Wait.  So we're going to lose billions of dollars of federal funding AND millions of dollars on legal fees?  Holy shit.  Millions of billions over a drivers license exam?  Seriously?

There are literally billions of dollars at stake over fucking driving exams?  Billions?  For a driving exam?  For a single state?  Billions?

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

See, its the hypocrisy that pisses me off. You guys are loaded with it whether you like it or not.

You have an obvious problem with southern culture. Its evident. You want the south to become some big hippie college fest with no hint of anything it has been in the past - because it "embarrasses you". Were just all rednecks if we even remotely like anything conservative - a gun, a Bible, whatever. Maybe YOU are the one who doesnt fit in. I've said this before Chad - would it not be easier to go somewhere where it already fits your idea of culture rather then trying to drastically change the culture where you are?

I would be glad to engage in some constructive debate here on any of these topics, but when you start throwing narrow minded cheap shots instead of actual dialog - you lose me. As Kaos also said, I'm not an extreme right winger by any means. I lean more libertarian and was a big supporter of Ron Paul in 2008. Even in my religion I am a Methodist - which is not considered far right by any means - ask a Baptist.

But to hear you tell it - if your anti-ILLEGAL immigration, religious in any way and in Alabama - you're just a typical redneck idiot who has been brainwashed. No - if that were true, we would be on The Crapstone Report with Shane.  I think we have more in common than you THINK. You just don't let the common ground come together. Instead, you'd rather insult us.

False.  I like the South.  I like living here and I like the culture.  What I don't like (and this goes for any state and politics) is that people don't think for themselves.  I'm from Alabama, I listen to Rush Limbaugh, I'm conservative.

Now, I'm not saying that is everyone...but a lot of people are like that.  If you want to be conservative, republican, democrat, socialist, that is fine with me.  Just think it out first, and use your own reasoning to do so...

The whole reason I get into these conversations is because the majority of people here are conservative, some more than others.  I just feel that a counter point should be presented in every debate or it isn't truly a debate.  Oh yeah, and because I disagree with you guys.

Generalize all you want. The commercial in this thread, the way it was presented, and the ideas that it was trying to appeal to, absolutely make this state look stupid. As predicted in the first post, it has gone national and now we're the butt of jokes because of it. If you're proud of being ignorant, I can't think of a better word for that besides redneck. If you're one of the people that will vote for this guy because, and only because you were duped into thinking "Yeah! Fuck them brown people takin our jobs. Learn Anglish Motherfucker! This is America so speak American!", you are an idiot. Plain and simple. Black and white. The discussion is over. He was trying to frame it as an immigration issue (and some of you fell for it), when it was an issue in having the test in languages such as sign language or Korean to accomodate the booming foreign auto industry in Alabama. Furthermore, it has been proven that what he is proposing will actually lose money for the state rather than save it, as he suggested. And then to top it all off, the whole thing he's proposing is completely unconstitutional.

And some of you still want to vote for this guy because of this issue alone?

That's what embarrasses me about this state.

Real talk?

Who, on this website, isn't reasonable?  Therein lies the problem.  It's not that people can't think for themselves, it's that you think you and a few others are the only people capable of thinking for themselves.  The very minute someone didn't agree with your position on Tim James, the redneck comments started to fly.  Not a single person, at any time, declared they were going to vote for Tim James because of that one talking point.  Not one.  But because a few people didn't disagree with his position, they were automatically labeled rednecks, which has been the issue all along.

There isn't a single person involved in any of these discussions that I truly believe can't think for themselves....because I don't believe that my position is 110% correct no matter what.  My opinion can be changed, and it changes daily through discussion and knowledge.

If you really believe that some here aren't capable of thinking for themselves because their position isn't in line with yours or a few others, then you guys are the one's with the problems.

I don't know enough yet to say whether I'll support him, but I do like this particular stance.  It's one I agree with 100000%.

Some of the idiotic things Chizad (and others) says/supports makes me weep for the future.  You (and others) don't have to explicitly say that your own opinion is the only one considered valid its how you respond to those who disagree which makes that fact crystal clear.  Nothing wrong with that, but at least own it.  I don't mind saying that on some topics (not all) if you're diametrically opposed to my position, I automatically consider you lacking in intelligence or discernment.  You (and others) have just as clearly illustrated your disdain for particular opinions here and it's blatantly obvious that you consider those who think differently than you to be ignorant.  Just own it.

BTW? I never said I'd vote for Tim because of this commercial. The commercial itself has no bearing on it. I'm inclined to vote for him because people whose political opinion I consider utterly vacuous are opposed to him.

I never said the commercial was in good taste. I never endorsed the commercial. I never said I was voting for Tim James.  And I am not voting for Tim James. Honestly - I dont think this is of the utmost concern at the moment. There are more pressing issues.   I have to give you credit for the unconstitutional comment as you also said the HC Bill was UC as well. At least you were consistent on that one.
