Title: Fat Bastard Week
Post by: WiregrassTiger on October 19, 2015, 11:07:08 AM
We don't match up well vs their offense. Them boys line up in the I and run it right at you. Not that we are stellar when they spread out but I think we are worse vs. this style (see LSU game).

I still think we can beat them and I'm going to pick us but I'm eager to see who the sports experts go with.

Gus will have to open up the playbook a little more. Have to let White throw the deep middle more and let him keep it. Hopefully, a steady dose of Barber will keep it away from them and let us get out of there with a win.

Contrary to a lot of what I saw on here, I apparently imagined some improvement with our D last week. I don't care how many yards Arky runs up on us. Just points. So, if we can win the turnover margin again, get more 3rd down stops (which killed us vs KY)--I really like our chances.

I think we're getting into a rhythm slowly but surely on offense. Gus looks more involved than earlier this season and I think that's helping.

FWIW - Arky has the worst Pass D in the league.

I think the offense has found their groove and a particular personnel grouping is getting confident together.  Let White run the team with the urgency of the first two drives against Kentucky.  The playbook didn't appear too big for the kid in his first SEC road game.  Let the baller ball.

Allen's going to have a field day with Henry and Morgan across the middle of our defense.  The one route that they're really great at running is the one play our guys are fucking horrible at defending.  Collins will get his yardage and then some against our line.  The only silver lining is that the Arky offense all occurs within a 20 yard box, so we can bring up some run support from the backfield.

Our saving grace is going to be their offense's baffling inability to convert in the red zone.  Combine that with the 4th quarter suckage that appears to be the MO of this Arky team and Auburn is going to take this one.

Had this chalked up as an easy-ish win in the preseason.  Ugh.

Where are you getting this?  Hogville.net?

I fully expect us to fuck everything up and lose by 21.  I also expect Bielema to eat three six McDoubles at halftime.

Making fun of injuries to these courageous young men who are giving their all for good ole AU, is a classless move, buddy.  You should be ashamed.  You do know he had to work it out on the stationary bike after that for...well....minutes.

^^^This. I really thought that their fan base would be classier, seeing as how Arkansas is home to Wal Mart. Disappointing to see this re: a kid who was obviously injured while giving his all for our entertainment.

Shameful and an embarrassment. And I'm not talking about Bert but him too.

Well, maybe it wasn't that bad but it was still a DERP idea.

Being serious, I think he's an ok coach. You guys took the blueprint of hiring a Yankee coach that believes in pounding it out like Bo and Woody used to do. And it's worked well in the SEC for Bama and LSU.

Problem is, you're having to compete more for the big boys it takes to run that style with Bama and LSU. There aren't as many of them as there are guys capable of playing in the spread type. Just my opinion but time will tell.

And while we both suck pretty bad this year, both teams have shown some improvement and it should be a real slobber knocker of a game. Actually, there's a lot on the line in that it's the "Battle for Not Last Place in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference".

Fur realz question though......do you REALLY like Bert (the total package being a top notch douche aside from coaching) ? And would you take Motorbike Bobby back? How do the fanbase and "boosters" generally feel about Bert?

I can't dislike Bert for making Gus his personal adversary.
I still think Hog fans want our coach and Bert wants to create some artificial friction with or without Gus' participation.
Apart from that the guy's a good representative even though a HC is judged by Ws and Ls. He's also entertaining and actually possesses a personality.

Little surprised, Personally I think he's a classless moron, which I guess is fine if you are winning ball games..  But as a football coach I haven't seen much improvement in your team year 3 and you still seem to be having the same issues.

Not my coach though so your opinion is yours to have. ;)

Right - which is kind of why I asked, in re to Bobby. Both a-holes, both classless. Petrino won double digit games though. Bert has done jack shit at Arky. Why is Bobby worse than Bert? He at least won games. If youre gonna take the asshole, take the one that wins. I dunno, just my outsider view.

Finally wrapped up some work that had to get done today, been watching some fooseball and drinking a beverage.  Getting pumped about the game tomorrow, trying to decide whether to try and get some sleep or just drink straight thru til the game.  I don't know if we're going to win or not, but I'm liking our chances.
As a fat guy, I have decided everybody picks on Bret because he's fat.  If he was skinny, everybody would think his media comments were cute similar to Spurrier's.  I came to this conclusion after the dustup with the Texas Tech Nancy Boy coach Ryan Gosling wannbe.
To rehash, after a nice win over the hogs, Nancy Boy calls out Bret because he supposedly made some highly offensive remarks about spread offenses at a coaching convention in Houston the previous summer.  The media jumped all over Bret about his big mouth and how this was another embarrassing incident for the Ark coach.  Everyone just assumes Nancy Boy is telling the truth (he's skinny and cute, he must be telling the truth), even though there were absolutely no reports of these offensive comments at the time.  Bret can make a sarcastic comment about his B10 record being better than $aban's in a backwater Arkansas fund raiser and it makes national news, but somehow when speaking in front of a Texas high school coaches convention in the 4th largest city in the nation, he made offensive comments to these coaches and nobody reported it.  Right.
