Let's play Bammer for a minute.

Malzahn was going to fire him anyway so the lateral move to Texas is really part of his master plan.  This just lets Hand save face and makes the program better.  Another underperforming coach processed!

He might come to Gusterworld for a billion.

That super-obnoxious weight trainer at Alabama makes over a million.

Edited... This isn't the guy I thought it was.  We've had a lot of grime apparently.  There was another.

This one is one I definitely don’t mind rehiring.

He has a good reputation as a high level coach and recruiter.

The other grimes went to Texas, didn’t he?

So that’s 4 assistants they’ve taken in the last 15-20 years?

That’s a little fishy.

It's an upgrade over Hand that is fo sho.  Grimes was never a bad coach was never really crazy about us trading him for Hand to begin with.

Was a little disappointed because like Prowler I was hoping for Searles.

You are thinking of Jeff Grimes, who was also our OL coach under Chizik.

Looks, like the drummer who replaced the original drummer on Chicago. Or Walter White if he had lived. Can he get us out of the 90s and 100s on sacks given up? That would be nice.

What I like the most, his Oline gave up 52 sacks in 3 seasons, Hand's Oline gave up 55 sacks in 2 seasons.

The line did seem to have a mean streak in em when he was here.  Could've just been Dismukes leading the way though.

Reese Dismukes, Greg Robinson, Alex Kozan, Shon Coleman, Chad Slade, Avery Young, etc. This doesn't include those he recruited like Braden Smith.

This right here....

Quote
Auburn's offensive line flourished under Grimes' leadership, helping lead one of the SEC's top rushing attacks from 2013-15. Auburn was the first team in SEC history to lead the nation in rushing in 2013 and was in the top four of the conference in fewest sacks allowed during his three years coaching the offensive line.

We complained about Slade and a couple of others that eventually moved on but the overall core of that group was very solid.

Hell this one was very good but curiously inconsistent. When fully healthy it bested Georgia and Alabama. No other offensive line pushed those fronts around and the reason might come down to play calling and the overall game plan.

I have a person of interest but the weasly sonuvabitch always seems to have an alibi.

jmar ever since I have had to read your posts, I can’t recall an offensive player that you haven’t called for moving to cornerback at some point in their tenure. Yes, including the linemen.

You probably don’t recall but yes, it’s true.

And, yes. There is a problem.

Nick Marshall is a defensive back, he just happened to be a fantastic college option quarterback with a skrong arm and a knack for placing a ball within a grenades reach of a receiver.

*other examples

Rudy Ford-RB/KR
Quan Bray-hs QB/ Auburn WR. Inconsistent but a baller due mainly to speed.
Trovon Reed-hs QB/ Auburn WR.
Melvin Ray- baseball player. Good skills just never developed on his own as a receiver.
Onterrio McCalleb- Free agent with Cincy as a cornerback, got injured and might be in the CFL now.

Some were a liability blocking or tackling but Malzahn still played them out of position.

**Deion Sanders never actually tackled a motherfucker in his entire career. Sleeve grabber!
I did witness him shield block a time or two as a wide receiver.

If Lee Ziemba could line up as a wide receiver, what makes you think he wouldn't have been a great cornerback?

That play immediately came to mind. Freddie's head was looking down when the ball hit it. Looking down because neon had hit it a second before the ball got there! That should have been a TD for the win!

Couldn't stand the guy but he did break conventional thought on both sides of the ball.
And yes, we had to throw it in his direction to seal it in '89.
Thanks...had that erased from memory. Now it's back!
