I like the Eric Church's, Gary Allens, Justin Moores nowadays. George Strait is another one (along with Blake Shelton) that can take a short walk off a long pier. His shit in the 80's was so good, and now this crap he is putting out? Garbage. Too many Hollywood producers are running Nashvegas now. George Jones and Dwight Yoakam were right many years ago, about Nashville.
I will give credit to Swift for being able to write her own songs. I can pick up a guitar and if someone gives me the tabs/chords I can usually figure out a song if it's not real complicated. In other words I suck, I can't imagine being able to come up with something in your head and churn it out. I do like Miranda Lambert as she can do the same thing and her songs are pretty good, but her looks help her out a lot with me.
Strait sold out as did several others in the 90's. Like I said I don't mind some of this "Southern Pop", but for the love of God stop calling it country music. I have always said it was amazing to me that Dwight Yoakam has never won a CMA award, but has a couple of Grammy's, a AMA, and a couple of ACM awards.
I just like the fact that he called it like he saw it. Wanna bet that he won't win a CMA this year? I bet he doesn't preform at the 2013 CMA festival as well and the the only reason he is playing this year is b/c he is already booked.
