Jerry says:
"I can't answer my phone or check my e-mail without getting a question about Auburn, and for the life of me, I can't figure out why. The Tigers are a slightly above average team in the weaker division of a below average major conference. They have a one-point win at home over Tennessee, and that's it. Yes, the Tigers have won seven of eight, but other than Tennessee, the wins have come over the other league punching bags. There's nothing to see here, folks. Move along, please."

Kentucky going 3-9 against those same "punching bags", however, is solid gold... :eyeroll:
-
At the risk of being a punching bag myself I've been turning a blind eye to the reality that Palm is probably right...unless we win the SEC Tournament.
-
al.com = Birmingham News = Crimson White (eastern edition)
Par for the course.
Rick Karle almost had tears in his eyes last night. He, along with his Saban dinghy riding cohorts, can't stand it when Auburn beats these assholes in anything. Fuck every one of them.
-
Someone email that guy and tell him the SEC West is 16-16 against the East this year. So much for the "weaker" division.

Kentucky has ONE quality win out of conference against West Virginia. That is it. I don't know why they are on the bubble but we aren't.
They are 3-6 in their last 9 in the SEC and we are 6-3. We also have the same conference record.

I keep the faith with the report I saw a couple of days ago on ESPN where they interviewed a member of the selection committee. He said the biggest factors they look at for at large berths were.
1. Record AGAINST high RPI teams
2. How you're playing down the stretch
According to the report, they said RPI nor conference affiliation was much of a factor. My take is very simple. Auburn is hot at the right time. IF...they beat LSU this weekend, they're in...regardless. 21 wins and finishing the way they are...that equates to in the dance.
-
IF and I mean IF we do not have a complete meltdown in this last stretch I am for Lebo getting one more year.

Would a close loss to LSU and then a close loss to say....Kentucky in the SEC tourny constitute a melt down?

I am going to have a meltdown if I see that girl in you're av. tease me one more time with those titties!!

I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you.
Kentucky, Florida and LSU all losing last night helped, but there is zero chance that AU wil make the NCAA barring winning the SEC Tourney.
-
I'm formulating my e-mail. Someone fact check me.

Isn't that 17-16 West now that MSU beat Florida?

3-7 over the last 10 now.

I don't disagree with you, but you're preaching to the choir. The guys who matter do not give a damn. I don't think you can make them give a damn. (We still have Chizik, don't we? If email campaigns had a real impact, he'd be selling cars in Evergreen, Alabama right now).
If you look at the numbers you'd think Auburn would be in easily over Kentucky (which won't make the tournament now). But the SEC may only get three entries. Auburn won't be one of them unless they win the tournament.
Kentucky isn't going to get in now unless they win the tourney. But they got more credit because they played -- and lost to -- better teams in the pre-season. Auburn got beat by Mercer. That won't be forgotten and will make AU easy to dismiss.

I know, it's just that in any other conference, the talking heads would be placing a team with our resume frimly on the bubble or in...with (IF) a win over #11 and our streak here at the end. I will say that everyone has been a little jaded by those same talking heads making their projections and mock brackets every night...but keep the faith that none of them are on the committee and every year, there's those few teams that everybody questions why they got in.
But, but, but...they weren't in Dickie V's bubble busters bracket.

I don't care. I just want to deflate this particular asshole's ridiculous argument.
I know this sounds black helicopterish, but the media's vendetta against Auburn cannot be explained. It's like, not only do these guys overlook us, but when they're reminded that we should be in the discussion they arrogantly scoff at the notion...

I'm not talking about Vitale, though. Two guys who don't get it wrong is who said it. It's been a long time since Whatsitanirdo and Palm were wrong.
There's not a lot of respect for the SEC this year. And frankly, there's not a lot of respect for Auburn. Given them no reason to respect us for the last five years.

Anyone know this asshole's e-mail?
I couldn't post a comment on the al.com page either. Wouldn't let me register...

Wonder where ole Jerr has Kentucky now after that fine ass showing last night...at home...against the worst team in the conference?
Firmly on the bubble with a needle in hand?
-
What about that asshole Joe Lunardi? Got his e-mail?
I want to send the same one to him. He's had the same idiotic shit to say about the West being the "weak" division of the SEC despite the FACT that they have a losing record to the West this year. He's also still on Kentucky's nuts.

I missed that report but I'm glad to hear it...I'm keeping the faith for Auburn too...despite my earlier post on this thread.
By the way...it is great to see such spirited activity on the basketball forum!

The more I think about this with a clearer head the more I think that this guy needs his ass beat. Thanks for posting his email, Kaos.
