2001 Auburn/Florida Game
« on: September 27, 2007, 10:50:20 PM »
I am still undecided on the amount of talent and ability this year's team has, so I remain opimistic and I don't read or listen to much media hype about the team good/bad (which is mostly bad).

Got to thinking which team in recent years the 2007 team reminds me of, by position and by win/loses so far.
This 2007 team reminds me of the 2001 team. The 01' team lost to Syracuse, they beat Vandy by a field goal, played very close game with Miss. State and won by two.

"Last week, Duval kicked three field goals in the fourth quarter,
including a 47-yarder with 18 seconds remaining, as Auburn
rallied for a 16-14 victory over Mississippi State.  On
September 29, Duval's 49-yard field goal with 2:58 reamining
gave Auburn a 24-21 win over Vanderbilt."

They went into the UF game, unranked at 4-1, which could have easily been a 2-3 record. And we all remember Florida was #1 in polls.

Here is the box score:

Florida-Gaffney 80 pass from Grossman (Chandler kick)

Individual Statistics
RUSHING: Florida-Gillespie 12-4, Starks 1-4, T Jacobs 1-2,
Grossman 2-minus 11, Team 1-minus 17, Leach 1-minus 18.
Auburn-C Moore 20-60, C Williams 8-25, Cobb 5-17, R Brown 2-1,

PASSING: Florida-Grossman 25-42-4-364. Auburn-Cobb 11-23-0-152,

RECEIVING: Florida-Caldwell 9-128, Gillespie 7-36, Gaffney
4-110, T Jacobs 2-33, Perez 1-32, A Walker 1-14, Roberts 1-11.

M Willis 2-7, C Williams 1-13, Carter 1-5, J Walkins 1-3.

The 2007 team will play two quarterbacks (Campbell was freshman in 01'), play two young tailbacks (Williams/Brown were freshman in 01'). The Gators have another over hyped QB (Grossman was a Soph in 01'). The big difference is the 2001 game was at Auburn, this year's game is in Gainsville.

But you got to believe...........fuck the bamers, fuck Finebaum, fuck all those who don't want to believe the Auburn kids don't stand a chance.........it can happen!!  So, in the words of one of my old coaches, "Damn-it, they put there damn pants on one leg at a time just like we do." "They say that quarterback is pretty good over there, I SAY BULLSHIT, we got a quarterback that is pretty damn good too. And I doubt their QB will be such a hotshot with a white helmet planted on his chin"
