Once Thrilla started talking about sucking Bobby Cox' shriveled man meat, the mods started deleting threads.

As the original author of that thread, I must protest...

I don't know why the mods hate blowjobs...
I was wondering about the disappearance myself, Wench. It just doesn't make sense.

Johnie Cochran is dead, bitch. Now where's my thread??????????????? :box:

I have no clue what happened to the original thread. I defer to Brian.

Just what in the hell do you have to bitch about anyway? Your Asstros are right in the thick of it.

My Braves are now 3 games over .500 and playing the best baseball of the year. Unfortunately, they've lost ground to the Phillies during that stretch.

Hells yeah! Beating Lincecum last night was HUGE for the team's confidence. Their bats are on fire. Martin Prado is gonna be the player of the year for the Braves.
It all comes down to their pitching. If they can get quality starts out of their starters they should be good, as the hitters are putting runs on the board. And if Soriano comes out in a save situation...then it's gonna be lights out, bitch!
I still maintain that this team has great potential to make a playoff run.

A three game sweep of the Redbirds was my first excuse of the year to do a happy dance on that thread. Now the damn mods have taken even that little bit of joy away from me...
Bastards.

I am still waiting, assholes. WHERE IS MY FUCKING THREAD??????????????????????????

How bout that Grand Slam last night?
-
HR to take a one run lead in the top of the ninth...2 run HR to lose the game in the bot 9th. :puke:
We would have been 2 games back in the WC.

How about that ass kicking tonight even AFTER the Wizard went out injured... ??? :fu:

It's why I haven't participated in any of these threads...
that and I don't really want to get my hopes up. Really, who have the Cubs beaten during this "streak". 4 from the Nats (the worst team in baseball), lost 2 of 3 to the Phils, and swept 3 games from Cinci. Now they are playing a rubber match today against the Stros. I am not impressed. They are doing just enough to give people hope...but I am not falling for it. I am keeping with the "wait til next year" mantra.
P.S. Soriano should have gotten ear holed last night for the bullshit he pulled on Monday. You don't stand there and look, point at the 'stros dugout, and do the "you can't see me" bullshit while rounding the bases. Hey Sori, good job! Your sorry ass has SUCKED all year and you do one good thing and you want to talk shit??? Seriously? How about you try hitting over .250 before you talk shit...

I have to admit...my interest is piqued. This road trip will give a good indication if the Cubs are going to contend...or just barely be relevant...
-
I think my Bravos are going to find out a little about themselves this weekend as well. Playing their best of the season since the All Star break (Despite dropping 2/3 to Florida). They're finally over .500 for the first time all season and have the Dodgers coming in for 3. Take 2 of 3 from L.A. and we may have something going here. Drop em' and...well...

They just traded Kevin Hart and a couple of minor league guys for two Pirate left handed relievers. That sounds more like a Cubs of old trade...

Agreed. But we are still on the bottom of a long uphill trek. What are we, like, 9 games out from the Phils? We won't take the division. The only hope is the wild card, and you gotta be MUCH better then .500 to take that.
If the bats work, the pitching will do it's job. It's been a long time since I've been this comfortable with our starters/relievers/and closers. Once Huddy comes back, we either need to demote to AAA or move Kawakami to a middle reliever role. He is way under expectations at this point (case in point, giving up a 3 run HR to a fucking pitcher during tTuesday's game.)
-
Huddy? Stop it!!! Your man love for Bobby's Cock is showing again.
C'mon Huddy
C'mon Frenchy
C'mon Chippy
C'mon Yuney
C'mon Kotchy
C'mon Thrilly

Well...in Hendry's defense...we only had 1 lefty coming out of the pen. One. There were times when Pinella didn't know wether to bring in Marshall for the lefty specialist or keep him. The Cubs got 2 lefties to put in the pen for help. They might not be great, but they can be specialist now for maybe one hitter if need be. Hart was really a suprise anyway. The Cubs have a solid rotation when everyone is healthy, so if they can get some left handed help in the pen...I am all for it.
With that being said, the Cubs lost 5-2 today. I just can't get too excited yet, because the first part of this half season has been against week opposition. We shall see. I am interested, but I refuse to get my hopes up...
-
Go Cardinals!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is all.
-
We let one slip away last night. I'm afraid that one will come back to haunt us. So many missed opportunities to win it.
-
Fuck baseball...the Cubs are dead to me...

How the fuck do you lose by double digits to the worst team in baseball? :suicide:

I couldn't agree more. I stayed up to watch it just to be disappointed.
Chipper hasn't gone on the DL this season, which is a miracle, but he's playing very, very tired. Prado is dizzy. McClouth has a bum hammy. Church's pussy hurts. Huddy won't be back until (finally) next month. It is an uphill battle for the Wild Card, and you gotta have wins against the shitty teams, but the Bravos can't seem to win series against the Padres.

It did a little math, and I think the best we can hope for is for the Rockies and/or Dodgers to play .500 ball the rest of the way. Now that is only a best case scenario. If that were to happen, the Braves would need to go 24-13 during our last 37 games to catch the Rockies.
More likely, we'll need to go at least 27-10 the rest of the way to even have a chance. Very hard to do, but not impossible. Our best chance at this point is probably a Dodgers collapse, as they have really been struggling lately.

I don't like your math. Did you carry the one?

Roy O declared the Disastros to be "dead". I am sure he feels as tho his shitty pitching had NOTHING to do with that overall sense of "just get the fucking season over with so we can move on...".
We should have traded his whining, injury prone ass in the offseason...

...in other news...
My St. Louis Cardinals continue whipping that NL Central Ass.
Back to you...

Why don't y'all just go ahead and change your name to the St Louis Pujols? You better pray he stays healthy - or y'all are done. Talk about a one man show...
On the other hand, at least you have a show to watch. I have not watched more than 15 minutes per game of that travesty that passes for baseball in this town for weeks. I haven't gone to but one game - the boss's home plate seats (can't pass those up). No listening on the radio. It has been so damn depressing, I don't even care anymore.
-
Actually, it's been starting pitching the last month or so. Pujols has been in somewhat of a funk. I think we've only scored 6+ in 3 games in the past 2 weeks.
Carp and Waino have to be considered top 4, at worst, for the Cy Young. If Piniero had run support the first half of the year, he'd easily have 15 victories. I'll take any staff when John Smoltz is the #5.

Yep. I read some stat some where that The Cards are like 27-3 since July 2nd when their top 3 start. That's ridiculous...

Starting pitching, adding Holliday and Ludwick stepping up behind him. We're just much better offensively this year.
As Jarhead said, Carp has been great. Wainright is leading the Majors with 16 wins. Smoltz has come alive in St. Louis....
Pujols is a major cog leadership wise, but he's not the only weapon anymore.
-

On top of that stat, the ERAs of those three since July 2nd has been sub 2.00.
Basically, Cards got hot at the right time... Just when the Cubs hit the skids. We all agreed that the first team to go on a 15-5 streak would win the division. I just didn't expect the Cubs to implode like they did.
-
Yeah. Well my Braves are...nevermind.
Wildcard hopefuls? Can't give up yet.
Tim Hudson (War Damn Eagle) returns tomorrow night from Tommy Johns Surgery.

I have not watched 15 consecutive minutes of Disastros baseball in WEEKS... hell, not even 15 TOTAL minutes in weeks. I check a box score every now and again... But I have not been able to gloat at anyone all season so NYAH! Here's my one chance.

Damn you.
That's me pretending to care.
The funniest thing about this season is that I will normally be glued to WGN when the Cubs are on. This year...I have watched maybe 4 complete games. Two of those were nights that I couldn't sleep and they were on the West Coast. I blame myself though, because I drafted Fonzie on my fantasy team.

Me too Buzz. I gave up on this team WAY earlier than normal. I haven't watched them play at all lately...

I officially became a Dodger fan today after they signed Jim Thome... :gig:  :idhitit:
In fact, I would hit it repeatedly and as often as possible.

A strong move by the Dodgers for more power in the lineup (and they already had plenty).
It really seems that the Dodgers and Phillies have unlimited amounts of money to sign marquee players. This is why these two teams are at the top of their respective divisions.

Another heartbreaker last night. Bobby made another mistake by leaving Vasquez in for too long. His pitch count was way high, and it was hot and humid and he was showing all the signs of being exhausted. They made quite the comeback, but then Gonzalez fucked it up (again) in the bottom of the ninth. This team gives me heartburn, but they are still contending. O N E game at a time.

Yeah...he's definitely down to handjob only status right now.

I watched that last night and saw Escobar pop that one out in the 9th. When Diaz ended the inning, I surfed around during commercials. I happen to hit ESPN and the ticker already had 8-7 Fins posted. I went WTF'nF??? Turned back and sure nuff, there's ole melon headed Helms rounding the bases with a walk off.

Carpenter's making a serious run at the Cy Young again. Just finished off a one hit shut out versus the Brewers. He's 16-3 at this point. Between him and Wainwright, things are looking strong. Smoltz is on the mound tomorrow!

I'm worried about Franklin. He's been in the shitter the last week or so.

The man's been keepin' me down. When I get home on weekends, the last thing I want to do is turn on a computer. Once I get Financial Aid at UVa up and running next week, I should be around a lot more.

Brad Lidge, is the sux.

You mean the player formerly known as Brad FUCKING Lidge? Yes, getting that win off him the other night was particularly nice...

Getting a two run homerun from Matt Holliday off Trever Hoffman in the Ninth with two outs was FANTASTIC!!
26 games now over the .500 mark. :vn:

Wench, you have a party when you guys fired your manager?
*YAWN* Like anyone with half a brain didn't see THAT coming... even Lance Berkman came right out in an interview and all but said it was definitely time for a change in management. Apparently the word is that Coop was not popular in the clubhouse...
Altho I doubt Joe Fucking Torre himself would have been able to win with this collection of broken down geezers and no-talent newbies...
Fucking Astros...
-
During the game last night, the two Cardinals announcers were discussing how when Baggio and Bagwell were on the team, the manager didn't really have to "control" the clubhouse, the two hall of famers would basically do it for them (and you know how I feel about those two guys, nothing but class). Any talk down there about bringing either of them back in any sort of capacity? Bags the hitting coach or something?
-

Don't tease me like that - but the answer is doubtful.
Biggio is assnt. coaching his son's high school team. Baggy is supposedly still part of the team in some capacity, but he is still playing golf and flying back and forth to Cabo... not ready to give up the Jimmy Buffett lifestyle, I guess.
That is really part of the problem. Lance Berkman would be the obvious choice for team leader, but he is too laid back, too buddy buddy - he is not comfortable in that role. Lee is too all about Lee, and Tejada, well, he had his own problems. And no one on the pitching staff is a true personality - Oz is done, and there is no Clemens type to step up and kick some ass. Top to bottom - no leadership on that team. Period.
That is so damn pitiful.
