Mickey Dean from James Madison. A pretty solid hire to replace Clint.

Does he have a son in coaching?

His stand up leaves a lot to be desired.

From his James Madison Bio.
Quote
Dean has brought JMU to new heights and in the national spotlight of collegiate softball since his arrival five years ago. He guided the Dukes to NCAA postseason each of the past five seasons after setting a single-season wins record in each year. He has won more than 79 percent of his games as JMU’s head coach with a record of 237-56, including an impressive 88-9 mark in the Colonial Athletic Association.

JMU opened the 2017 season with its highest preseason rank in program history with its No.14 selection in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Coaches Polls and went on to with the 2017 CAA Championship, marking the first time in program history the Dukes have won back-to-back conference titles. JMU earned a berth to the Waco Regional hosted by Baylor. JMU went 2-2 in the Waco Regional after stumbling to the Lady Bears in the regional finals. With a 52-8 mark, the Dukes set the program and the CAA’s record for most wins over a single season.

Dean coached the program’s first Shutt Sports/NFCA Division I National Player of the Year as Megan Good nabbed the honor after being named an NFCA First Team All-American and becoming the first student-athlete to receive CAA Pitcher and Player of the Year in the same season. Dean also guided Odicci Alexander to CAA Freshman of the Year after her strong debut season for the Dukes. Good was one of eight Dukes to earn NFCA All-Region selections and one of five All-CAA selections on the squad. The CAA named Dean the Coach of the Year for his efforts.

In 12 seasons at the college ranks, Dean has amassed a 543-177 (.754) career record and a 10-year, Division I coaching record of 478-172 (.735), having coached one season at the junior college level. He has also been named conference coach of the year eight times, with four in the Big South and four in the CAA.

Seems like a decent hire.

Seems like a decent hire.

Over/under on finding out he is married to a wax mannequin of Quentin Tarantino, has a hello kitty porn collection, used nipple clamps as motivational punishment at JMU and attends the same First Holiness Church of Puffed Up Jesusness as Jay Jacobs?

Seriously?  Looks like a decent hire. But jay's track record blows.  I find it baffling that we are able to pull established and successful coaches in softball and even baseball but Jay can't look for outside his own front yard when it comes to football.

That's not true, Mike Bobo resides in the state of Colorado, miles and miles from the loveliest village. He will unofficially meet with Jay this weekend and will be all but signed, sealed and delivered as our new head football coach...ceremonial legends to follow with that seal of approval.

You are the second person I've heard drop a Bobo.

Where is this coming from?

I don't want a Bobo.  We had a Tuberville.

Thankfully, you are usually wrong.

I only dropped a Bobo because traditionally Auburn rarely ventures out of it's own backyard or even a cousins' if you count UGA. It's almost always some one time past hire with some familiarity to the program.

Don't know any more of Bobo than what you saw under Richt.
Not so impressive but compared to ours which has been stuck in quicksand it can't be much worse.
He gets a trial run against Bamer today.

Can understand some here wanting a complete break from these hiring patterns and of course that will never happen with Jacobs.

I too wanted that over the years and it took a long while to realize why we never ventured far off.  ie. Chip Kelly, Brian Kelly or Charles Machinegun Kelly.
