So I'm driving a rental courtesy of Ford while they attempt to resolve whatever's wrong with my truck. The rental doesn't have Sirius. I could hook up my Spotify but didn't. Instead I've been treating myself to FM radio. Holy shit. It's so fucking awful.
Mornings on every station: Three or four goobers and a girl talking about the most banal, juvenile, boring shit and then braying fake laughter.
"I masturbated to a twinkie last night. A strawberry one..."
BAAAAHAAAHAHAHAHHAHA heeeee wheeeeze HAHAHA HAHAHAHA
"A strawberry one!"
BAAAWAAAHAWWHAHA Weeeeeezee weeezeee HAW HAW HAW HAW!
You shore it wasn't cream filled?
BAAAA HAHAHAHA HAAAWWW HAWWWW HEEE HEE HEEE WHEEEZE
Terrible. Just horrible, terrible, awful, shitty. They all SUCK. Jim Bill and Bobby, Dick and Blubber, Jerx and Hairy.... They. Fucking. Suck. The one on TK101 is the absolute worst. I can't believe those no talent assclowns are still around. I remember hearing their show back in like 1999 or 2000 and thinking how shitty they were.
Who in their right mind listens to any of this?
And then...
Afternoons on every station:
Commercial, commercial, commercial, commercial, commercial, commercial, commercial, commercial, commercial, commercial, commercial "Let's get back to the music on 999.995 The Music Station!" Song. Commercial. Commercial. Commercial. Commercial. Commercial.
I drove 45 minutes the other day and heard three, maybe four songs. Again, who in their right mind is listening to this?
I just don't remember it being that bad.

It's horrid. That's why I originally went to satellite: lack of morning show yahoos (unless you went out of your way to find them) and commercials.
Once they introduced both, I was out.
It's all streaming music or NPR in my car.

I know we're agreeing here, but that explains a lot.

Yeah, I saw that and actually laughed out loud. It explains a lot.

You guys are aware that they discuss things other than politics on NPR, right?
Great science shows, Acoustic Interlude, jazz programs....

Right. And schwetty balls.
I don't listen to Alex Jones for the same reason I'd never listen to NPR. The complete lack of objectivity, the firm adherence to a far left/right/nutso point of view colors even what they attempt to present as 'straight' news. It's not just NPR, though. It bleeds over into virtually every media outlet at this point. The entire industry has embraced the "if you tell a lie long and loud enough..." philosophy. If the choice is between Dumb and Dumber's morning chuckle-fest and NPR, I'm choosing silence.

92.1 WZEW Crew and WNSP. Of course, I visit WHIL 91.3 to listen to the liberal view of NPR, plus I DJ'd in 1980 for my comm arts class at SHC (I love Classical Music). Really though, it's hard to believe the direction TK101 has gone recently. I'm a Foo Fighters fan and TK hasn't been keeping up since like 2012.
