I used to like you.
Rangers line up scares me.

HAHAHA...
I can talk shit because it doesn't matter THAT MUCH to me.
I hate fans like that...
-
I'm also going on record:
I won't watch the first pitch of the WS.

I think it's great, but I would gladly allow the Cards to be swept if it meant an Auburn victory on Nov 26th.

Word.
Just think though, a month ago we were talking about Berkman possibly being traded to the Rangers...

And Arthur Rhodes gets both an ALCS ring, a NLCS ring, and the ring for whoever wins the World Series.
-
Meh, pulling for the Cards since it is the last year that they will be any good for a while.......especially since Baltimore is going to steal a pitcher from them and Pujols is going to the Cubbies.
Fully expect the Rangers to pound their asses though.

I'll remember that comment the next time Wilco has a new album out.
-
I'm going to go ahead and say what everybody knows...Cards win it all in four!
-
I'll remember that comment the next time Wilco has a new album out.
A little harsh don't you think?
You know the Baltimore comment is full of shit. We don't buy pitching, we buy old washed up DH's and give them $8 million a year like that is going to make a difference. Apparently we moved a lot of pitchers to the minors this past spring. I guess they are hoping that they will develop................it wouldn't hurt to unload someone like Vlad and buy a good quality veteran pitcher to build a young staff around. Fuck, now I am getting ill again, over baseball!
-
I'm also going on record:
I won't watch the first pitch of the WS.
Just catch the second.
-
I stopped caring back in September.

Just giving you shit. I love the Cards, but it's a very distant second next to Auburn.

Yeah, I know.......still sitting here wishing Angelos a death by fire with the fury of a thousand suns.

Go Rangers.
Can't stand Tony LaRussa.

The whole fucking deal with a wild card team hosting the world series is the dumbest thing I have ever heard...
That shit is whack yo...

Lucky mother fuckers.
How many RBI balls can you possibly hit within 3 feet of the right field line...

My thoughts on the game.
I can understand Washington sending the runner in the first. Trying to manufacture a run, and you got picked off. Hope to take the crowd out of it. But I knew as soon as he jumped Molina would get him.
What I don't get were the PHs he sent up in the 6th. I also don't get burning a left specialist on John Fucking Jay. I mean, Jay was 0-3 to that point, GIDP, and hitting weak shit back to the short stop.
I almost felt like Washington was trying to out manager LaRussa, instead of just managing his guys.
What would worry me if I were a Rangers fan: Pujols was 0-2, 0 rbis, and Cards still won.
Why I worry being a Cards fan: 3-4-5 guys on Texas were 2-12. They won't stay that cold.
Key to game tonight for the Rangers is getting guys on. Garcia pitches awful with guys on. He lets things bother him. Bloop singles, errors, walks. Starts hanging stuff up in the zone, and he'll get battered. If he makes his pitches, he can be tough to beat, he's also very good at home.
Again, I wouldn't be shocked if either of these teams won the series in 4 (or 5 for Texas), of if it went 7.
-
Hamilton is not right. That is the hole in the line-up right now. He grimmaces with every pitch.
PH German in that situation was stupid. I can see hitting for Murphy, because he sucks against lefties. But German? Shit. And Rzenksjyslfnsky was frustrating to watch. It looks like folks should tee off on that hanging breaking ball shit....
Also, you need to plug in Ogando when he can pitch an inning or 2. He has nasty stuff and is ussually used for more than 1 hitter...
I agree...Wash out managed himself. I admit, now that I have been paying more close attention to the Rangers and have watched them more than any other team the past 4 or so years, I had really forgotten how much different the NL is. I hope Wash doesn't fuck things up trying to play that game. But again...a wildcard team hosting a World Series is kind of fucked up...
And again...damn the luck...
-
Did the red-birds win? What happened to "the record".

Best of 7 dumb ass...

Suck it bitches...
You didn't specify series, just that the redbirds won't win.
I guess now that I look at it closer, you could be talking about stuffed animals at the fair. But I just thought you meant win "at all".
Carry on with your mourning.

Is there such a thing a s stuffed fair animal? Or would they just be stuffed animals at the fair?
Are there companies that make stuffed animals specifically for the fair? If so, I guess, then, those would be stuffed fair animals.
Hmm. I'll have to look into that and get back to you.
Good luck to your Rangers in the SERIES.

Totally agree about a wildcard team hosting. Should always be the team with the best record. Regular season needs to mean something. You don't win your division, you shouldn't have home field advantage.
And about Ogando. Where could you have pulled a double switch? I think the 5-6-7 guys were up. 6 and 7 got on with 1 out. I suppose he could have pulled the double switch, moving the pitcher to the 8 spot, but other than that, you don't want to lose your big guns, especially when you know if anyone gets a hit, they'll get another shot at tying it up.

True. I would have probably just gone after Punto or whatever his name is with Wilson.

Yep, I was thinking the same thing. He's a top of the rotation guy for a reason. You get Punto out, Carp pitches the next inning.

Yeah...it didn't matter in the long run I guess...

Yep. Not the series everyone was making it out to be. That loss hurt the Cards big time.
Winner of Game 3 will take this series.
-
Damn Carpenter...that was a bit uncalled for...
-
What you saw last night was the 2011 Cardinals from April - August. Waste a great start by Carp, 1 for 12 (or was it 13) with RISP, strand 15 (15!), and 2 or 3 GIDP.
Rangers have this in the bag. Garcia hasn't made two straight quality starts since April or May, and even if we win game 6, Loshe is starting game 7.

What the fuck was going on??? Pujols calling his own hit and run? Lasorda calling for Motte to get someone else? Twice? Kyle (I think) coming in to just walk someone? I actually really like Lasorda, but he fucked up that 8th inning.
And Napoli is the man. He has played out standing!
I think the Rangers win it in 6...
-
Napoli is your MVP. I think Rangers in 6 also.
Last night was a clusterfuck of biblical proportions. I suspect that he's covering for someone, and the crowd noise is an excuse.
The hit and run with Craig on, and Pujols up. Both times with no outs. Granted, he's GIDP 30+ times this season. But Wilson couldn't find the strike zone, and Feliz didn't get Albert anything to hit within a foot of the plate.
Really bad at bats by the Cardinals.
And it's LaRussa. Lasorda is the one Irwin Fletcher hates.
-
Jesus, last night was like watching the Braves fuck it up in 91. It was painful to watch. I wanted to feel bad, but dammit, this is the show, no one answering the bullpen phone, then call time out, talk to the ump and send a fucking bat boy to the bullpen. Something, anything.
-

That's the World Series that made me hate the Braves. I was in boot camp, and I get a letter from a buddy of mine who wrote "GO BRAVES!" on the back of the envelope. DI on duty that night was from Minnesota (and I believe the night the Braves moved ahead 3-2). Holy shit, I did pushups for about 2 hours, all the while cussing Smoltz and Glavine.

hahaha...I knew Lasorda looks wrong as I typed it but I didn't slow long enough to change it. That is like me infamously calling Jack Nicholaus, Jack Nicholson...or how ever you spell it...
What did you think about Carpenter's little tirade? It was surprising to me. I can see getting excited and emotional, but it looked like he was calling out Napoli.
And yeah...I think LaRussa was covering for someone too. Maybe even himself. He didn't want to put up with the 500 million questions or second guesses by the fans.
Also, what have you heard about the supposed hit and run that Pujols didn't swing at. Did anyone actually confirm that was a hit and run called by Pujols? It looked like LaRussa questioned dude in the dugout...
-

That series......Lonnie Smith making little league mistakes on the base paths and then Bobby Cox bringing in Liebrandt to pitch to Puckett. Puckett only had a .800 career average against him and almost half his hits were home runs. Of course I didn't care as I wasn't a fan of either team, but it was painful to watch the better team totally fuck it up.
It was like Cox and the Braves were dominant in the Reg season but at some point in the playoffs, you knew they were going to blow it.
-
I hadn't heard anything about Carp, just saw some message board stuff, but didn't read anything. Avoding espn.com or the other sports sites to keep my blood pressure down. Didn't see it on the Post Dispatch web site, either.
The hit and run in the 6th, against Wilson, where Pujols didn't swing baffles me. It looked like Pujols put it on, but the pitch was so high, he couldn't swing. I can't figure out why put it on there. At that point, Wilson was struggling to find the strike zone. And it looked like TLR wasn't sure what happened.
But after getting burned by it in the 6th, why the hell would you put it on in the 9th, down two runs? You need base runners. If Pujols takes it yard, it's tied. But then the hit and run doesn't matter. Again, Feliz wasn't looking sharp. He hit Craig, and Pujols swung at a pitch really out of the zone, to start the double play. And then he promptly walks Holliday (if only Berkman had seen the ball come out).
For the life of me, I can't figure out why put it on in the 9th.
I think I'd be more pissed if we hadn't won it in 06. Yeah, it'll suck to lose. But all I want out of the Cards is a shot every year. And I think they are one of those teams that, while they won't make the playoffs every year, they'll give you a reason to at least watch into August/September.
-
I didn't read anything about Carp...but after getting Napoli out...I think maybe in the 6th...you could clearly read his lips..."FUCK YEAH. YOU PIECE OF SHIT. FUCK YOU"...
It is when Napoli flied out to deep right center with man on 1st and third. I was shocked that he said it...
-
Found it...

Meh, he does that to everyone.
It's part of the reason he and Nijel Morgan got into it. He struck out Morgan, said something, Morgan threw his dip at him. I just chalk it up to Carp being Carp.

Oh big time. You know how Cubs fans like Zambrano, but everyone else thinks he's a cock.. ok nevermind.
Yeah, he's a dick. If he played for anyone else, I'd want him to get goat aids.

Damn. The birds just sent teh world series to game seven. Don't sweat it Jarhead, the birds will win with ease tomorrow.
-
That may have been the best baseball game I've ever seen. Certainly the best World Series game I can remember since maybe game 7 in 2001 (Arizona over NYY).
I'm not sure if my heart can take another game like tonights, I think I aged about 10 years. Fuck, between Auburn Football, and Cardinal Baseball, I'm going to have a heart attack before I'm 40.
-

I agree 110%. I don't give a shit about either team, but I found myself watching anxiously and cheering for the Cardinals. I will be watching game 7 tonight.

I don't how you could be happy watching a traitor like Pujlos playing for your team.....you know he is chomping at the bit to be in Chicago!

I wish Baltimore was smart enough to go after some pitching.
Although it wouldn't surprise me to see them show some interest in CJ Wilson.......but they will probably pass b/c we have this guy in the minors that is going to be the shit.....tired of that already. Buy some MLB pitching already.

How do you feel about this:

The Orioles are going back to the cartoon bird
Craig Calcaterra
Oct 28, 2011, 1:30 PM EDT
News you can use: Roch Kubatko of MASN tweeted that the Baltimore Orioles are going to change their caps next year, returning the cartoon bird of the 70s and 80s. No word yet if it will be like the one shown here or if it will have the white field like it did in the early 80s.
After replay, religion, politics, Ryan Howard and cake vs. pie, I’m pretty sure there hasn’t been more disagreement and rancor around these parts about any topic besides cartoon mascots. But I’m a man of principle and I must take a stand: I approve of this development. Bringing back the cartoon bird is a winning move.
Have at it, you wrongheaded cartoon haters
-
Actually <3 it. It can't hurt at this point.
-
I wish Baltimore was smart enough to sell their team to the city of Portland.
#winning
-
Congrats to the Cardinals. They played lights out all postseason.
-
What happened to the record?
Did the redbirds actually win?
Hmmmmm!
-
Great series, WE!!! Hope you guys bounce back and win one soon.
-
That was an awesome series. Glad the birds won it, but won have been happy if the Rangers won as well.
Glad your team won there Jarhead!
-
Everything completely fell in place for the Cards this year. I mean...a freaking rain out for a delay in order to let one of the best pitchers in the league to pitch game 7...everything...it was just one of those things it seemed. Big hits from guys not named Berkman, Pujols or Holliday...crazy....
This one stings for this area...
-
It's going to be hard to not root for Texas going forward. Everything I've heard out of the manager and players makes me want to root for them to win one next year. A truly classy organization.
-
LaRussa just announced his retirement. Wonder if this will factor into the Pujols decision.
-
St Louis is ghey.
