Title: Choose
Post by: Townhallsavoy on May 29, 2009, 12:16:38 AM
LA Tech is the season opener, but it's a crap game.  It'll probably be an afternoon/evening PPV game.

Miss St is the SEC opener, but it'll be a morning game.

So which is the better deal?

I would choose State to see the new offense Mullin's installed. Has to be better than the 5 points scored last year!

Afternoon/Evening games are ALWAYS better than morning games... no matter what...

As a general rule, I would agree.  However, a morning SEC game is ALWAYS better than an afternoon/evening Sun Belt game.

I always would take an SEC over a non conference game, unless the non conference opponent happens to be a good team, not matter what time of day the game is played.

I have a hard time missing the first game of the year.  I don't care who it is against.  I also hate to have to wake up at the ass crack of dawn to get to an 11:30 game and have any decent tailgating time.  Would much rather roll out of bed and head strait to the frig to start drinking in my own home for the early games.

Some background to this poll -

A friend of mine is able to come in from Stanford for one game this year, and we can't decide which would be the better choice.  We're trying to lock down hotels right now.  If I can persuade him to come in for the West Virginia game, then this poll is moot.

I'm thinking the Miss St game will be the choice.  If it's a morning game, that means when the game is over, there will be plenty of football left to watch at the tailgate.

Don't forget that LaTech was a bowl team last year and MSU was not.

LaTech Pros: Bowl team, opening night, night game
Miss St Pros: SEC Team, SEC opener

This is expected to be a decent La Tech team I think.  Still we should have them outmanned, and a loss to them would be a baaaaaaaaad way to start for Chizik and company.   For some of us wait and see folks that might be all we need to see.

La Tech ain't going to be a simple push over.  I'm not saying that they're world beaters or anything like that, but they aren't horrible either.  If I remember correctly, they beat MSU last year.

So did Auburn. In our worst season in a decade.
