Title: "Avatar"...
Post by: AuburnChopper 3.0 on December 21, 2009, 06:05:04 PM
Any of you people seen it??

I'm hearing mostly good reviews, which surprises me for a fantasy, crazy looking movie like this.  I'm intrigued...

I heard that it was awful, and I also heard it was pretty good.

So, I went and saw it last night.  I have to say, it was a pretty good movie.  The CGI and 3d are fucking amazing.  The plot is pretty good, not the best I've ever seen, but If you like a little science fiction and a lot of action you will love it.

I would definitely recommend it.

I didn't want to see it at all... I mean AT ALL... but got drug to it anyway.  I don't regret going, and I do recommend seeing it.  3D was actually really kickass.

The plot?  Basically a CGI, 3 hour long Fern Gully.

So its basically big on fluff (CGI) and low on quality (plot)? Just like 90% of the movies made these days. I think I will keep my 10 bucks.

Taking the family to watch it this afternoon.  Do they give 3d glasses out at the theatre?

It's the new 3d, the glasses look like sunglasses.

So have they changed the way 3D is done?

3D used to have to be shot slightly out of focus for it to work.  If you were not wearing the glasses then you got a blurry movie.

I think it still works the same way, but the glasses are not those plastic red-blue lenses, but some other form of lense.  Like Jumbo said, they look like sunglasses.

Caught the matinee in 3d this afnoon.  Jumbo was right about the glasses, they look like old mob specs.  It's a very long movie but it's one of those if you do watch it then it's best to go see it in the theatre.  I probably watch 1 movie a year the theatre but I made a special trip, I bet you won't be disappointed.

That was actually pretty good.  The effects were very good, and the Pandora world itself was impressive.  I'm glad they didn't over do the 3D.  It was there, and it actually added to the movie, as opposed to become a distraction.  Well done.

Definitely would recommend seeing it if you haven't already.   :vn:
