Title: Favorite Rewatch?
Post by: Snakebite on February 06, 2024, 07:19:48 AM
In the off-season for the past 3-4 years, I like to go back and watch old Auburn games to help my mind recalibrate what the standard for Auburn Football should be. Despite Gus’s & Hairpin’s best efforts to kill the program, Auburn will always be Auburn. We will rise from the ashes and make great memories again on the field. My favorite game to go back and watch was a Gus coached team, coincidentally: The 2019 Iron Bowl.

Others for consideration:

1. 2006 vs UF
2. 2013 SEC Championship
3. 2010 vs LSU
4. 2004 SEC Championship
5. 2017 vs UGA

All relatively recent, but that’s just my age talking. What’s your favorite, and what games should I add to the mix for rewatch on my end?

Definitely 2017 UGA.

2010 Ark
2004 UT (either one)
2001 UF
2006 UF
1994 LSU
1999 UGA

I had forgotten about that 2010 Arky game.  That was quite a battle of highly explosive offenses going against Swiss Cheese defenses.  Definitely a fun one to watch.

A dead Bamer brother in law ruined any thoughts of rewatching past games. I won't elaborate except to say I knew far too many of them that relived those experiences in their free time.

The 2010 SECCG against Sakerlina would be a good one for me.  It wasn’t much of a game, as Auburn pounded the Cock that day.  What made it so delicious, was that by midway through the 4th quarter, the only people left in Cock colors in the building were band nerds.  Their fans were truly a huge bag of dicks, all wearing Scam Newton t-shirts they had made themselves with a Sharpie.  They ran their mouths all weekend, then ran out of the Georgia Dome to their cars.  I’d go watch that one again.

When Bo ran over Maryland.

2004 LSU
2006 LSU

When Bo ran over Maryland.

Both of those LSU games, incredible defensive struggles.  Back in the gorgeous Borges days of 3 yards and a cloud of dust.

Thank God for those salty Tuberville defenses and some heroic efforts by Courtney Taylor, Brandon Cox, & Kenny Irons.

.......

When Bo ran over Maryland.

It was Agee that blitzed Maryland in 1983

219 yds

Lionel had 115

Bo had 105

3 backs over 100 in the same game

1982 Georgia and Iron bowl are fun to watch ..... and any game in 1983

1993 games.....trailed at half in 8 of 11 games.....that team was fun to watch, hard to find the film

Watching Bo win the Heisman in Athens in 1985.... a lone bright spot from 84-85....

If you appreciate 2006 AU/LSU...go watch '88's version.

Any of the ‘87 wins.
That defense was legit.

You’d have to be some kind of  weirdo to rewatch old football games.

89 Iron Bowl
Early 2000s night game vs FLA in JHS. Spurrier was still the coach and I believe they were #1. Swirling wind and we stole one.

Kick six

Camback

Bo over the top

The 88 version, with Jimmy Harper flagging AU for "phantom" illegal motion/procedure/formation throughout the game gives me heartburn

Harper was a bum and AU was 2 TD better than that suck ass LSWho team...sumbitches!!

If I had to choose it would be 1987 with Jeff Burger and company beating Alabama in the last meeting at Legion Field.

Any AU fan who would willingly rewatch the '88 LSU game probably masturbates with a cheese grater.

1990 Florida State.  Those fuckers mockingly played our fight song after the '89 game in Tallahassee, so it was great fun to chop them out of Jordan-Hare in '90.

1989 Alabama.  The most important game in Auburn football history, with no close seconds.

2007 Florida.  Freshman Wes Byrum from Fort Lauderdale kicks Tebow and Urban in their reptile nuts in the Swamp.

There are a few quarters from games that are fun to watch in terms of comebacks (1990 Tennessee that ended in a tie had a wild 4th quarter), but wouldn't be worth watching from start to finish.

That was my one and only trip to Red Stick. Still pissed off about it if I'm being honest. I have not gone back and watched it once either.

That sounds like me and the 1996 Iron Bowl.  I'm more pissed off about that one than the 2013 BCS Game.

2006 vs fUGA & Arkansas pisses me off still.

Our stingy defense got bent over to take it in dry by the Hawg's rushing attack.

Brandon Cox hit more fUGA players in the hands than Joe Cox did that game.

Last year's NMST game had my eyes popping out of my head with frustration, too.  Got weird looks from bystanders at Little Italy after the game as I walked through with a pitcher of beer in a cussing rage.
