Title: Fried my car radio
Post by: AU_Tiger_2000 on January 18, 2011, 10:59:57 AM
Was hooking up a rear view camera to my head unit (Alpine ixa-w404) in my truck (F250).  Was clamping on a tap in to a hot wire when the pliers bumped the chassis to my radio which was on so I could hear the Packers-Falcons game.     So my head unit is a total loss.

Want to get a replacement with a larger screen this time.  Does anybody know of any brands to stay away from?

I like the looks of this one  http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_18479_Dual_XDVD8281.aspx  Mainly for this review.

I FEEL THIS IS A VERY GOOD UNIT FOR THE PRICE. I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH IT AT ALL AND ITS ABOUT A YEAR OLD. I LIKE IT BEACUSE IT IS VERY EASY TO HACK IT AND MAKE IT PLAY DVD WHILE DRIVING. I DO NOT RECROMEND THAT YOU DO THAT BEACUSE YOU MITE CRASH AND DIE, BUT IT IS VERY NICE TO BE ABLE TO DO THAT.

Nothing says multi-tasker like a big screen tv in the front seat.
