NCAA is investigating Auburn, Danny Sheridan says in speech to the Tuscaloosa Quarterback Club
By Don Kausler Jr.

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - Auburn allegedly has pulled two assistant coaches off of the road recruiting because of possible NCAA rules violations, national sports analyst Danny Sheridan said Monday night in a speech to the Tuscaloosa Quarterback Club.

Much of what he went on to say about Auburn was off the record.

"Based on what I've heard, the NCAA is looking at their program," Sheridan said after his speech. "I'll say that on the record.

"I will quickly say, I hope they are exonerated. But if it's true that they've taken two of their coaches off the road, that generally speaking is not a good sign. Usually when you take a coach off the road, it's an effort to placate the NCAA."

I'm expecting more of this.  Auburn is 1-7?  This is their chance.  Finebaum will ease his callers into discussing Sheridan and then let them bring up all of the rumors from the past four years.  They're going to go for the jugular and try to take our recruits while also trying to hammer in our last coffin nail.

Finebaum started it yesterday.  One of his first topics he brought up.

How would Danny Sherrydan know?  He claimed to have inside sources at the NCAA and they publically said he's full of shit. He went on record about the "bag man" and was proven to be a bold faced liar.  So, how would he know what the NCAA is or is not investigating.  And by the way, they've already run a scope up the entire athletic department's ass just recently and didn't find so much as an unpaid parking ticket.

Not bringing Bama into this, but why is this news to Sherrydan but discussing the NCAA openly investigating a Bama recruit in Pensacola is not.  And he's in Tuscaloosa...

And by the way, bring it Danny.

I think if we had any semblance of a football team, someone may actually give a fuck.

I almost wish we would get hit with sanctions right now. At least then there'd be an excuse. And we'd have carte blanche to scorch our entire AD to the ground.

...and not have to pay Chizik his buyout.

Danny Sheridan—"sports analyst" for USA Today and apparent expert on everything related to Auburn and the NCAA—has made another sweeping declaration on what appears to be imminent doom for the Auburn football program.

It's not about the coaching situation, Auburn's 1-7 record or its inability to get anything going on offense.

No, that'd be too easy.

Sheridan went "old school" after his speech at the Tuscaloosa (Ala.) Quarterback Club saying that two Auburn assistant coaches have been pulled off the road, according to AL.com.

Based on what I've heard, the NCAA is looking at their program. I'll say that on the record. I will quickly say, I hope they are exonerated. But if it's true that they've taken two of their coaches off the road, that generally speaking is not a good sign. Usually when you take a coach off the road, it's an effort to placate the NCAA.

This coming from the man who said that he knew the name of the "bag man" that he alleged paid the father of former Auburn quarterback Cam Newton to come to Auburn before the 2010 season. The same man that went on the radio on the Paul Finebaum Radio Network to release the name of the alleged bag man and then hid behind his lawyers when nothing came of his allegations.

That little incident led the NCAA—an organization within which he claims to have multiple sources—to issue a statement refuting his claims and stating that Sheridan instead used the meeting as an attempt to gather his own information.

In October 2011, the NCAA cleared Auburn of any wrongdoing in Newton's case, in addition to several other incidents it was investigating involving the Auburn football program.

Hasn't Sheridan learned his lesson?

This rumor is nothing new. I was asked about it on October 23 on my weekly radio appearance on Head To Head Radio in Mississippi.

Do you believe that Danny Sheridan has any dirt on Auburn?Yes76.4%No23.6%Total votes: 208
My response then is the same as it is now. If assistant coaches were taken off the road, that is not something that is easy to hide.

Recruiting slows down during the evaluation period, but coaches still have contact with uncommitted recruits—many of whom have no loyalty to the program. If something was out of the ordinary, somebody would probably say something.

Does that mean that Sheridan's wrong?

No. Sometimes message board rumors turn out to be true.

But just because Sheridan mentioned it at a Tuscaloosa Quarterback Club doesn't give the rumor legs. Based on recent history, it actually makes it less believable.

Based on this season's results, if Auburn is cheating, it's doing it wrong.

You guys don't get it's exactly what he wants.

People talking about or writing about Danny Sheridan makes him relevant.  There really is no such thing as bad publicity.  The more crazy shit he spouts the more he gets written about.

I don't have a problem with refusing to comment on this.  You don't dignify every rumor with a response.  Doubly true when Sheridan is the source of said rumor.

Yep.

But they'll play their little games though.  Come July, Finebaum will have Sheridan on to discuss what all he may or may not possibly if asked by a lie detector test know.  And no one but inbred bammers and pussified, little brother Auburn fans will care.

These motherfuckers are so biased they don't even try to hide it anymore. This is atleast the 2nd time Chizik has been asked about an internet rumor by the media. Remember earlier this year when Auburn was about to get hammered over Memphis? Wonder if anyone in the media has asked the almighty about the NCAA investigating one of his recruits? Something that is not a fucking internet rumor.

I sent a tweet Matt Scalici, Sports Ed. at AL.com, back when that sports agaent was calling the midget a cheater. Pretty much called him and the state media out for not having the stones to ask weeman about it. His respone, I shit you not, no specific allegation was that could be asked about. I pointed out that if it were Chizik you could bet money someone would ask him. He responded like a champ and fucking blocked from his twitter his twitter account. To this day I remain devestated.

Remember the NCAA investigation of uat commit Darius Paige and his transfer from Washington High to Foley, where a uat coach told him that he'll make sure his grades and tests are fixed so that he can catch up on 7 Core classes bring that 1.6 GPA up just a tad to be qualified.

Of course you don't remember that because as soon as that story hit, Sheridan came out with his garbage.
