owns them.  My taste buds say they are different.  Walkers' Crisps must be purchased from a grocery or take away store in the UK.  Mail order does not cut it.  And making them here just isn't the same - it's like Coca Cola or Hershey's chocolate in Mexico - just not right...

Besides, your research also shows that the UN is about to invade Wisconsin - I'll stick with personal experience, thanks.

You really don't have to be confrontational about it. I was merely trying to help you, however, a nice trip to the UK is always a blast.

Salt and Vinegar potato chip smack talk. We're definitely hitting new territory here.

And to answer snags thread question - big fan of honey roasted cashews and almonds. Also dig the nature valley bars.

There's a psychiactric term for this... some sort of attachment disorder?  Or in your case, detatchment disorder...
