Title: I need a non spicy wing sauce recipe
Post by: AUTailgatingRules on May 22, 2012, 07:02:04 PM
I've been grilling wings for the past few months and love the taste a i get slow cooking them on the grill.  I love em hot and the wife can't take the heat.

I've tried numerous "mild" store bought sauces and they are still too hot for her.

Does anyone know of a good sauce recipe that I can use.  Would prefer a typical buffalo wing flavor but will try something else if you have a good one.

If mild store bought is too hot, then she doesn't like Buffalo wings.  I'd try some sweet BBQ sauce for hers.

Maybe she needs this?

Have not been able to find it in my local wal marks or Winn Dixie.  I will look some more

I'd try the mild sauce again and cut it with honey and maybe some BBQ sauce.  If you add enough honey or sugar you can take the heat out of the sauce.

I want to say teh Piggly Wiggly normally has it.  My wife is the same way about spicy sauces, and she loves it.

The honey is a great suggestion.  My standard BBQ sauce, which is sak-ree-lih-jus to some of our BBQ professionals, is a mixture of Jack Daniels Maple Brown Sugar BBQ sauce, cinnamon, honey and Frank's Hot Sauce.  Very mild and sweet without the Frank's.  I do it both ways because a couple of people in the family hate any heat/spice in the sauce.  Frank's is mighty tasty with just the right amount of pop.  But Yoda's suggestion about cutting it with honey should do the trick.

Also known as Buffalo Sauce.

I'm going to try this, this weekend.  Sounds like it will still have the "buffalo" wing flavor without the spice.

Thanks
