Was there really any doubt that this was getting done? I think Chiz was making a point personally...

It's not a done deal yet...contrary to what the prowler says. As of today, the coaches want him to apparently come in a tell them that no matter what happens with Michigan, he will sign at Auburn. Apparently they don't want to accept this kid, let him take some one else's spot, and then have him sign with Michigan later on if he likes the new coaching staff. They want full commitment from him that he wants to play at Auburn before they officially accept. Or so I hear read...

Frost will not be visiting Auburn this weekend, and I doubt he visits again before Signing Day. The situation with him and Auburn has not been positive this week, and unless something changes, I don't see him ending up at Auburn. Still nothing final, but as of now, Auburn is "probably" done with him, according to one of my sources.

Werd on my skreet is that the coaches were not expecting his commitment, but he was more worried about the UM situation than sold on Auburn...so he took the safe route and committed.  The Auburn staff told him that they wouldn't accept his commitment unless he promised not to look again at UM once they hired a coarch.  I don't think he agreed.

Last year it was something with Seastrunk, this year Frost.  I do think it's a little odd, but I am not worried.  This coaching staff has proved that they know what they're doing.  WDE!

At some point, you have to jump on the train before it leaves the station. With how kids are getting more wishy-washy in recruiting nowadays, a bird in hand is worth two in the bush. Same thing at any upper level program. Frost has nobody but himself to blame.

It seems that Frost and our coaching staff are now on the same page. He is expected to be on our commitment list today. Also, Rivals will have their new rankings out today.

I just prefer to hope that it was done on Auburn's terms and not his.  A bit of humility would go a long way towards smoothing things over.

Personally glad we are taking this kid.  He is a beast of an athlete.

Now, let him spend a couple of weeks with Coach Yox and let him work a little of that piss and vinegar out of him.  He should be able to tell us how many steps there are in JHS.

Kris Frost happy to be on Auburn's commitment list

Published: Wednesday, January 19, 2011, 7:47 AM     Updated: Wednesday, January 19, 2011, 7:47 AM
By Charles Goldberg/Auburn Bureau, The Birmingham News, Press-Register, and The Huntsville Times

AUBURN -- It took 10 days, but Kris Frost's commitment to Auburn has been worked out, and he says he's ready to be a part of the Tigers' signing class on Feb. 2.

Frost, who was promoted from a four-star player to a five-star prospect by Rivals on Tuesday, committed to Auburn at the U.S. Army All-American Game on Jan. 8. The announcement surprised Auburn, so much so it had to look over its recruiting board to see just where the outside linebacker/receiver from Matthews, N.C., would land.

The 20th-best high school player in the nation, according to the latest Rivals 100 list, landed nicely, listed on recruiting sites as an "athlete." He said he has his eye on receiver.

Frost, who originally committed to Michigan, began switching gears as the Wolverines prepared to switch coaches leading up to the all-star game. That helped lead to the surprise announcement, and had Auburn finding a spot.

"Basically, it was a numbers game," Frost told AuburnUndercover.com Tuesday. "It comes down to business. I feel like Auburn thought I was going to Michigan, definitely."

But he decided Auburn would be the best place after talking it over with his family. He committed, but it took more than a week before he was on Auburn's recruiting list.

"It was really frustrating that a lot of people didn't know the full details of the story," said Frost, who noted the delay caused speculation that the Tigers didn't want him. "I just kind of brushed it all to the side and kept trying to get in contact with coach (Gene) Chizik. It all worked out in the end."

Frost narrowed his final choices to Auburn, Michigan and LSU. Others with offers included Clemson, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, California and North Carolina.

Frost could play wide receiver, a position with a lot of openings with the departure of seniors Terrell Zachery and Kodi Burns and junior Darvin Adams.

But Frost could also play defense. The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder made 103 tackles, including 5 sacks, as a senior linebacker on a Butler High defense the Charlotte Observer said was likely the best prep defense in North Carolina.

Frost said his all-star experience opened his eyes.

"I can definitely see that I pretty much had the receiver body playing linebacker," he said.

Frost said he prefers playing receiver, "but I'm a football player. I'm just excited about playing at Auburn University. That was my main goal, and now I've achieved that. Now, another goal of mine is to just get on the field wherever I play and succeed at it."

Although he's been to Auburn several times, he'll make his official visit to the school this weekend when the Tigers host a star-studded list of high school seniors who will witness the university's national championship celebration in Jordan-Hare Stadium Saturday.
